Chapter 89 The Slytherin Courthouse Causes Trouble and Arrests the Entire Family
Now, in the Slytherin common room, the students were all taken aback when they saw Dumbledore appear with a group of house-elves.
Looking at this group of wizard lackeys, their faces were no longer as submissive as before; each one of them had a taut expression, standing in front of, behind, and to the left and right of Dumbledore. It was truly like judges of hell lining up before the King of Hell, or lackeys obeying orders in a hall of righteousness.
Upon seeing the Headmaster's face, the two Prefects of Slytherin quickly put away their wands and respectfully said, "Good evening, Professor Dumbledore. We are currently apprehending a Gryffindor spy who has infiltrated Slytherin."
Draco, equally enraged, brandished the Gryphon robes and shouted, "That's right! Those guys attacked me and slandered my innocence!"
"This robe is the evidence!"
The remaining students immediately became noisy, shouting all at once, wishing they could immediately storm the Gryffindor Tower and demand an explanation.
The students were all brimming with anger, but Dumbledore's face remained calm and composed, a faint smile playing on his lips. Only a cold, gloomy voice came from behind him.
"So you're telling me you just watched a Gryffindor walk in and then let him swagger away?"
"Are your brains filled with nothing but dung?!"
The students were startled and looked in the direction of the sound, only to see Snape emerge from behind Dumbledore. Looking further to the side, they saw the heads of the three houses—Gryphon, Hound, and Badger—also present.
Seeing their headmaster's ashen face and furrowed brows, resembling a demon, the Slytherin students who had been making a ruckus just moments before shrank back, not daring to respond.
"A young Gryffindor has barged into the Slytherin common room?" Dumbledore asked, feigning surprise. "Severus, Minerva, you two will handle this."
Snape nodded, and McGonagall tightened her lips.
Draco, holding the Gryphon robe, paused for a moment, then asked doubtfully, "Professor Dumbledore, weren't you here to deal with an trespassing incident?"
"Oh, I'm sorry, Draco, but actually I'm here to conduct a safety hazard inspection."
Upon hearing this, Draco felt a sudden chill run down his spine. He recalled the diary he had blurted out in the dormitory earlier, and he knew that he had been set up and that all of this was aimed at him.
The Slytherin students nearby, upon hearing this, also began to whisper amongst themselves.
"Safety hazard investigation?"
"Does this mean they're going to search our personal belongings?"
"Is this targeting our college, or is the entire university being investigated?"
"This has never happened before..."
The Slytherin students were buzzing with discussion, their words filled with distrust and their eyes with disbelief.
Seeing this, Dumbledore smiled and said, "The students from the other houses have already agreed; now it's just a matter of you."
It should be known that the students of the Slytherin House have always prided themselves on their noble lineage and have been openly and covertly fighting with the Gryphon, Eagle, and Badger Houses for thousands of years, and are indeed at odds.
Now that all three courts have agreed, even if I have a thousand reasons not to and ten thousand reasons not to, I must agree now.
If you leave behind a reputation for being malicious and gossipy, how will you be able to stand up straight and hold your head high when you meet the students of the three academies in the future?
Thinking of this, the students did not hesitate any longer, nodding their heads and agreeing verbally, thumping their chests loudly.
Some of the more astute individuals noticed something amiss, but remained silent, merely observing with cold eyes.
The Gryffindor student who sneaked into the lounge had only been gone a short while before these professors came to check for some kind of security hazard. Isn't that a bit too much of a coincidence?
Seeing this, Snape said coldly, "What are you all standing there for? Go and call all the students in the dormitories out."
"A safety hazard inspection is necessary!"
When the alert students heard Snape say the same thing, they immediately lowered their guard.
The dean has already agreed to conduct the so-called safety hazard investigation, so what else do they have to worry about? Surely the dean of their own college can't side with Gryffindor, can he?
Several clever and quick-witted students immediately got up and headed to their dormitories. In no time, all the students from the Slytherin School were gathered in the lounge.
After the headcount was completed, Dumbledore snapped his fingers again, and half of the house-elves instantly teleported to the dormitory to search, while the rest remained in the common room to be searched.
It should be noted that these house-elves had all received secret instructions from Harry before they arrived, and knew that the dark magic items they were searching for were books and papers. Therefore, they first rushed to each bag and pack, and searched them very carefully.
The lounge had been ransacked, while outside Harry sat cross-legged, pondering how Draco had spotted his weakness.
If it's said to be inappropriate language, or that it sounds ancient but is not contemporary, then when he was searching for Dumbledore, he and Hermione had already learned that phrase, saying that it was no different from what is used today.
If it's an irrelevant answer or a mismatch, he and Ron discussed it several times. Even if Pansy really had some dirty dealings with Draco, it would be difficult to spot the flaw in a single sentence.
His mind was filled with doubts, and he couldn't figure it out no matter how hard he tried. He felt that there was something strange about the matter.
As Harry was pondering this, he suddenly heard footsteps. He looked up and saw Snape strolling towards him.
"Mr. Potter, you'd better pray that you actually find some Dark Lord's notes or homework or something."
He leaned down and stared intently, saying each word clearly, "If we find nothing, then we'll have to have a serious talk about your trespassing into the Slytherin common room."
Snape was trying to intimidate Harry, but Harry was no coward and wouldn't fall for it.
He immediately retorted, "Professor, you should mind your own business and not worry about what's going on in other people's lives."
"If I were to actually uncover what kind of damned books Voldemort wrote, I would certainly give you a piece of my mind about this sin of fostering trouble and failing to properly supervise him!"
The two were exchanging sharp words, their arguments fierce, when suddenly there was a soft "poof" sound, and a cloud of white smoke exploded beside them, revealing the figure of a house-elf.
When the elf saw Harry, he trembled violently, his throat tightened, and he spoke in a shaky voice:
"Harry, Mr. Harry Potter... We are so sorry, we searched the entire dormitory and every corner of the common room... We used every magic we could think of..."
"But we really didn't find the black magic item you mentioned!"
Upon hearing the elf's words, Snape's face showed a hint of sarcasm. "Oh dear, Mr. Potter, what a pity, it seems you have no chance to convict me."
"Looks like we need to talk about your trespassing in the Slytherin common room now!"
The Church, with its all-encompassing search of Slytherin, dug three feet into the ground but found no trace; the search yielded nothing, and the slick-haired professor returned empty-handed, only to be met with mocking laughter. To find out how Harry dealt with the situation and what decision he made, please read the next chapter.
