Chapter 363 Semifinals
Chapter 363 Semifinals
The next day, the sun shone brightly.
After a day of rest, the Konoha Dome once again welcomed a bustling crowd.
Today, the final spots in the Chunin Exams, a joint competition between the five major ninja villages, will be decided.
"Look over there! It's that Kirigakure girl fighting with acid!"
"Isn't that red-haired girl next to her the one who was being chased by the puppet yesterday? Why are they sitting together?"
In a prime spot in the audience, four girls of similar age but from two different villages successfully attracted the attention of many people around them.
Today, they all changed into the spoils they bought at Konoha Star City yesterday.
Mei Terumi was wearing a light blue dress, her reddish-brown bangs tucked behind her ear with a delicate silver hair clip, revealing her youthful and beautiful face. That hair clip was the one Kana had given her yesterday.
Of course, she paid for her own clothes and meals. She and Hozuki Ann felt bad letting Kana really treat them, and they weren't short of money anyway.
Hozuki Yasunori wore a pink and white striped hooded sweatshirt. Although she was still somewhat socially awkward and hunched her neck, the cute cartoon cat pattern on her chest made her look less like a cold and gloomy ninja and more like a well-behaved girl next door.
On her wrist was a woven bracelet that Jingyin had given her.
As for Kana and Shizune, they changed into matching casual outfits from Konoha's new collection, one bright red and the other light green, and they were still holding the pink piglet Tonton, who was wearing a custom-made vest.
"Xiao Ming, you look so much better with your bangs up! That's how it should be, it's such a waste to cover up such beautiful eyes!"
As Kana stuffed popcorn into her mouth, she turned to Mei and gave her a thumbs up.
Mei Terumi touched the hair clip by her ear, turned her head away somewhat awkwardly, her cheeks slightly flushed: "Nonsense... I only dressed like this because there's no match today."
"Tsundere." Kana's comment was spot on; she'd heard similar phrases from Uncle Fugaku far too many times.
"What did you say?!" Mei Terumi glared at her.
"Alright, alright, the match is about to begin." Shizune quickly smoothed things over, pointing to the center of the ring.
At this moment, Nishikawa Tetsu was already standing on the high platform.
"Ladies and gentlemen! After yesterday's fierce competition, our final four contestants have been determined!"
"They are—"
"The Blue Beast of Konoha, Might Guy."
"Kumogakure's Eight-Tailed Jinchuuriki, Kirabi."
"The Uchiha genius, Uchiha Obito."
"And, Sasori, the researcher of the Konoha Research Institute."
As Nishikawa Tetsu introduced the characters, exciting battle scenes of the four characters flashed across the large screen in turn.
"Now, let's draw the lots for the semifinals!"
"Start scrolling on the big screen!"
At Nishikawa Tetsu's command, the four names on the big screen transformed into countless lights and shadows, which began to spin rapidly.
The atmosphere in the stands was instantly ignited, with everyone nervously speculating about the match pairings.
Kana, clutching the popcorn bucket, said nervously, "Obito is so clumsy. If he runs into Sasori, he'll definitely get beaten up badly by those metal lumps."
"I think if Might Guy were to face Killer Bee, the scene would be absolutely spectacular," Mei Terumi calmly analyzed. "Both of them use taijutsu with an unreasonable kind of violence, so it all comes down to whose taijutsu foundation is more solid."
Although Kana's seal won't last long, at least the Eight-Tails won't be able to participate today, so the two will most likely clash in terms of physical combat.
"stop!"
Nishikawa Tetsu shouted.
The light and shadow on the big screen froze in an instant.
All eyes in the room were glued to the screen.
[First Half: Konoha Village Might Guy VS Kumogakure Village Killer Bee]
[Second Half: Konoha Village Uchiha Obito VS Konoha Village Sasori]
"Wow—!!!"
Upon hearing the result, the entire Konoha Dome erupted in a series of exclamations that seemed to lift the roof off.
"My God! This is truly a battle between pure physical combat monsters!"
"Do you think that kid in green can beat that big black guy from Kumogakure? He has a tailed beast inside him!"
"Obito is going to face Sasori? This is going to be interesting, Sharingan against puppetry."
Kana smiled wryly at Mei Terumi and said, "We were right."
The players' rest area.
Might Guy looked at the name on the screen with great excitement. Having watched the match, he knew that Killer Bee was a formidable opponent.
"Oh, oh, oh! This is the guidance of youth! I've finally met an opponent worthy of burning my blood!"
Kai's eyes burned with green flames as he turned to look at Killer Bee, who was also warming up not far away, grinning with his gleaming white teeth.
"Hey, you big, dark-skinned guy from Yunyin! Your rap is awful, but your fists are hard! Let's have a clash of youth that leaves no regrets!"
Killer Bee stopped writhing, took off his sunglasses, and looked at the boy in the green bodysuit who exuded an amazing fighting spirit.
"Yo~ Green-skinned monkey, that's exactly what I was thinking too! If you think you can defeat me with just that trick, you're sorely mistaken! Yeah!"
Killer Bee put his sunglasses back on and felt the seal within his body.
On the other side...
Obito Uchiha looked at the match list on the screen, swallowed hard, and felt a chill run down his spine.
"It's that red-haired pervert..."
The terrifying image of Scorpion controlling ten puppets to indiscriminately bombard him in the previous match flashed through his mind, as well as the special puppet in the Death Forest that even he and so many others had defeated.
Although the scorpion's puppets are certainly not as monstrous as the special puppets of the Death Forest, there are just too many of them! The saying that qualitative change leads to quantitative change still makes a lot of sense.
"Obito, are you alright?"
Nohara Rin came to the players' lounge, walked to his side, and asked with some concern.
"No, no problem! I'm going to be Hokage! These mere puppets are nothing, I'll use my Sharingan to smash them all to dust!" Obito forced himself to straighten his chest, but his slightly trembling legs betrayed his inner tension.
"Don't try to be a hero, you're the worst."
Kakashi appeared behind Obito at some point, his dead fish eyes rolling back.
"That guy's puppets not only have hard shells, but their firepower covers a very wide area. If you keep trying to fight head-on like before, you'll be turned into a honeycomb in less than a minute."
Kakashi surprisingly offered advice: "Use the Sharingan's perception to find the chakra threads that control his puppets. Once you cut the threads, the puppets are useless. But remember, his real body is the biggest threat."
Obito paused for a moment, looked at Kakashi's serious eyes, and curled his lip: "Tch, I don't need you to teach me, I know what I'm doing."
In a corner not far away, Scorpion stood quietly, as if the surrounding noise had nothing to do with him.
He glanced at Obito, his lifeless eyes devoid of any emotion.
"The Uchiha clan, huh...?"
Scorpion's fingers gently stroked the reel on the back.
On the high platform, the chief examiner, Hatake Sakumo, drew his short sword, the tip pointing towards the sky.
"MattKai vs. KillerBee, first semifinal match!"
"Both players, step onto the field!"
