Chapter 231: The First Potential Lead
We pack everything up and leave the church behind, it is finally time to start moving forward again.I look back at the church before turning towards the road.
I think we’ll find something that pushes us to keep going, even if it is difficult. Eliza even has a lead for us already which is great.
The opportunity for us to find someone or something in this realm could be huge. It might even help us bring back Rokuro... Wherever he is now.
"We should get going before the sun goes down," Velia suggests.
"You’re right. We’ve already grabbed everything from inside the church anyway," I reply before starting to walk.
I follow behind the others as we begin to walk along the road to the east, it should take us somewhere completely different. Maybe a place with information.
It doesn’t matter how long it takes us... We’ll find something that is useful.
The first couple hours go by without any problems as we continue to move forward, no enemies or monsters of any kind. Just small talk between us as we try to figure out what to search for.
Lilly hasn’t said a word since the girls intially came back to the church but otherwise, everyone else is talking.
I stop for a moment as I notice old buildings scattered across the desert. Each one looks like it fell hundreds of years ago while some are starting to look more recent.
And I thought our realm was the only one to go through a rough patch. It seems that is not the case in the slightest.
I wonder what kind of monsters they dealt with compared to us... Were they any different or were they the exact same? That is something I’d be the most curious about if anything.
We’ve seen a good bit of monsters and people that could classify as them as well.
Hmm.
"How do you think Akina is doing?" Aria asks with curiosity in her voice.
"I doubt she even knows about what happened," Velia answers without hesitation.
"I doubt it," Aria says with confidence.
Akina definitely would know if Rokuro is alive or no not since she had a lot of special tricks up her sleeve. But, surprisingly I don’t think she is going to tell us anything about it.
She would’ve appeared weeks ago when it first happened if that was the case.
I’m sure she is probably just handling it in her own way like the rest of us have been. The world is very cruel when it comes to the ones you love most.
In the distance I notice a small opening that kind of reminds me of a gate.
"Could that be the place we are looking for?" I question while pointing to the gate.
"I think that is the gate Eliza mentioned," Velia responds.
"Yes. I can sense it from here. We are definitely almost to the kingdom of Leone," Eliza speaks up.
The Kingdom of Leone. Our first potential lead lies within a kingdom that we’ve never been to before.
"That quick?" Aria questions.
"Okay, maybe not almost but this is the right path at the very least. I’m sorry but I can’t exactly see anything to know the distance," Eliza responds with a bit of frustration.
"Just take a breather Eliza. It is okay," I assure her.
Everyone is a little tense since we don’t know what to expect. We aren’t from here... Well most of us aren’t from here while Eliza and Lilly are.
It is very easy to notice us if people pay close enough attention; I don’t think the disguises are completely believable but Velia said they should be.
Not a confident answer but I guess it’ll have to do for now.
(Outside of an abandoned House)
"We’ll take a break here for the time being. Velia says while taking a seat by the door.
"Shouldn’t we check inside to make sure no one else is here?" I question with concern in my voice.
"Nobody else is here Ghost," Eliza speaks up with confidence.
"Alright I guess," I reply before opening up the door.
Upon opening the door I can see an open room with torn up furniture, broken picture frames, and stuff all over the floor. It is clear that the people abandoned this place when the monsters showed up.
Creak.
I stop for a second before realizing that it is just me that made the floor creak like it did.
Before I can walk any further I notice Lilly walk past me and she immediately takes a seat on the old sofa. She still doesn’t seem to be interested in talking about anything yet.
The look on her face says it all.
If Rokuro wouldn’t have found her in that dungeon... She never would have woken up. Nobody else would’ve went down there for a long time since it was definitely a stronger one to enter.
It just worked out in his favor since he awakened his powers that day.
Drip. Drip.
I wipe eyes as I realize tears were streaming down my face again after remembering how we found Lilly.
I shouldn’t think too much about the past right now... It just hurts to keep revisiting memories.
Sigh.
It is his fault for making us all feel this way at the end of the day. We wouldn’t feel like this if he didn’t make such an impact on us. What a jerk.
Footsteps enter behind me and I quickly turn around to see Velia standing there.
"Eliza thinks she might know someone who can give us some information in Leone. We really do have a lead after all," Velia says with relief in her voice.
"Did she give a name or something?" I ask with curiosity.
"Some guy named Alfie," Velia answers.
"Easy to remember," I say with a small smile.
"Definitely," Velia agrees.
She walks past me after that and sits over by Lilly on the sofa.
At least we have a safe place for the night until we begin traveling again.
