Becoming a God Starts with Acting

Chapter 541: [A Godless World] (9)

Chapter 541: [A Godless World] (9)

Adrian looked up at Anna, the corners of his lips curling into a faint smile. In a soft voice, he murmured, "I’m hungry. I’m really hungry, Anna."With that, he rose to his feet and slowly walked toward the iron bars.

[Why do I get the feeling that, when Adrian says those words while looking at Anna, Anna is about to become his dinner?]

[I have a feeling you might not be wrong...]

Adrian placed his hand over Anna’s, which was gripping the bars. Tilting his head, he looked at her, a slight smile lingering on his lips.

"Could you help me?"

A faint golden glow seemed to flicker in Anna’s eyes, just like Adrian’s at that moment, shining in the darkness.

Before Anna even realized what she was doing, she had already unlocked the holding cell door.

"Anna, aren’t you done yet? Why did you come back in the first place?"

The voice of the duty officer echoed through the corridor. The moment he saw the scene before him, he froze, his face filling with disbelief.

"Anna, what the hell are you doing?!"

Anna jumped in shock. Instinctively, she stepped in front of Adrian, trying to shield him.

But at that very moment, Adrian suddenly opened his mouth—and not by any ordinary amount.

The corners of his mouth split all the way to his ears in an instant. Two razor-sharp fangs emerged from within, followed by a long tongue that shot straight toward the duty officer.

"Gurgle... gurgle..."

Crunch.

Before the officer could scream or raise any kind of alarm, he was silently swallowed whole by Adrian.

His mouth closed again, though the gruesome tears stretching to the corners of his ears remained clearly visible.

Tiny golden scales shimmered beneath the dim lights, scattered across the corners of his eyes, his forehead, cheeks, and neck.

He licked his lips and let out a small belch before turning to Anna.

"I feel much better now. Thank you... Anna."

As he spoke, he pulled Anna toward him, almost wrapping her in an embrace as he whispered her name into her ear.

It was as if Anna hadn’t even realized that Adrian had just swallowed one of her fellow officers. Her entire face flushed crimson with embarrassment, and even her legs trembled slightly.

[...]

[What the hell?! What the hell did I just see?!]

[So this is what a believer of an Evil God is really like. Silvanus really is an angel after all!]

[Did he seriously just eat a person?!]

[Now I finally understand why Ember can’t eat as fast as Adrian!]

[Does anyone have footage of him eating "meals?"]

[I want to see what he really looks like.]

The image was transmitted, but Adrian clearly hadn’t transformed completely into his serpent form. Only his head had suddenly split open as if it had been torn in half, making him look both terrifying and grotesque.

Even so, the gifts sent to his stream began skyrocketing.

Apparently, he had struck the aesthetic preferences of a certain group of viewers.

Meanwhile, Adrian gazed at Anna affectionately.

"Take me to the archive room where the recent case files are kept, all right?"

Anna pressed her lips together and nodded repeatedly, almost without hesitation.

Not long afterward, Ember heard the sound of a key sliding into a lock.

He looked up to see Adrian smiling at him as his hands deftly worked the lock. A moment later, the cell door swung open.

Ember wasted no time stepping outside. Only then did he notice there was someone standing beside Adrian. He recognized her as the policewoman who had taken Adrian away that morning.

As if sensing Ember’s questioning gaze, Adrian wrapped an arm around Anna’s waist and pulled her snug against his side.

"She’s one of us now."

The gesture immediately sent Anna’s heart racing, while Ember couldn’t help frowning inwardly. His expression turned cold as he looked at Adrian.

"This isn’t the time for flirting."

Adrian merely shrugged it off.

"Someone comes to rescue you, and this is the thanks I get. Come on, let’s go."

As he spoke, Anna immediately hurried ahead to lead the way.

Ember eyed Adrian suspiciously, still unable to believe that Adrian had actually managed to charm a policewoman into helping them this much.

Adrian was admittedly good-looking, but was he really handsome enough for Anna to obey him so unquestioningly?

By then, they had arrived at the records room.

"We need to hurry. It won’t be long before someone else notices something’s wrong."

With Anna’s help, they quickly found the file containing the details of the incident in Room 601.

Adrian skimmed through it. All the key details matched.

He glanced at Ember.

"Let’s go."

Ember stared at Adrian in disbelief, his expression clearly asking, "You’re not going to read it?"

Adrian looked at him as if he were hopeless.

"What’s wrong with taking it home to read? Or would you rather stay here until all of us get caught?"

It was the first time Ember realized that maybe he wasn’t as smart as he thought.

But wasn’t the normal approach to read everything as quickly as possible, then put it back exactly where it had been so no one would notice? If Adrian took the file away, the police would definitely continue hunting them down...

How could he always make decisions so quickly?

They gathered everything they needed and quietly slipped out of the station.

Anna looked at Adrian and, unable to hold herself back any longer, gently reached out and took his hand.

Adrian stopped, as though he had only just remembered there was still someone behind him.

Smiling, he took Anna’s hand, lifted it to his lips, and placed a kiss on the back of it.

Seeing the affectionate look on Anna’s face, Adrian seemed to ponder something. Then he turned to Ember and waved a hand.

"You head to the bus stop first. Anna and I are going somewhere for a bit."

Ember: "..."

His voice turned icy.

"Do you have any idea what the hell you’re saying?"

Adrian blinked innocently at him.

"Don’t be mad. I’ll bring you along next time."

He gave Ember a wink before quickly pulling Anna into a narrow alley.

Ember remained rooted to the spot.

The veins on his forehead throbbed violently, his face nearly turning green.

His fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white, crushing the plastic file folder in his hand until it was wrinkled beyond recognition.

That bastard...

Meanwhile, Anna blushed as she looked at Adrian’s hand tightly holding hers.

In a soft voice, she asked,

"What did we come here for...?"

Adrian came to a stop.

He turned to look at her and blinked.

"Now that I think about it... I’m still a little hungry..."
