Chapter 26 Ghostly Encounters
Chapter 26 Ghostly Encounters
This was a flat boat about half a meter long.
It is bluish-gray in color, with an eerie, ghostly glow.
The bow of the ship resembles a ghost's head, with a ghostly green lamp hanging from its lower jaw.
The wick burned with a pale blue flame, the flickering light casting tiny, dappled shadows.
Two jet-black chains, covered with densely engraved runes, hang from either side of the bow.
The stern trailed a long, narrow black mist trail, making it look from a distance like a ghost ship emerging from the underworld.
"This boat would probably scare a child to tears, wouldn't it?"
Lin Mo circled the small boat a few times, marveling at it, and becoming increasingly satisfied.
He immediately leaped into the water and landed lightly on the boat.
A cold sensation immediately came from beneath my feet, like stepping on ice.
A cool, shady aura crept into his body from the soles of his feet.
"This is practically a built-in air conditioner!"
Lin Mo sighed, then his mind stirred, and his spiritual power surged into the card.
The next instant, a faint, eerie light emanated from the Wraith Boat, transforming into an invisible barrier that enveloped him.
Immediately afterwards, the black fog at the stern suddenly thickened.
The vengeful spirit boat rose silently and slowly, about three feet off the ground, and glided rapidly forward.
Lin Mo maneuvered the Wraith Boat, gliding at low altitude all the way.
The boat felt incredibly light, and turning, starting, and stopping were all extremely smooth, almost like an extension of my own arm.
Even on narrow forest paths, it can move nimbly without any hindrance.
After driving for a while, Lin Mo had a sudden thought and activated the skill [Styx - Rapid Travel].
The speed of the vengeful spirit boat increased dramatically in an instant, with only the whistling wind filling the air, and the surrounding trees and bushes rushing past.
In the blink of an eye, they had driven hundreds of meters away.
Lin Mo sat in the cabin, feeling as if he were floating on clouds.
"This speed is comparable to that of a high-speed train!"
Lin Mo compared the two and secretly rejoiced: "Luckily, I have the protection of the vengeful spirits provided by the boat, otherwise this cold wind hitting my face would probably hurt a bit!"
After navigating for a while, Lin Mo maneuvered the Soul-Slaying Boat to descend from the sky and land steadily on the lake beside the park.
He immediately activated his spiritual power, and the Wraith Boat glided rapidly across the water, its speed indeed twice as fast as gliding at low altitude.
The stern of the boat skimmed across the water without leaving a ripple; all was silent.
Immediately afterwards, Lin Mo steered the Wraith Boat toward the thorn bushes by the lake.
With a sudden sound, the vengeful spirit boat passed by as if it were in an empty place.
"Perfect!"
Lin Mo smiled and maneuvered the Wraith Boat around the park for about ten times, indulging in the thrill of flying before jumping off the boat.
With a thought, the Vengeful Spirit Boat instantly transformed into a wisp of gray-black mist, reformed into a card, and flew back into his palm.
Lin Mo put away the cards, turned and left the park, heading towards home.
I had only taken a few steps when I caught a glimpse of an old woman sitting on a bench not far away.
The old woman was wearing a faded dark blue knitted cardigan; her hair was gray, and she was hunched over.
He placed his hands on his knees and stared blankly ahead.
"Why are there still elderly people sitting in the park at this hour?"
Lin Mo frowned slightly, took out his phone and glanced at the time; it was already 11 p.m.
Logically speaking, most people should be asleep by now.
Especially considering the recent mutant intrusion incident, it's even less likely that someone would stay outside late at night.
Lin Mo didn't think much of it, assuming it was just a resident from the neighborhood who couldn't sleep and came out for a walk.
I didn't pay much attention at the moment, looked away, and continued walking forward.
But after taking only two steps, the old woman's hoarse voice came from behind: "Have you seen my grandson?"
His name is Hao Hao, he's three and a half years old, wearing a red coat, with a round face and big eyes...
"child?"
Lin Mo was stunned and stopped instantly.
He didn't seem to have seen any children.
After a moment's hesitation, Lin Mo slowly turned around and looked at the old woman: "Grandma, I'm sorry, I didn't see the child you mentioned."
Think about it carefully, did Hao Hao go somewhere else to play?
The old woman raised her head, her cloudy eyes looking at Lin Mo, and gently shook her head, her voice growing increasingly hoarse:
"No, he wouldn't go anywhere else. We were just playing in this park, and he disappeared in the blink of an eye... Hao Hao, my Hao Hao..."
As she spoke, she began to sob softly, looking quite pitiful.
A pang of pity swept through Lin Mo's heart. He had intended to use his spiritual senses to search the vicinity for any trace of the child.
But the thought of needing to consume a huge amount of mental energy to enter a state of spiritual awareness made her subconsciously feel uneasy, so she immediately comforted her, "Grandma, don't worry too much. Maybe Hao Hao has already gone home. You can keep looking, and if you really can't find him, you can contact the police station for help."
After saying that, he shook his head, turned around, and continued walking forward.
The two were not related, and he couldn't possibly stop to help her find her child; he could only pray that the child was alright.
Moreover, it's really hard to believe that a child would get lost so late at night.
But after walking about ten steps, the path under his feet suddenly became somewhat familiar.
There it was again, the same bench, with the old woman still sitting there, hunched over, staring blankly ahead.
Before Lin Mo could react, the old woman raised her head again and asked in the same hoarse tone, "Have you seen my grandson?"
His name is Hao Hao, he's three and a half years old, wearing a red coat, with a round face and big eyes...
The same vocabulary, the same tone,
Even their expressions were exactly the same.
Lin Mo froze, and the hairs on his body stood on end instantly.
A chill ran up from my tailbone and down to my skull.
He turned his head sharply to look behind him.
He was horrified to discover that the path he had just walked on had mysteriously vanished.
No, to be precise, it was covered by a white mist.
It was as if he was the only person left in the entire world.
Just then, a crisp tapping sound came from within the white mist, mixed with faint laughter...
The sound was very close, as if right next to his ear, but he couldn't see a single person.
Even more critically, Lin Mo's mental energy was draining away at an alarming rate.
It feels like something is being sucked out through your pores.
In just that short time, Lin Mo felt that his spiritual energy had decreased by about one-fifth.
"Being trapped in a maze..."
Lin Mo's heart skipped a beat, and his expression turned serious.
Such strange phenomena were recorded in "Tales of the Nine Provinces," mostly small realms formed by the fusion of the obsessions and resentments of the deceased with their surroundings.
Those trapped within will repeatedly walk the same path, finding it difficult to break free.
"This old woman is probably a deformed variant born from this ghost wall."
"If we want to leave, we must first deal with this old woman."
Upon realizing this, Lin Mo's eyes sharpened, and his mental energy stirred his heart.
In the next instant, two tall figures appeared, standing on either side of Lin Mo.
The left general has a white face and an angry look, wearing a silver helmet and armor, and holding a trident. The right general has a red face and an angry look, wearing a black robe and holding a peach wood sword!
It was none other than Shen Tu and Yu Lei!
