Chapter 434 - 67: Test of the Seer
Chapter 434 - 67: Test of the Seer
The interior of the palace was quite nice. The decorations were not excessive, generally a simple design was preferred.
But it was very big.
Really, really big.
It wasn’t that obvious from the outside, actually...
The palaces were all big, after all. At least they usually were.
But walking around inside one... it was a completely different feeling.
I felt like I could get lost in the wrong corridor.
The people who walked these corridors also didn’t seem... friendly. There were servants, guards, nobles I didn’t even know who they were.
But the strange thing was that... none of them were looking at us. Find your next read on novelhall.Côm
Not a single one of them turned in our direction, as if they couldn’t see us or might die the moment they did.
It made the already uncomfortable atmosphere even more tense. As if... we were invisible.
No, as if everyone was deliberately ignoring us.
And yet neither my brother nor the prince, who was walking right in front of him, acted like anything was wrong.
They were calm. The prince even had a little smile on his face that he didn’t remove.
And so we went up a few floors inside the palace, and as we continued to move through the complex corridors... we finally came to a certain room. The prince and my brother finally stopped.
There were two guards standing in front of the door of the room, and they were the ones who opened it.
The door revealed a rather large room behind it. It looked like a... simple living room, actually. There was a rather large table in the center, surrounded by wide and long couches. The walls were decorated with delicate carvings that were quite pleasing to the eye, accompanied by a few eye-catching paintings. There was no need for lighting, it was still early in the morning, but the large chandelier hanging from the ceiling was large enough that no other source of light was needed.
The prince took one of the single armchairs in the center of the room. And my brother did the same, a little away from him.
As the door was closing behind us, they both behaved as they had done so far.
But when the door closed completely, that’s when the change occurred.
No matter how much my brother remained the same, the smile on the prince’s face suddenly disappeared. The casual-looking smiling expression on his face was replaced with seriousness, his green eyes quickly focused on me. My brother also did the same.
"Come closer to us, Clara."
It was only after my brother’s words that I realized I was still standing where I was, almost afraid to approach them.
I swallowed slightly so that no one would notice, and slowly approached one of the couches furthest away from the prince, which was also relatively close to my brother.
After I sat down... the prince spoke in a completely different way than before.
"It’s nice to meet you, I don’t think I need to introduce myself again... but I apologize if I’ve been uncomfortable."
Although his face was very serious... there was a hidden sincerity behind it. And as uncomfortable as it had been before, it was also serious.
"No problem..."
He took his eyes off me for a brief moment and turned them toward my brother after my words, as if seeking approval.
All my brother did was simply nod his head. Then, the prince continued.
"First of all, how long ago did you awaken the system?"
"About eleven months, toward the end of January."
He paused for a moment, his brow furrowed.
"You’re... three to four months away from turning eighteen, right?"
"Yes."
"Oh..."
He seemed honestly surprised.
He hadn’t heard anything that wasn’t surprising, to be honest.
After all, I had awakened before I was seventeen, according to what I had said.
That was much, much earlier than the average.
"What’s your Mana Efficiency stat?"
"A+ right now."
He narrowed his eyes slightly at my answer.
"And you gained the Clairvoyance skill upon your awakening?"
He asked his question simply, actually.
He hadn’t done anything, his tone hadn’t even changed.
But for some reason... I suddenly found myself with my nervousness multiplied many times over.
And a word suddenly came to my mind.
"Light..."
After me, he spoke again.
"Chaos..."
And I did the same again.
"Order..."
...
A specific memory popped into my mind, a memory from a long time ago.
One from when my brother was still fighting in the Holar.
Around that time, I had a dream... or rather a string of words that I heard, but I was sure it was not a simple dream.
The old man didn’t say another word after that.
And in that silence... I finally understood what he wanted from me.
"Dragon."
He wanted me to continue.
"Phoenix."
And that’s what I did.
"Nothingness."
The tension inside me, I don’t know why, slowly disappeared.
I found myself feeling much more relaxed.
"Death."
I paused after the last word, I couldn’t help waiting for a brief moment.
Because... it was not a simple word.
Unlike other words, it had a small detail.
"An unavoidable death..."
It was deeper.
"A death that fate condemns to happen, even if it is postponed..."
And... this death did not feel like the end of the prophecy.
It was more like... the opposite, the beginning.
It was backward, the prophecy.
At least that’s what it felt like to me.
"..."
When I realized that I had nothing more to say, I felt the need to open my eyes, and what I saw was the old man himself, with a very wide smile on his face.
And he was also the one who broke the silence in the room again.
"The time of impending doom draws near, Catastrophes loom, and the end seems clear."
Again... with a prophecy.
The one that I knew, again.
"No one can halt the relentless plight, Only slow its march, against endless night."
He wanted me to continue in the same way as before.
"Six alone bear the world’s desperate plea, To avert the abyss, to set mankind free."
But after that, when I was going to go on and on... he raised his hand and stopped me.
"No need for more, thank you."
As he lowered his hand... there was not only a smile on his face, but a satisfied expression, and with it, relief.
"Congratulations, young miss."
But, strangely...
"You are now officially one of the three seers of Lunerra. And one of the two of Cevilian."
For some reason, a little sadness accompanied this expression of his.
"Thank... you?"
Why, I can’t help but wonder...
