Chapter 48 Schwarz's Apology
Chapter 48 Schwarz's Apology
As soon as Schwarzro appeared, he attacked Chen Feng, who was standing next to Clara.
Unfortunately, Schwarzkopf's attacks were as soft as bread in front of Chen Feng, unable to harm him in the slightest.
Chen Feng used only one finger to firmly block the huge metal fist, preventing it from advancing an inch.
Seeing that his attack had no effect, Schwarz quickly assessed the difference in strength between the two sides—the calculations revealed a glaring crimson warning.
Without the slightest hesitation, it immediately abandoned its attack. Its mechanical arm shot out like lightning, gently yet firmly pulling Clara behind it into its massive metal body. It then quickly retreated several steps, protecting Clara firmly behind it.
Its red mechanical eyes were fixed on Chen Feng, emitting a cold, electronic voice: "Extremely high-energy individual detected—extreme danger! Leave Clara! Repeat, leave Clara!"
"Mr. Schwarz!"
Clara was startled by this sudden turn of events and quickly peeked out from behind Schwarzro, anxiously waving her hands to explain, "No! Mr. Schwarzro! You've misunderstood! This older brother is a good person!"
Schwarz's mechanical head tilted slightly, scanning Clara's expression. "Clara, safety status confirmed? No coercion detected—Preliminary assessment: credibility of statement—high."
Although its electronic voice remained cold, the tense hostility had noticeably lessened, but its massive body still did not relax its protective stance towards Clara.
"Pfft." Seeing the big iron block nervously protecting its cub, Chen Feng couldn't help but laugh out loud. He withdrew his hand and casually patted off non-existent dust.
"Hey, big guy, that's a really enthusiastic greeting. Do I look like the kind of bad guy who would bully little girls?" He spread his hands, looking completely innocent. "I'm a law-abiding, helpful young man."
Seele realized what was going on. Although she didn't like Swallow, this "troublemaker in the lower city," she was even more aware of Chen Feng's importance.
She yelled at Swallow in an annoyed tone, "Hey! You brute! What's wrong with you?"
"It's alright, it's alright, they were just trying to save lives." Chen Feng waved his hand and stepped forward to face Schwarz.
"Let me briefly introduce myself, it will make the subsequent procedures easier." Chen Feng paused and then said, "My name is Chen Feng, the envoy of the Storage Guard. In terms of status, I should be your superior."
"Storage—Command—" Schwarz's database clearly has a very high weight record for this word.
"Highest Authority Command Related Keywords - Related Historical Records Detected - Star Core Crisis Lifted - Confirm -"
The massive robot fell into a brief silence, seemingly processing the information.
Bronya stepped forward as well: "Mr. Swallow, I am Bronya Rand, the current acting guardian of Lord Cocolia. I can assure you that Mr. Chen Feng is a benefactor of Belloborg and has no ill intentions whatsoever."
Schwarz's mechanical head turned to Bronya, scanning to confirm her identity. "Bronya Rand - Identity verified - Heir to the High Guardian - Credibility of statement - Extremely high."
It finally relaxed its guard, revealing Clara completely, but still stood beside her.
Analysis result: Judgment error. Apologies to the target individual: Chen Feng.
Schwarzlo bluntly stated that its procedures probably don't include the emotion of "embarrassment," but the logic of apologizing does exist.
Chen Feng waved his hand dismissively, not taking it to heart at all. Instead, he looked at Swallow with interest. "You're the Swallow Clara mentioned? You look quite sturdy. You've been guarding the Lower City for so many years, you must be tired."
"It's my duty," Schwarz said succinctly.
"Big brother, I'm sorry, Mr. Schwarz didn't mean it. He was just worried about Clara—" Clara ran up to Chen Feng, looked up at him, and said apologetically.
"I already said it's okay," Chen Feng said with a smile, ruffling Clara's white hair. "Do I look like such a petty person?"
"No!" Clara shook her head vigorously, a smile returning to her face.
Chen Feng looked at Seele and Bronya: "How's the supply search going on your end?"
Seele raised her chin and pointed to several boxes that had been searched not far away: "Look, found them. Lucky us, they weren't destroyed by monsters. Use them sparingly, they should last for a while."
Although her tone was still a bit harsh, the look in her eyes as she looked at Chen Feng and Bronya, especially after seeing how Bronya had defended Chen Feng and tried to ease the tension, had largely dissipated her hostility.
Bronya nodded in agreement: "Yes, thanks to Seele's familiarity with the area."
"That's good."
Chen Feng nodded, then turned his gaze to Schwarzkopf and Clara, looked around at the empty ruins of the former amusement park, and finally fixed it on Bronya, saying meaningfully, "Alright, that's the end of the little interlude. Duck, you've arrived at the place. How does it feel? Did it remind you of anything?"
Bronya looked around at the familiar scene—the broken slide, the rusty swing, the empty stage—her brow furrowed as she tried to search her memory.
Some blurry, laughing figures of children seemed to flash before my eyes, but the specific faces and events were shrouded in a thick fog and could not be seen clearly.
"I feel very familiar with this place, extremely familiar with it. Every blade of grass and every tree here, this stage, this perspective—all of these give me a strong sense of belonging."
Bronya's voice carried a hint of confusion: "But—I still can't recall the specific memories—"
She instinctively covered her forehead, feeling a slight stinging pain.
Chen Feng looked at her thoughtfully, without speaking immediately.
Schwarz's red eye also turned to Bronya, seemingly conducting some kind of scanning analysis, retrieving early records of "Bronya Rand" from the database and comparing them with the scene before him.
Seele crossed her arms, looked at Bronya's troubled expression, pursed her lips, but ultimately didn't say anything more sarcastic.
Clara blinked her big eyes, looking curiously at the older sister from the upper town who seemed to have connections to this area.
"If you can't remember, then don't think about it. It'll only make you more upset. But at least you know this is your hometown now," Chen Feng said, trying to comfort you.
Bronya understood what Chen Feng meant and nodded, but the missing memories still made her feel a little uncomfortable.
"By the way, Schwarz, now that I've taken care of the star core, you should be able to help with the reconstruction work, right?" Chen Feng suddenly thought of something and said to Schwarz.
