Chapter 11: Little Stories from the Past
Chapter 11: Little Stories from the Past
"Then it's settled, Miss Hamilton." Before leaving, Dumbledore nodded slightly and confirmed again, "I will inform the Ministry of Magic once you have your new wand."
"Mmm...mmm!" Loila pursed her lips and clenched her hands, looking impatient.
Seeing how motivated she was, Dumbledore smiled gently, opened the door, and left.
"Um... Miss Hamilton." Lupin subconsciously wanted to remind her, seeing Loila's expression, that based on her understanding of the Ministry of Magic, working there might not be that interesting.
But as soon as he opened his mouth, he worried that it might disrupt Dumbledore's plans... So he opened and closed his mouth somewhat awkwardly, and finally could only say, "The wand probably won't be ready for a while."
"You should get some rest these next few days."
After saying that, he pushed open the door and prepared to leave.
"Please...please wait a moment...Mr. Lupin." But the timid girl called out to him from behind.
"Is there something wrong?" Lu Ping paused for a moment and turned slightly to the side.
"Um... do you have any books about magic arrays...?" Loila whispered, "And things like pens and paper..."
"I'd like to...do some research in the next few days..."
"Is that so?" Lupin felt a slight headache coming on, after all, he had never even heard of this kind of book before...
"If it's too much trouble, then forget it... I'm sorry to make such a request." Loila's voice trailed off.
Seeing her like this, Lupin sighed softly, "I'll go to the bookstore and take a look."
"Well... thank you so much! You're so kind to me, Mr. Lupin!"
"Clatter".
As the door closed, Lupin stood in the doorway for a few seconds in silence… He seemed to have been a little too nice to Miss Hamilton…
But why is that?
Is it because she's my friend?
Or is it... because she's like me?
Lupin shook his head at the thought of the girl who tried her best to cover her ears and hair with a hood.
How could that be?
How could a dirty werewolf and a Veela possibly be the same kind of person?
He left with somewhat weary steps.
Loila, however, was completely unaware of all this. She lay sprawled on the bed, her pointed ears bobbing excitedly.
He was about to see the magical arrays and mechanisms that pure-blood wizards had treasured for so many years! Would there be any that his father hadn't mentioned? Or perhaps those that were unique...
Loira wished she could go with the Ministry of Magic right now...
and many more……
Loila suddenly frowned.
Am I not fighting for Lord Grindelwald's great cause?
How did I suddenly end up colluding with the Ministry of Magic to investigate so-called dark magic artifacts?!
He was even asked by Dumbledore to...
What did I promise?!
Loila rolled around frantically on the bed until her head hit the corner of the table.
"Hmm."
Clutching her slightly aching forehead, Loila clenched her fists. She had been researching magic arrays and using them to advance Lord Grindelwald's great cause... What... what, helping Dumbledore and the Ministry of Magic?
I'm the one using them!
That's right, use them!
Loila took a deep breath, which gave her a decent reason.
But I'm really tired after a whole day of running around... Maybe I should take a break...
She closed her eyes and soon fell into a deep sleep.
………………
"Loira...come here." In the sunlit courtyard, a kind middle-aged man sat in a chair and beckoned to the slightly timid little girl standing under the eaves: "Daddy has your favorite 'flash' here for you to see."
"Flash... Flash..." Loila pursed her lips and looked at her mother who was holding her hand.
She was a beautiful girl with pointed ears and golden, almost silver hair.
"Let's go take a look," she said softly, releasing her grip.
So, Loila, who also had silver hair, jogged over to her father's side.
"Look...this is it." Her father gently stroked Loila's head as he handed her a small pendant.
As Loila's hand touched the pendant, the star-like pendant began to shimmer.
"So...so beautiful!" Loila said, pursing her lips as she held the pendant high in the air.
"Like the stars in the sky."
"These are the stars in the sky," the father laughed, looking at his happy daughter. "Just like you... the study of magic arrays is as dazzling as the stars in the sky."
"Magic array...learn?" The girl looked at her father in confusion.
"The study of magic arrays is the art of engraving magic onto objects using ancient magic runes and spells..." Before the middle-aged man could finish speaking, the girl who walked over tapped his forehead.
"Philip... do you know Loira is only six years old?" she said helplessly. "Even if you wanted to teach her magic arrays, isn't it too early?"
"It's not too early..." Philip replied with a smile, "It's never too early to learn magic arrays."
"Yes!" The girl clutching the pendant suddenly looked up and exclaimed, "I want to become a magic array expert like my dad!"
"I want to make the study of magic arrays... flourish and prosper!"
"Hahahahahaha." Philip laughed upon hearing this, and the girl beside him chuckled as well.
"Then Daddy will be waiting for little Loira." Philip said, picking up his daughter in his arms. "Don't forget Daddy when you become a master of magic arrays."
"And there's Mom." The girl gently lowered her head and placed a kiss on the girl's forehead. "Mom has certainly provided plenty of lunch for the future master of magic arrays..."
"Okay, okay!" The girl nodded, pursing her lips. "Then Loila will have both Dad and Mom become Loila's students!"
"Hahahaha." The two looked at each other and then laughed even harder.
Seeing the child's puzzled look, Philip's smile gradually faded, and he gently shook his head, saying, "Daddy doesn't want Loila to become some kind of magic array master. Loila just needs to be herself."
"After all..." he paused, then shook his head somewhat helplessly.
"Alright... Philip, don't say these things in front of the children." The girl interrupted Philip and smiled at the girl.
"So, Ms. Loila... can you tell Mom what she wants to eat today?"
"Eat...eat apple pie!"
"Okay... let's have apple pie then!"
Philip watched with a smile as the girl led Loila away until they completely disappeared into the courtyard.
"..."
"Sigh..." After a long while, he sighed softly and slowly picked up the letter on the table.
It was an ordinary letter, seemingly unremarkable, with only ornate handwriting and a considerable amount of content.
But none of that is the point...
Philip lowered his gaze and fixed it on the sender's name.
"Gellert Grindelwald".
