Chapter 1390 - 1389

Chapter 1390 - 1389

Lucy only found out later that she had already boarded a cargo ship, been shipped roundabout from Eastern Europe, and arrived in London in the United Kingdom. The big guy opened the shipping container, and a blinding light shot in from outside the door; at the same time came shouting, and women crying.

Lucy was very scared, not knowing what awaited her next, but she didn’t dare show any resistance. First, with this big guy in front of her, any resistance would be futile; second, she was still under the control of that terrifying drug, and she had no desire to lose her chance at an antidote.

So she could only obediently crawl up and walk out of the container. The lights outside were harsh; after being shut in the dark for so long, she couldn’t adapt for a moment. When she finally adjusted to the bright light, she saw clearly that she was on a cargo ship. There were two other containers on the ship, and now young girls were actually coming out of them one after another, with burly thugs standing guard beside them.

These young girls, each and every one of them looked drained and haggard; at a glance you could tell they had been ravaged by drugs, weak and feeble, being driven forward by the big men, walking toward the outside.

Lucy noticed that the way she was being treated was different from these young girls. They were crammed ten or twenty to a single container, while she had been kept alone. But this special treatment only made Lucy more afraid. What was so special about her? Why had they locked her up alone? What did they plan to do with her?

Then she thought of her best friend Emily. She frantically searched among the girls, trying to see if Emily was there.

But she was disappointed; she didn’t find Emily.

Why hadn’t Emily been brought onto this ship together with her? Could it be that Emily was actually in league with the kidnappers? One of their accomplices? That made no sense. They’d been best friends since childhood; Emily couldn’t possibly betray her like this.

Just as Lucy was full of suspicion, she noticed movement from the container in front. It turned out two big men were carrying a girl out of the container. The girl’s head was drooping, motionless, as if she were already dead.

Lucy felt as if she’d been struck by lightning, her whole body instantly turning to stone.

The girl being carried out was, shockingly, Emily!

"Emily!"

Lucy couldn’t hold back any longer; like a madwoman she rushed over, ran in front of Emily, and shoved the big guy hard.

The big man was caught off guard and lost his grip; Emily’s corpse fell to the ground.

Lucy bent down and scooped Emily’s body into her arms, bursting into tears. "Emily, what happened? How did it end up like this?"

A big guy rushed over, grabbing Lucy and yanking her up by force. Lucy struggled instinctively, sobbing uncontrollably.

The young girls all around turned their heads to look, but their eyes were dull, their faces wooden, expressionless, as if they had already lost human perception, turned into walking corpses.

Maybe just a day ago, they had still been as lively and bright, as youthful and exuberant as Emily. But one day later, they had already been tortured beyond recognition.

Seeing how grief-stricken Lucy was, the big man seemed to feel a faint twinge of pity and explained, "She took too much..."

With a wave of his hand, the two big men lifted Emily’s body again and quickly carried her away. From this moment on, Emily no longer existed in this world. This lovely Young Lady in the bloom of youth simply vanished in a foreign land. Her body would be disposed of and could never be found again.

"Let’s go!" the big man said to Lucy.

Lucy looked helplessly at Emily’s body being carried off, trembling all over. A wave of nausea washed over her; she couldn’t bear to stay here another second.

Following the crowd, these young girls left the cargo ship and were gathered on the dock. They were ordered to squat in one spot and wait for the next step in the plan.

Thinking of Emily, Lucy couldn’t stop her tears. Her body kept shaking from agitation. It seemed her guess had been correct: that day Emily had indeed been threatened by that Eastern European man named Pete, and had lied to Lucy out of fear.

After seeing Lucy, Emily had cried while apologizing to her. She must have really felt terrible about it.

Even though Emily had been a deadweight teammate who had screwed Lucy over badly, now that Emily was dead, Lucy had already forgiven her. All that remained in her heart was sorrow. She grieved for the loss of her closest friend, and at the same time worried for her own future, not knowing what lay ahead.

At this moment, several black sedans pulled up at the dock. The big men kept watch while, surprisingly, another group of young women got out of the cars. They were driven out of the vehicles and herded to the dock, likewise ordered to squat and wait for arrangements.

Lucy studied them for a moment and saw that these girls looked in better shape. They didn’t seem as ravaged by drugs as the ones who had arrived with her.

Lucy suddenly met the gaze of an Asian girl.

A very pretty Asian girl, around twenty years old, with a fresh, delicate air and fair skin.

"Are you very cold?" the Asian girl asked Lucy, forcing a smile. As she spoke, she took off her own jacket and draped it over Lucy’s shoulders.

Lucy wasn’t cold; she was shaking because of Emily’s death. But the Asian girl’s jacket still helped; she trembled a bit less.

"Thank you," Lucy said.

They tried to talk, but were immediately spotted by one of the big men on guard. He barked, "What are you doing? Shut up!"

The two of them exchanged a look and didn’t dare say another word.

Later, a big man came over and told Lucy and the others to stand up. It looked like they were about to leave the dock.

Lucy tried to take off the jacket and hand it back to the Asian girl.

The Asian girl said, "You keep it."

Lucy hesitated a moment, then nodded, giving the Asian girl a grateful look. This was the only kindness and warmth she had felt in days.

After that, Lucy and the others were led into the sedans. Just like in the containers, all the other girls were crammed into one car, while Lucy was taken alone into a separate sedan.

As they left the dock, bags were pulled over all the girls’ heads. This was to prevent them from recognizing the route. Even at this point, Lucy still had no idea where she was, not even knowing she had already arrived in the United Kingdom.

Lucy kept her wits about her. From the moment she got in the car, she started counting silently in her head, trying hard to remember which way the car turned and to recall every sound she heard, all the way until the car stopped.

Someone led her by the hand, and she walked for a distance.

When the bag over her head was finally taken off, she squinted, letting her eyes adjust to the light, and saw that she had been brought into a room, a very luxurious room, with a lavish king-sized bed.

A plump, middle-aged man was sitting on the sofa in the room, staring at her with a face full of anticipation. His eyes burned with a hunger like a starving wolf’s, like a beast who hadn’t eaten in days and had finally caught sight of fresh meat.

The big man who had brought Lucy in then left, closing the door behind him.

The plump middle-aged man stood up and lunged toward Lucy, like a starving wolf pouncing on a little rabbit.
