Chapter 586 - 586: Surprisingly Came Up with Such a Reason

"I never did anything like that!" The moment Miko implied she'd done the same sort of thing as Mobius in the screen, Lumine snapped back immediately.Whatever the case, how could she possibly do something like that. It was impossible. Absolutely impossible.

"Then why would Mobius use your appearance to do something like that? There has to be a reason." At this point Miko seemed to have completely forgotten that Mobius had also used her own likeness to do that sort of thing just moments ago, and was lecturing Lumine with perfect righteousness.

Lumine fired back at once: "Then Miko definitely did that sort of thing too, or Mobius wouldn't have done it either."

Miko: "…"

Reminded by Lumine, Miko felt a flicker of awkwardness creep in. She was right — in the middle of calling Lumine out, she had completely blanked on the fact that Mobius had also used her own appearance to do that very thing.

But even so, Miko still wanted to be stubborn about it.

Before she could get a word in, however, the Kaito inside the screen seemed to have been stirred awake by the fake Lumine's antics.

"What are you doing, Lumine?" The Kaito in the screen was reaching out to grab at his own trousers, his expression caught somewhere between startled and confused, as though he had no idea what was happening.

"What do you think she's doing — she's pulling your trousers off."

Miko said it offhandedly, commenting on Kaito's reaction inside the screen.

She knew full well he couldn't hear her, of course. But she said it anyway.

Lumine: "…"

Whether it was because the Mobius in the screen looked exactly like her, she wasn't sure, but something about the way Miko said that felt distinctly off, and Lumine didn't quite know what to say.

"I… I saw your trousers had come down, so I was helping you put them back on."

The fake Lumine's explanation drifted out from within the screen.

"Ha — hahaha, you know, Mobius is actually kind of funny when you think about it." The answer Mobius gave Kaito was not what Miko had expected at all, and she burst out laughing.

Because really, that excuse was just too ridiculous.

"She really came up with something like that."

Lumine didn't laugh out loud the way Miko did, but she too found Mobius's excuse absurd beyond words.

Though, thinking about it a little more carefully — maybe it really could happen.

After all, with boys' trousers, she figured there was a genuine chance they could slip off in the middle of sleep.

Not on their own, of course. More like — while sleeping, if you felt too warm or something started itching somewhere, you might just take them off without really thinking about it.

But would that actually happen? Lumine genuinely didn't know — she wasn't a boy, after all.

"I see, so then—"

"I'll be off." The Kaito in the screen hadn't even finished his sentence before the fake Lumine had already vanished at a sprint, and with that, the image in the screen came to an end.

"He actually believed that? And — did Mobius just get shy?!"

Both Kaito and Mobius had managed to surprise Miko, she had to admit.

For one, she hadn't expected Kaito to just take Mobius's words at face value like that. For another, she equally hadn't expected Mobius to simply bolt.

She'd honestly assumed that once Mobius was caught by Kaito, she'd just do what fake-Miko had done — climb right back on top of him and pick up where she left off with his trousers. But no. She'd just run.

"I think she got shy, honestly. Which is just — I didn't think she was the type. It's so weird."

Lumine was just as surprised by Mobius's apparent bashfulness as Miko was.

It really was hard to wrap their heads around. Up until now, Mobius had come across as mysterious, powerful, and the kind of person who radiated danger just by existing.

And yet here she was — seemingly shy.

"Honestly... just how many girls does Kaito know? It really feels like there's no end to them — and every single one of them is so ridiculously strong and beautiful. What is going on?" Once again, Miko voiced the question she hadn't had cause to ask in quite a while.

She was genuinely baffled. Just how many more girls like this did Kaito know? It really did seem like they kept coming, one after another, with no sign of stopping.

"I really don't know either." Lumine shot Miko a helpless look and thought back over all the other girls who had turned up since she first met Kaito.

She remembered that Wendy had shown up from the very beginning. Then, if she recalled correctly, it was Kiana. After Kiana came Acheron. And now, most recently, Mobius. Counted up properly, it wasn't actually that many.

But the problem was that they all had that kind of relationship with Kaito — which made it feel like a lot.

Wait — am I one of the girls Miko was just talking about?

Mid-thought, Lumine suddenly realized that she might well fall into the very category Miko had just described.

"What are you thinking about, Lumine?" Noticing that Lumine had gone somewhere in her head, Miko asked curiously.

"It's just… I think I might be one of the girls you were talking about too."

Meeting Miko's puzzled gaze, Lumine said it hesitantly.

Miko: "???"

Not quite following what Lumine meant, Miko blinked.

But then, quickly, she thought back to what she'd just said.

"Why do you say that? Aren't you a traveler going from country to country? You met Kaito along the way and started traveling together — how is that the same?"

"Well… it's like — if Kaito suddenly took off on his own right now, I'd definitely go find him to find out what was going on. And if he'd met some new girl by the time I got there, or another girl had already beaten me to him — then wouldn't I basically be exactly what you were just describing?" Seeing that Miko understood what she was getting at, Lumine explained.

"Hmm… you know what, that… actually kind of makes sense." Following Lumine's reasoning, Miko found herself agreeing — and then, with a jolt, she realized something. "Wait — doesn't that mean I'm one of them too?!"

"Even if you are… it's not really a big deal, is it, Miko?" Watching Miko have her little moment, Lumine couldn't quite see why she was so worked up about it.
