Chapter 58 Repelling
Chapter 58 Repelling
However, the demon army, having lost its commander, did not collapse as expected. Instead, it seemed to be completely ignited by some primal killing instinct.
"Kill them all!"
The demons in the rear roared and led their demon army to press towards the walls of Northern City with even greater frenzy.
Earl Hurst and his warriors were in the middle of their charge. He had been fighting all the way, and his greatsword was chipped and covered in blood.
Lynn's gaze pierced through the chaos of the battlefield, reaching into the shadows further away.
In the future vision, thirty seconds later, the scene shows Lynn and the others being surrounded.
"Old man, stop playing around and clear the way to rejoin our people!"
Lynn shouted.
"No problem!"
Cromwell, the centenarian mage, swung his spiked club swiftly, unleashing a series of impenetrable whirlwind attacks.
Bang bang bang!
Blood and flesh flew everywhere.
Laofen moved so fast that she was just a blurry afterimage. Her staff struck a monster that was trying to sneak up on Cromwell on the top of its head, and she used the momentum to leap up and land next to Lynn.
"Lynn, the magic reaction is wrong."
Laofen pointed to the very back of the demon army, her voice urgent, "There's an unusually powerful surge of magic there."
Lynn looked closely, but saw nothing.
But the next second, a slight tremor came from the ground beneath their feet.
Something is approaching from underground!
As soon as Isha finished speaking, a bottomless crack immediately appeared in the ground at the center of the battlefield!
A huge bone claw suddenly gripped the edge of the crack.
The bone claws exerted force, causing the ground to collapse.
The first dozens of human soldiers to fall were hit.
Earl Hurst looked at the enormous bone claw, a hint of death flashing in his eyes.
He turned to his men, his voice booming like thunder: "Warriors of the Northern City! Put your lives on your swords and charge with me!"
As the earth trembled more violently, soil and rocks flew in all directions, and a skeletal body that blotted out the sky slowly crawled out of the abyss.
It had long since lost its flesh and blood, and when its wings were spread, the tattered wing membranes blocked the thin sunlight above the Northern City.
Within those empty eye sockets, two eerie green flames flickered violently, looking down upon the ants-like beings below.
"Ancient dragon..."
Isa tilted her head back, her voice hoarse, "How could such an ancient monster be assisting the Demon King's army?"
The next moment, the ancient dragon opened its massive mouth full of fangs.
Deep within the throat of this colossal creature, eerie green light began to gather, causing the surrounding space to visibly distort due to the high concentration of magical energy.
Lynn's pupils contracted sharply, and his future vision activated again.
Twenty seconds later, the dragon's breath will sweep away the charging formation of soldiers within the city.
It must be interrupted!
"Grandpa, Raofen! Miss Isa! Aim your spells at the dragon's head!"
Lynn shouted loudly.
"I understand, I understand."
Cromwell raised his mace high, and violent magic surged wildly, causing the surrounding rubble to slowly levitate.
That originally hunched body now appeared as steady as a mountain.
boom!
A pure black beam of light, several meters in diameter, burst forth from in front of Cromwell and struck the dragon's open jaws.
Boom!
A deep, muffled roar shook the heavens.
The ancient dragon's massive head was violently thrown backward by this terrifying force, causing its previously poised Netherworld Breath to completely lose its aim and instantly vaporize a large group of demons behind it.
"Now's the time! Charge!"
He raised the chipped heavy sword high, its blade pointing directly in the direction of Lynn and the others.
Without the slightest hesitation, the thousand-plus Northern warriors followed closely behind their commander, roaring as they launched a desperate charge into the desolate land shrouded in the shadow of the dragon.
"Laofen, provide cover for the old man! Isa, cover him!"
As Lynn spoke, he lowered his body and went straight to meet the bone dragon.
Raofen used "High-Speed Movement Magic" to trace an almost imperceptible zigzag line across the battlefield, landing steadily beside Cromwell. She grabbed the old mage by the collar and pulled him back, shouting, "Old man, retreat!"
In that instant, a colossal claw that blotted out the sky crashed down.
Isa’s pupils reflected the five enormous finger bones, and she quickly cast a defensive spell.
Several massive hexagonal magical barriers opened above everyone's heads, blocking the dragon's skeletal claws as it swung down.
Earl Hurst had already led his troops to close in.
In the shadow cast by the dragon's massive body, this blood-soaked army appeared so small.
At this moment, Lynn was still moving through the chaotic army. Guided by his vision of the future, each swing of his twin swords precisely severed the most critical node in the demon formation.
Count Hurst rushed to Lynn's location, his longsword drawing an arc in the air, severing a demon who was trying to ambush Lynn along with his shield.
The two passed each other in the pool of blood, a bold smile spreading across Hughster's scarred face.
"Young man, excellent swordsmanship!"
"Sir, you're not bad either!"
Lynn replied, then with a backhand stroke, he parried the spear that was attacking him. Using the momentum, he spun around and the blade drew a fatal line of blood on the neck of another demon.
The two stood back to back, battling fiercely amidst the raging tide of demons.
"roar!"
The ancient dragon suddenly roared, and its massive tail, composed of countless bones, swept across.
Before the tail even arrived, the terrifying gust of wind was already making it hard to breathe.
Isha slammed her staff on the ground, and several hexagonal barriers, many times thicker than before, instantly opened up to the left of everyone.
Boom!
The giant tail lashed out at the barrier that Isha had erected, shattering the first barrier instantly, followed by the second, the third...
White magic fragments scattered and flew everywhere like a rainstorm.
Isa groaned, a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of her mouth, but the magically constructed barrier ultimately withstood the final blow.
Almost at the same time, the ancient dragon's other bone wing swept straight toward the location where Earl Hurst was!
"Well done!"
Count Hurst's feet were firmly planted on the ground, his greatsword held horizontally in front of his chest.
"Clang!"
Sparks flew, and Hughster, bent over, was pushed backward more than ten meters by the enormous force, carving two deep furrows in the ground.
But he managed to block it in the end.
"Now!"
Lynn's figure blurred behind the Earl, his future vision having already rehearsed the fleeting flaw in the dragon's neck bone in his mind several times.
He leaped high into the air, his eyes blazing with murderous intent.
A single sword strike!
"Snap!"
A crisp cracking sound rang out.
The ancient dragon froze, its massive head immediately tilting to the side, and then...
It crashed to the ground with a loud thud.
Instantly, the morale of the demon army plummeted.
It's unclear who was the first to turn and run, but the massive demon army instantly crumbled into disarray, scrambling to flee in the direction they had come from.
Watching the Demon King's army recede like a receding tide, Count Hurst finally loosened his grip on the heavy sword and looked at Lynn, who was panting.
"Thank goodness you're here, otherwise we would have had to sacrifice at least half of our soldiers to defeat the Demon King's army."
