Becoming a God Starts with Acting

Chapter 536: [A Godless World] (4)

Chapter 536: [A Godless World] (4)

Adrian watched Ember’s retreating figure, then glanced at the remaining food. "This is for me, right? If you don’t say anything, that means yes."[...]

[Holy crap, this is seriously the first time I’ve ever seen someone like this.]

[Ember agreed, but does he actually dare to eat it?]

[He’s really not afraid of getting strangled by Ember? With that boiled-chicken body of his, he doesn’t seem to know what fear is at all...]

Of course, if Adrian knew fear, he wouldn’t be Adrian. Although he found it a little strange that there was only one bowl to eat from, it didn’t matter. He was already freeloading a meal, so how could he complain?

From outside, Ember watched Adrian scrape through the pot for a while before happily walking out, and he found himself completely speechless.

[I just saw Ember’s eye twitch. There’s no way I imagined that!]

[kkkkkk, has Ember finally met his natural enemy?]

[But I didn’t expect him to be gentler than I thought. I mean, with Adrian’s attitude, I thought Ember would’ve punched him a few times already...]

[That’s because you’ve all misunderstood Ember. From the very beginning, I knew he was a little angel!]

[That’s disgusting enough already.]

Soon afterward, the dear viewers were treated to the sight of Ember and Adrian seemingly competing to see who could finish eating faster.

Ember was one thing. His longtime viewers all knew that he always ate quickly, stuffing his mouthfuls one after another. Back then, plenty of Artists and viewers had mocked him for eating like a starving ghost. But Adrian... was even worse.

So when Ember finished and looked up, he found Adrian looking up at him at the exact same moment. Adrian swallowed the last bite in his mouth, then raised a thumbs-up and looked at Ember with admiration.

"Not bad. You’ve got a pretty good eating speed too, though you’re still a little slower than me."

As he spoke, he stood up and, without waiting for Ember’s opinion, gathered up the bowls. "Since you cooked, I’ll wash the dishes."

Ember watched Adrian’s back. Almost unconsciously, he lowered his head and wiped his mouth. The tissue was clenched tightly in his fist, and no one knew what exactly he was thinking.

In the end, he stood up, preparing to go check Room 601 before night fell.

Just then, Adrian came out as well. It had to be said that his cleaning speed was astonishingly fast, so fast that Ember couldn’t help doubting whether he had actually washed anything properly.

Thinking that, Ember frowned again, looking somewhat irritated.

But he hadn’t forgotten his purpose. He paused for only a moment before continuing on his way.

"Where are you going?" Adrian’s voice came from behind him.

Ember wasn’t even surprised. In fact, it felt exactly as he had expected.

Without answering, he simply kept walking.

The sound of footsteps followed close behind. Adrian seemed to have nothing better to do, deliberately stepping in the exact same footprints Ember had just left.

Ember, who had just opened the door, suddenly stopped.

He turned around. His tall frame nearly blocked out all the light, casting a massive shadow over Adrian.

Adrian blinked at him.

"What is it?"

Ember frowned. In the end, he only said coldly,

"Stop following me."

After a brief pause, he added,

"You’ll die."

Hearing that, Adrian covered his mouth in exaggerated surprise before quickly nodding.

At least this one knows how to listen.

That was what Ember thought before continuing outside.

Clearly, however, he had reached that conclusion far too soon.

The moment he stopped again, Adrian’s voice sounded from behind him once more.

"I’m really not following you. We’re just going the same way."

Ember: "..."

His hand tightened into a fist. In the end, he said nothing and simply quickened his pace.

Eventually, the two of them came to a stop in front of Room 601.

They had passed quite a few people along the way, most of them Artists. Whenever they saw Ember, they parted instinctively, like the sea before Moses.

Most of them couldn’t help showing surprised expressions when they noticed Adrian walking behind him.

The area was no longer sealed off. Clearly, whatever clues had existed had already been collected by the police without leaving anything behind.

Just as Ember and Adrian arrived, John happened to step out.

"Ember, you’re wasting your time. There’s nothing left in there."

John spoke gently, his kind expression making it sound more like a reminder than a warning.

Elle, perched on his shoulder, rolled her eyes where no one could see. The displeasure she felt toward Ember was far more obvious than John’s.

But before either of them could take the opportunity to needle Ember, another figure suddenly leaned out from behind his back.

Adrian looked at John and Elle with obvious curiosity.

"Hello. You two are certainly... unique."

As he spoke, he raised his phone with an excited grin.

"Can we take a picture together—"

Elle’s teeth audibly ground together. Her fangs began to sharpen, just waiting for this idiot to come a little closer.

Before Adrian could take another step, however, someone grabbed his wrist. The grip was so strong that it felt as though the bones in his wrist were about to be crushed.

"Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!"

He yelped and instinctively kicked Ember in the shin.

"What the hell are you doing?!"

As he spoke, he jerked his hand free and rubbed his aching wrist with a pained expression.

Ember lowered his bloodshot eyes to the clear shoeprint now stamped across his black pants.

His expression was so grim that it looked as though he was about to kill someone.

Elle burst into laughter, while John looked at Ember with mock sympathy.

"Looks like the teammate you picked isn’t exactly the brightest, huh, Ember? Good luck."

"What are you talking about..." Adrian frowned in annoyance.

Before he could finish, Ember spoke.

"We’re not teammates."

Then, fixing Adrian with an icy stare, he added,

"But you’re right. He’s not very bright."

The entire second sentence was directed at Adrian.

Still rubbing his wrist, Adrian instinctively shrank his neck under Ember’s gaze.

Watching Ember’s back, he finally couldn’t help muttering,

"That was genuinely hurtful..."

Then he turned back to John and Elle with a smile.

"We’ll take that picture another time if we get the chance. See you."

With that, he briskly walked into Room 601, as though he had neither heard nor noticed the obvious disdain in John and Elle’s attitudes.

"I want to kill him," Elle muttered. "Both of them."

John raised a hand and gently patted her head.

"The time isn’t right yet. Our goal has always been the same, Elle."
