Chapter 54 Big Sister
Chapter 54 Big Sister
After listening to the hotel owner's words, Laoffen looked at Lynn:
"It's probably the work of demons. Should we deal with it?"
"Now that we've encountered this, we can't just sit idly by."
Lynn looked at Cromwell beside him: "Old man, we've got work to do tonight."
Cromwell turned around. "Let's find a place to eat first."
……
As night fell, the town fell into a deathly silence.
After dinner, the three of them walked on the deserted street.
All the lights in the town were out, and only the moonlight shone on the stone-paved road.
Laofen suddenly stopped, her nose twitched slightly, and her expression became serious.
"What's wrong?" Lynn asked.
"There are two very strong magical fluctuations in the forest outside the town."
Laofen pointed to the town's exit.
"Let's go take a look."
Lynn, with his hand on his sword, walked at the front.
It was very dark in the forest.
They hadn't gone far when they heard the sounds of fighting ahead.
The three quickened their pace and saw a female mage in tattered robes fighting a male demon with two horns in an open space ahead.
The demon was surrounded by a dozen skeleton soldiers, their eye sockets emitting blue flames.
The woman swung her staff, and a whip of flames lashed out at the demons, but it was easily blocked.
"They even brought helpers?"
The demons keenly sensed the arrival of Lynn and his companions, their gazes sweeping over them before they said with disdain:
"Humans always like to die in droves, but that's fine, it gives me two more collectibles."
The woman also took the opportunity to glance back, her expression calm: "Although I didn't bring them, their appearance now is truly a godsend."
Lynn quickly scanned the room and made a decision in an instant: "Grandpa, those skeletons are yours and Laoffen's to keep."
"It's nothing."
Cromwell charged forward, carrying his metal mace.
"Scrap!"
The old man roared and swung his spiked club down in a wide arc.
boom!
The first skeleton soldier was instantly shattered into a pile of bone fragments.
"Grandpa, let me help you!"
Laofen paused with her staff, transforming into a shadow, each swing precisely shattering the skeleton's joints.
The demon, seeing his subordinates being overwhelmed by two melee mages, wasn't angry. He simply pointed at Lynn and the woman.
"Take care of you first."
The ground shook, and more than a dozen rock spikes emerged from the ground, piercing towards the two men.
The woman tapped her staff on the ground, and a semi-transparent barrier opened up, blocking most of the rock spikes.
Lynn dodged the remaining few swords to the side, then pushed off with his feet, drawing his sword and shooting towards the demon like an arrow.
The demon snorted coldly, and his figure suddenly blurred.
The next second, the demon suddenly appeared behind Lynn, holding a scythe made of black energy, which he hooked at Lynn's neck.
Lynn didn't even turn his head, and parried upwards with his longsword.
when!
Sparks flew everywhere.
"How did you even realize that?"
The demons were somewhat surprised.
Lynn wasn't going to waste words with the demon. With a flick of his wrist, the sword's edge slashed along the scythe towards the demon's arm.
The demons retreated quickly, but before they could catch their breath, they saw a pair of emotionless eyes.
There was also a sword that had already struck his face.
"Disappear."
Lynn's longsword cleaved down from the demon's head, splitting its body in two and finally turning into countless black magical particles that dissipated into the air.
As soon as he died, all the skeletons stopped moving and then scattered into a pile of bones.
The battle is over.
"Not bad."
The woman walked over; her robe was badly torn, revealing large expanses of dazzlingly white skin, but she seemed completely unconcerned.
"My name is Isa, thank you for your help." The woman extended her hand.
"Lynn".
Lynn shook hands with her.
"It's getting late, let's go back and rest."
Cromwell picked up his spiked club and started walking back.
"Sister Isa, farewell."
After Lynn finished speaking, he and Laoffen followed in the footsteps of the old man.
……
The next day, after the townspeople learned that the demons had been defeated, they put together a grand victory celebration.
The innkeeper was incredibly generous, bringing out his treasured wines and filling the glasses in front of the four of them to the brim.
"Thank you so much, four adventurers, for saving our town!"
The boss, his face flushed, tilted his head back and downed the drink in one gulp.
"Little brother, come here."
Isa picked up the wine jug and refilled Lynn's empty glass. "Thanks to you for your help yesterday."
Lynn glanced at her; the woman had changed into a clean robe, but the style remained bold. "Just a side effect."
"You're from the south, aren't you? Further north is Endai. What are you doing there with a little girl and an old man?"
Isabella swirled her wine glass.
Raphael heard this and puffed out her cheeks: "I'm not a little girl!"
Isabella smiled, didn't argue with her, and turned her gaze back to Lynn.
"Just running errands," Lynn replied casually.
"I also need to take care of some things in Endai. Want to go together?"
Upon hearing this, Lynn paused for a moment, then said, "Please let me think about it."
After saying that, she stood up and said, "I'm full, so I'll go upstairs to rest first."
Beside him, Cromwell, his face flushed from drinking, was grinning foolishly while clutching an empty wine bottle.
Laoffen reluctantly helped the old man up and followed Lynn upstairs.
Isa watched the three figures disappear into the distance, a smile playing on her lips, and finished her drink.
Second floor room.
After settling the old man in, Raofen couldn't help but ask Lynn:
"Lynn, why don't you agree to Sister Isa's offer? She seems like a nice person, and she's very strong. If we travel together, we can look out for each other on the way."
"It's precisely because she's so strong that I need to consider it."
"Why?" Laofen asked, puzzled.
"You can feel the magic emanating from her, right? It's rare to see a mage of this age with such immense magical power."
Lynn's expression was serious. "A person like that must have a significant background, so let's keep our distance until we find out more about him."
"I see."
Raphael nodded solemnly, "I'll do as you say."
……
The next morning, Lynn and his two companions were having breakfast at the restaurant next to the hotel.
Lynn held a spoon and stirred the porridge in the bowl.
Laofen sat opposite, munching on bread.
Cromwell, however, seemed lost in thought, sitting there motionless.
To be honest, the old man could live without eating anything, because the dead don't starve.
Suddenly, a tall figure blocked the light.
It's Isa.
Today she wore a dark purple mage robe with a low neckline.
Good morning, young man.
Isabella rested her chin on her hand, leaning slightly forward.
This position brought her extremely close to Lynn, close enough for Lynn to see the alluring beauty mark at the corner of her eye.
Lynn looked up at her and casually replied, "Good morning."
Seeing Lynn's lukewarm reaction, Isa turned her gaze to Laoffen, who was eating bread across from her, and immediately reached out to pinch Laoffen's chubby cheeks.
"Oh my, the little girl looks so cute eating..."
"Hmm!"
Laofen recoiled warily, clutching the bread in her hands. "I'm not sharing with you!"
Isa laughed heartily, "I didn't mean to steal your food."
After teasing Raofen, Isa turned her gaze back to Lynn. "How's your thinking about what we discussed last night?"
"Miss Isa, Endai isn't far from here. With your strength, traveling alone should be more efficient. We can't go fast with the old man in tow."
