Chapter 148 Rune's Magical House

Chapter 148 Rune's Magical House

"I'm going to kill a few people," Rune said softly. "A few Hydra spies; some want to join."

Before Rune could continue, the Punisher raised his hand. His eyes were bloodshot, and he shouted, "I join!"

Logan didn't speak, but simply stood quietly beside Rune. He hadn't said anything to Rune, but ever since Rune woke up from class and greeted him, Logan had felt an inexplicable sense of closeness to Rune, as if he were a blood relative. And now, Rune had offered a very tempting condition, making him even more eager to join.

Ideally, Stryker should also be a Hydra spy, so he would have a good reason to kill that beast.

The other heroes exchanged glances. Seeing that no one spoke, Reed stepped forward and asked, "I know you want to kill Hydra spies, but... but how can you be sure they are spies?"

Rune smiled, and Reed felt as if Rune's gaze was about to tear him apart, giving him goosebumps.

Then Rune's expression turned strange, and he asked awkwardly, "37 minutes?"

As he said this, his gaze darted back and forth between Mr. Fantastic Reed and Invisible Woman Susan. Susan was still somewhat confused, but Reed's face had already turned red, and he stood in front of his wife.

"Alright, I know how you identify a Hydra spy!" the persistent man shouted, while Susan's brother, Jonathan the Human Torch, quickly ran to Rune's side, quietly confirming something. After receiving a nod from Rune, the Human Torch ran back, giving Reed a thumbs-up as he did so.

"Wow! I'm truly impressed. Can you tell me your secret? I promise I'll follow your lead from now on!"

Leaving aside the unrest caused by this number, many more people appeared behind Rune, including Blade, Moon Knight, and...

Rakshasa and Erica. Daredevil tried to pull his partner back, but Erica shook her head at him.

Blade, a ruthless vampire hunter, sees Hydra and vampires as lurking reptiles in the shadows, and naturally, he'd lend a hand. Moon Knight is more complex; his kind personality wants to abandon his allegiance to Rune, but his other personalities stand firmly behind him. Erica, a professional assassin, feels no guilt about this "righteous assassination." Logan and the Punisher also have their reasons, but the only thing that puzzles Rune is why Rakshasa followed.

Perhaps sensing Rune's confusion, the Rakshasa woman softly said, "I once absorbed Logan's power—"

Rune suddenly realized that Rakshasa's abilities were not only to absorb Logan's superpowers, but also to see Logan's memories.

It seems that the actions of those high-ranking officials have indeed angered this X-Men, and Rakshasa may even support Rune in carrying out a major purge of the entire US government's top leadership.

Rune nodded to the Rakshasa, then addressed the other heroes standing in place: "I don't dislike any of you; in fact, I admire your sense of justice. However, some things must be resolved by someone. Let us 'dirty' adults handle these bloody matters."

Rune opened a portal, and after all the heroes who supported him entered, he looked back at the others present: "Please uphold your justice, heroes."

D

After saying that, Rune also stepped into the portal. He didn't dislike those heroes with naive sense of justice; they were the true idealists, hoping to achieve peace without bloodshed. But was that even possible?

Look at the plight of mutants under the rule of the US government. They are hunted and killed. If it weren't for Professor X using his brainwave enhancement machine to find new mutants, and Magneto, a mutant comparable to a nuclear weapon, as a threat, mutants would have been killed or put on experimental tables by the US government long ago. Meanwhile, the US government was even able to make deals with vampires simply because vampires are rich.

How can America be governed if it's surrounded by such worms?

However, Rune did not take the group of heroes directly to start the hunt, but instead brought them to his workshop.

"Where am I?" The Punisher warily surveyed his surroundings. This place was rather—well, rather strange. Prosthetic limbs hovered overhead, and the view outside the window was bizarre and distorted. "Welcome to my workshop," Rune said with a smile. Then, with a casual wave of his hand, a staircase appeared in the floor leading down below. "Gentlemen, go and see. There are some wondrous toys I made that will make it easier for you to kill those Hydras."

Looking at the somewhat distracted Moonlight Riders, Rune said softly, "I think you all know how powerful Red Skull is right now, but he definitely can't see you here, so—"

He chuckled softly: "Choose your magical items carefully; they might just save your universe."
