Chapter 837
Chapter 837
Anton knew that Captain Ormez, the ship's captain, Melinda, and some of the ship’s officers would treat him as an important passenger simply because the Ormundan higher-ups had spoken to them about Anton’s assignment to send thirty Portal Scrolls at the end of each month while on board the ship. That meant that they had learned that the scrolls came from him, which made his safety a priority. Anton wasn’t really worried about his or the ship’s safety. Just like ship Amelia, Melinda, which was a ship as large as Amelia had been, was protected by several powerful wizards, including a couple of Invincible Rank wizards.
The main difference between the two ships was Melinda’s ability to communicate with Ormunda and several other kingdoms, including a kingdom in the continent of Izmorta. Melinda also had the capability of transporting small packages, and Anton would be using that ability to submit the portal scrolls to Ormunda.
While Anton was examining his room, which he was liking every passing minute because of how comfortable it was, someone knocked on his door. When he opened it, he saw that it was two men.
“Good Morning, Sir Sunders. I’m Captain Ormez, and this is my Chief Officer, Menor. I want to make sure that you’re finding your room comfortable,” Captain Ormez said.
Anton invited the captain and the chief officer inside, and once they were seated at the dining table, the talk started.
“I’m comfortable, Captain. This is a very nice room.”
“I’m glad. I’m aware of how important you are, so I want to make sure that your experience in traveling with Melinda will be the best.”
“Thank you. I would prefer that you not spread the fact that I’m someone important. I just want to be treated as a normal, but a rich passenger.”
“It’s not going to be hard since you’re young and you look it. More than likely, the other passengers would treat you as a young noble out to explore the world. They would also treat you as a wizard, I’m afraid, since it’s hard to conceal the fact that you can cast spells. Still, your exact rank can remain a mystery to them. Please understand, though, that your safety is a priority while you’re traveling with us. Ormunda and New Drennor made me aware of your ability to provide the Portal Scrolls, and those scrolls are still an extremely strategic resource that both kingdom still needs, so don’t hamper us when an emergency happens, and you see that we’re prioritizing you over others.”
“I understand, Captain, and I will cooperate fully. Since the Undead Coalition is no more, what kind of emergency might occur?”
“The normal ones like attack from sea beasts, pirates, and even natural disasters like severe storms. All of those can be handled by Melinda easily, so don’t worry.”
“I do have experience traveling on the ocean since I did travel with the ship Amelia from Rendindura to Ormunda, so you don’t need to worry about me.”
“Amelia? Didn’t the Undead Coalition destroy it in the middle of the ocean?” The Chief Officer asked.
“It was destroyed, but my father, my sister, and I survived. Using my magic, we managed to reach Ormunda safely.”
Since both the captain and his chief officer were curious about Anton’s experience in surviving the destruction of the ship Amelia, he told them the details of the attack and their survival. Anton saw that both the captain and his chief officer were amazed at the details that he shared with them regarding his and his family’s journey to Ormunda after the Coalition destroyed the ship, Amelia.
“I know about that darkness spell! A tablet called Tablet of Survival Spells was auctioned off a few days ago, and it was purchased by a noble for a million gold coins! Do you have such a tablet? But from what I’ve heard, those tablets were recently created!” The captain’s chief officer exclaimed.
“I don’t need that tablet. The spell is called Cloak of Shadows, and I can cast the spell myself. I actually was the one who made those tablets. I didn’t realize that people are interested in buying those. Why does it cost so much, though?”
“Well, a rumor was spread by the auction house that the maker of the tablet had died, so the few Tablets of Survival Spells that survived in that last battle with the Coalition were thought of as the only few that remained.”
“That’s ridiculous! I’m alive, and I can create more of them if I want.”
“Don’t mind it too much, Sir Sunders. The auction houses use such tactics to earn more gold. Even if you come out and proclaim your survival, and even showing off more of your tablets, the auction house would just rejoice at your survival and would probably try to commission more tablets from you,” The captain said.
After their discussion, Captain Ormez told Anton that a ship’s crew would come at a later time to provide him with the complete itinerary of the ship, including a copy of the map that would show the route the ship would take on the way to Izmorta.
When the captain and his chief officer left, Anton wanted to start exploring the Melinda but held off in doing so. He wanted to start his exploration once the ship was already in the middle of the ocean.
Anton wanted to start his new plan of starting from scratch on the ship. He wanted to be treated as someone who was a novice mage, because people his age would be more comfortable with someone who wasn’t a powerful Supreme Rank Wizard. He wanted another adventure with friends, just like what happened when he was on board the ship Amelia.
Since the Undead Coalition was no more, he wasn’t expecting another tragedy to happen, especially since the ship Melinda was protected by tens of powerful wizards, including a couple of Invincible Rank wizards. He remembered when he was aboard Amelia, he thought that the Invincible Rank was the most powerful wizardry rank.
After waiting for an hour, Anton heard Captain Ormez’s voice through some sort of magical speaker informing everyone that the ship was about to leave. Anton couldn’t help himself and rushed outside to join everyone in seeing the ship’s departure from Ormunda.
He could feel the excitement in the air. It was unlike the excitement that he had felt when he was leaving Rendindura with his family aboard the ship Amelia. This leave-taking was pure excitement for the upcoming adventure, unlike his previous one, which was laced with fear and desperation.
Anton could have chosen other continents that Ormunda had created Teleportation Gates with, since the travel to those places would be instantaneous, although it would cause him a tremendous amount of wealth, but based on his research, however cursory it was, Izmorta was an attractive place for him to start his journey to become a multidimensional adventurer.
Besides, once he arrived there, he could return home immediately through the use of his own portal, and he heard Raymond say that Ormunda and New Drennor planned to establish gates to other continents, including Izmorta. According to the family butler, that plan would happen within the year. He could have waited, but the fact was, once the Ormundan wizards decided to start establishing gates, they would still need to travel via ships to those places, and that would take time.
Anton wanted to start his adventure as soon as possible, so he decided not to wait anymore and just journey to his destination via ship.
