Chapter 1417: Our Own Party ( 1417 )
"But Father..."Before Javier could finish, Garius’s gaze fixed on him, steady and unwavering.
"I know you worry about our soldiers. You always have. You’ve always preferred to send your puppet knights because they are expendable, because you don’t want to risk a single human life. But as you said yourself, you believe in our soldiers’ capabilities. You said their gear, their barrier runes, their training, all of it makes them more than capable. And do not forget, the Pekko are not dumb monster birds. They are huge, yes, but they can use magic, they can fight, and they are fiercely loyal to their riders. They are not just mounts; they are partners in battle."
He paused, his voice softening slightly.
"If you are worried about the soldiers you lead, then find a way to protect them properly. That is your strength, Javier. You adapt, you innovate, and you ensure that those under your command come home. Trust in that."
Javier met his father’s gaze and nodded. "Understood, Esteemed Father."
"Good. Oh, and Javier?"
"Yes, Father?"
"This is an official matter, and it should be discussed with Liana first. However, you are only allowed to bring one of them with you. Celine has just arrived, so bringing all of them is out of the question."
Garius paused, his expression turning more serious.
"Not to mention, we have received a formal request from King Garreth of Divinity, requesting that Princess Celine remain under Armand’s protection for the foreseeable future. Given the circumstances, it would not be appropriate for you to bring her along on a military campaign. She is to stay here, where she is safe, and where we can properly integrate her into the family."
He leaned back, his gaze steady.
"Before you make any decisions, I advise you to discuss this with Liana first. She has been with you the longest, she is your first love, and she knows your heart better than anyone. Her counsel will be valuable."
Javier nodded. "Understood, Father."
"Mm." Garius exhaled, then clasped both hands together, resting them on the table as his gaze swept across the room. "If there are no further matters, then this meeting is concluded."
Javier took his notebook, snapped his fingers, and his dimensional storage opened. He placed the notebook inside, closed it with a soft click, then bowed respectfully toward his parents and made his way out. Marcellus, Cedric, Aelius, and Heres followed close behind.
Once outside the room, Javier let out a long exhale, only for Marcellus and Cedric to clap their hands on his shoulders with matching grins.
"Damn, you’re lucky to be sent on another mission~" Cedric said, his voice carrying a teasing lilt.
"Yeah," Marcellus added, shaking his head with a smirk. "And how dare you bring up ’paperwork’ in front of Father? I’m sure Alf is going to dump a mountain of it on my desk after this."
Javier smirked, glancing sideways at Marcellus. "Well, that’s what you get for ’extorting’ your little brother~" He swiped a hand through his hair with a dramatic flourish, wiggling his eyebrows. "This handsome guy doesn’t come cheap, you know~"
"Hah! Handsome your ass!" Marcellus puffed his chest out, a smug grin spreading across his face. "You may have seven girls, but you’ve never beaten me. My pair is a mother-daughter duo~"
Javier smirked, crossing his arms. "Yeah, for that, I admit defeat. A pair of dark elves is impressive. But I also have a catgirl sisters pair, Felicia and Mimi. And of course, the most beautiful elf, Liana. A half-elf, Gloria. A beautiful demon girl, Delya. A human girl, Gracelle. And now adding one from the other continent, Celine."
"Yeah, yeah~ But I still have two girls on my side," Cedric chimed in, a teasing grin on his lips.
The three of them turned, grinning cheekily toward Aelius and Heres.
"At least we have more than one~" Marcellus teased.
Aelius smiled calmly, shaking his head. "I don’t mind. I have the most beautiful flower of Armand. She was the most sought-after noble lady back when we were still a household, and she chose me. That’s more than enough."
Heres smiled dreamily, a soft, content look on his face before he shrugged. "Don’t care. At least I have my first love."
"Yeah, yeah~" Javier waved dismissively before rubbing his chin, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he glanced sideways at Marcellus. "Perhaps when I reach Vurghen, I can make a deal for the ruler’s sister to be married to Heres. You know, to bind our alliance~"
Heres’s eyes snapped open. "O-oi! Don’t you dare!"
Javier, Marcellus, and Cedric all leaned forward, looking at Heres with matching grins. "What? It’s just a suggestion," Javier said, spreading his hands. "It’s not like we’re going to force her. You know our family has never taught us to force any girl into marriage."
"Yeah," Marcellus added, his grin widening. "What’s with the worry? It’s not like she’ll say yes the moment she sees your face~"
Heres exhaled, shaking his head. "If you want, just add her to your harem. I’m not interested."
Javier raised a finger, wiggling it smugly from side to side.
"Chi chi chi~ Not me. I already have seven on my plate. That’s more than enough. And since Aelius can’t, and we all know how Athine is~" He trailed off with a knowing smirk.
Cedric snorted. "Yeah, Athine would probably challenge the girl to a duel before she even got close to Aelius."
Javier, Marcellus, and Cedric all nodded in unison, their grins widening.
Heres stared at them for a long moment before shaking his head. "I hate you all."
Aelius smiled, watching the defeated expression on Heres’s face as he faced the three mischievous brothers. He shook his head before speaking. "Since the meeting is already finished, how about we go to our girls? I believe they’re all gathered in the Garden Room."
"Huh?" Marcellus narrowed his eyes at Aelius. "Athine said it’s a girls’ party. So we guys have our own entertainment~" He nudged Javier’s ribs.
Javier glanced at him. "What?"
"You still have a lot of high-quality wines and roasted meat stored in your dimensional storage, right?"
"Yeah. So?"
"How about we have our own party~"
Cedric nodded in agreement. "Yeah. Since we’re all going to be busy starting tomorrow, especially Javier, it wouldn’t hurt for us to enjoy our time tonight."
Heres rubbed his chin, crossing his arms thoughtfully. "Yeah, I guess so. And since our wives are gathered together, with the Armand staff, maids, and personnel watching over them, not to mention the radar warning system, our little brother’s puppet knights disguised as statues, and the pekko patrolling the nearby forest... I don’t think we have to worry much about their safety."
"Yep. Agree. But... where?"
Marcellus, Cedric, Aelius, and Heres all turned their gazes toward Javier.
Javier pinched the bridge of his nose, letting out a resigned sigh. "Fine. Let’s head to my personal workshop. But let me warn you, if we grill meat there, Buddy will definitely join us."
"Hah. Your pekko can join us too if you want. Better yet, let’s call our pekko and have a party~"
