Chapter 25 Severing Ties Between Relatives and Friends
Chapter 25 Severing Ties Between Relatives and Friends
The top of the black castle was empty and quiet, with everything in sight covered in white snow.
"What are you looking for?" the boy asked the girl, looking at her standing in front of him holding a teddy bear.
"Friends, I want to find friends." The girl's voice trembled slightly as she spoke to the boy, intimidated by his imposing presence, but she still managed to say it.
"Friends... well, they're really hard to find here." The boy looked troubled, patted his forehead, then rolled his eyes. "How about I be your friend? I can be your good friend too."
Looking at the other person, the girl hesitated for a moment before nodding, "Okay."
She wasn't ready to be friends with the boy in front of her, after all, they had only met a few minutes ago, but looking into his round eyes, she couldn't bring herself to refuse him.
The other person's eyes looked just like the baby seal she had seen at the dock, with the same pitiful expression.
"Okay, then we're friends." The boy had a sly smile on his face. "And as friends, we should help each other, right?"
As the boy moved closer to the girl, his eyes began to glow, as if molten gold had dripped into them, illuminating the girl's eyes with a golden hue.
.................
The pain from falling from a great height jolted Lu Mingfei awake. He opened his eyes abruptly and was greeted by a lush green forest. For a moment, he felt somewhat dazed, but then someone behind him delivered a sharp blow to his forehead, jolting him awake.
"What are you doing? Lost your soul?" Jiang Mingzi looked at Lu Mingfei, who had fallen from the sky without using any protective magic, with a sinister gaze: "Not even using a protective spell? So, it seems someone has forgotten the results of my training?"
Lu Mingfei looked up blankly and saw the nightmare of the past three months right behind him. Jiang Mingzi, dressed in white robes, sat cross-legged on a sword, looking at him with a somewhat gloomy expression.
"Looks like some loser wants some special training from this immortal lord."
Lu Mingfei remembered that he had been dialing the number of the nanny group that Lu Mingze had left in his room, but when Lu Mingze appeared beside him, he immediately felt dizzy and fell asleep, as if he had a dream.
Just as he was reflecting, a chilling voice pierced him like an icicle.
"Hmph, very well, you dare to disregard this Immortal Lord? This Immortal Lord will hang you up..."
Seeing that Lu Mingfei was ignoring her and talking to himself, Jiang Mingzi's face grew increasingly gloomy. Just as she was about to get angry, Lu Mingfei suddenly pounced on her and hugged her like a koala.
"Ah... Ah! Master, your disciple misses you so much." Lu Mingfei's voice was choked with sobs.
Jiang Mingzi: "........."
The voice was so pitiful that even Jiang Mingzi, who had originally intended to throw Lu Mingfei away, was taken aback and couldn't figure out what the loser in front of her was up to.
Lu Mingfei wasn't crying, of course, but crying was the best option right now. Otherwise, judging from Jiang Mingzi's expression, he might just die on the spot.
"What's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?" Even with his brows furrowed, he didn't kick Lu Mingfei away. At this moment, Jiang Mingzi actually acted like a good teacher.
"No, it wasn't a nightmare."
Seeing that Jiang Mingzi was no longer angry, Lu Mingfei slowly loosened his fingers from the other's sleeve. His heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled, but he felt a sense of emptiness. He looked up at Jiang Mingzi's face. The other had tucked his long hair into the brim of his plain hat, leaving only a few strands of hair sticking out from his temples.
Jiang Mingzi noticed Lu Mingfei's gaze and raised an eyebrow: "What, haven't you seen this immortal lord's unparalleled charm? How about I show you my female form? I guarantee it will dazzle your eyes."
"No, no, no, forget it." Lu Mingfei shook his head like a rattle-drum. "I don't have such strange fetishes."
"What? Is my female form unattractive?"
Lu Mingfei couldn't help but roll his eyes at Jiang Mingzi, wanting to say something, but could only sigh.
Heaven knows why this cheap master in front of me is so proficient in transformation techniques, so proficient that when he transforms into a woman, even the curve of his eyes and the gentle movements of his arms are as if they are etched into his bones. He would transform into a girl to provoke Lu Mingfei for no reason, and even had the audacity to say that he was training his willpower.
She was undeniably beautiful, but Lu Mingfei was always terrified and shrank back; he felt a chill run down his spine.
Who would be interested in a fake woman who is actually a man? This bastard immortal is just spouting nonsense.
"Tell me, what happened after you activated that spark? What did you encounter?" After teasing him, Jiang Mingzi stopped getting angry and began to ask, "What did you discover that could turn you into this loser?"
"Just as we expected, I went back after the spark was activated." Lu Mingfei sat down cross-legged. "After I went back, I encountered the same man-eating creature, not a mage, but a corrupted hybrid undead servant."
"Deadpool, what is that?" Jiang Mingzi's eyebrows twitched as soon as he heard the words "eat people," as if he had been pricked by a needle, but he suppressed it and asked with a frown.
"The offspring of humans and dragons are called hybrids," Lu Mingfei said, head bowed. "And those who inherit dragon blood but cannot control its corruption will become Deadpools."
His voice lowered further, his head bowed even lower, and he curled up into a ball, like a stray cat soaked by the rain on the street. "I think... I'm also of mixed race."
The wind carried the earthy scent unique to this era, along with the chirping of insects from the mountains, stretching the silence between the two of them into a long period.
"Mixed-race..." Jiang Mingzi muttered the word to himself, walked up to Lu Mingfei, and pulled him up.
"What are you afraid of?" he asked.
Jiang Mingzi could feel Lu Mingfei's body trembling slightly. After thinking for a moment, he flicked Lu Mingfei on the head, his fingertip still resting on his forehead. "Are you thinking that if you also become one of those so-called Deadpools, will your master take care of you?"
"...........yes."
Lu Mingfei covered his forehead, not daring to look into Jiang Mingzi's eyes. Those eyes, which always held a teasing tone, would become like unsheathed swords, frighteningly bright, once they encountered the words "legal corpse."
He knew all too well the hatred his cheap master harbored for corpses; he took pleasure in torturing and killing any he encountered. If he were to become something like a corpse himself, the consequences...
The moment the thought crossed his mind, he shuddered. He couldn't picture it, nor did he dare to imagine it.
"You idiot, no, Lu Mingfei."
Lu Mingfei froze, subconsciously raising his head—Jiang Mingzi's eyes were frighteningly bright, without a trace of teasing, even the wind in the air seemed to have stopped, with only the distant chirping of insects buzzing.
"If one day I become a corpse, do not hesitate to kill me."
Lu Mingfei opened his mouth, but like a frozen fish, he could only manage to utter a single "ah" after a long while.
Before Lu Mingfei could ask any questions, Jiang Mingzi's words came down again: "Similarly, if you become a Dharma Corpse, I will kill you too."
"Friends and relatives will become estranged; good friends will destroy good friends."
Lu Mingfei stood there, stunned, his mind buzzing, as if he had been hit on the head with a club.
Suddenly, a hand landed on his head, the palm warm—it was Jiang Mingzi's hand. Just moments ago, he had spoken as coldly as ice, but now his fingers were gently stroking his slightly messy hair, his tone carrying a helpless smile.
"But you're different. No matter what kind of Deadpool you are or what kind of half-blood you are, it's all a small matter."
"You are now a seeker of the Dharma. The bloodline in your body can only affect your physical body. Your Dharma body is your foundation. As long as your Dharma body is unobstructed, everything else is just fluff."
He sighed and lightly flicked his foolish apprentice's forehead with his fingertip: "What are you thinking about? Are you stupid?"
Lu Mingfei's nose suddenly stung with tears, as if something soft had struck his heart. He looked down at the mud splatters on the tips of his shoes, his voice barely audible, like a mosquito's buzz: "Master..."
The wind swept away the fallen leaves, rustling past their feet, lightening the heavy atmosphere. Only the warmth of Jiang Mingzi's hand remained on Lu Mingfei's head.
It's as warm as a newly sprouting bud in spring.
