Chapter 9 Changes, The Complete Book of Magic Tricks
Chapter 9 Changes, The Complete Book of Magic Tricks
Follow Victor.
Speechless all the way.
The three left the teaching area and walked deeper into the school, finally stopping in front of a castle-shaped building.
The castle is entirely dark blue-black, with giant stone wolf sculptures standing in front of the gate, and a huge owl perched on one of the sculptures.
The owl's feathers gleamed with a bluish light, as if made of steel. It was nearly half a meter tall and had its eyes closed.
Suddenly, its eyes opened.
Instantly, a powerful aura emanated from them, and even Victor almost lost his footing.
"Little Victor, it's been a long time!"
The owl relaxed when it saw that it was Victor.
"Mickey, I'm here to register new apprentices."
Victor placed his hands on his chest, as if looking at him for even a moment would cost him his soul.
Although Ian and his two companions were surprised that the owl could talk, they still bowed respectfully.
"Only three?"
The owl glanced at the three of them, its eyes gleaming.
"This is the first batch."
"Alright, alright, but little Victor, you didn't even come to see me in the end, I..."
The owl raised its wings and wiped away non-existent tears.
Victor seemed somewhat helpless as he threw out a few magic stones and handed them to the owl.
"Go inside!"
Upon receiving the magic stone, Mickey's eyes lit up, and he beamed with pride.
The three of them went inside.
"Instructor, what was that owl just now?"
As soon as he entered, Rune asked curiously.
"That's Lord Mickey, a magical beast contracted by Lord Horton, responsible for guarding the castle. However, he's a bit greedy, you'll find out later," Victor said as he walked.
Lord Horton?
Was he the founder of the school of thought?
The crowd looked on in surprise, not expecting an owl to have such a background.
As for being greedy for money?
It seems so.
As they walked, Victor introduced them to the academy's three main departments.
These are the Department of Secret Sources, the Logistics Department, and the Combat Department.
The Secret Source Department is responsible for various core affairs of the academy, including personnel allocation and knowledge transmission.
Logistics is handled by various botanical gardens, the alchemy department, and the potions department, which are responsible for providing logistical support to the academy.
As the name suggests, the combat department performs combat functions, and is responsible for tasks such as escort patrols.
And this castle is the core of the Secret Source Academy.
Sure enough, as we followed Victor here, we began to see some wizards coming and going.
Soon, they turned and went into a room on the first floor.
The room was very large, several hundred square meters, with runes carved on the surrounding walls, extending out to candlesticks.
The white flame on the candlestick burned like a divine fire.
Even Ian felt immense pressure at this moment.
At the back of the room sat a gray-robed wizard with empty eyes, replaced by eerie white flames.
"These are three new apprentices."
Victor stepped forward.
The gray-robed wizard nodded, and in the next instant, a white shadow flashed by, startling all three of them.
The next instant, Ian felt a sharp pain in his fingertips.
Then a drop of blood slowly floated up, flew towards the wall, and ignited a ghostly white flame.
The white figure had already flown back to the gray-robed wizard's side; it was a small white snake.
"Let's go."
After leaving the three bewildered individuals, they went to the next room and received the Black Iron Badge, a privilege reserved for first-class wizard apprentices, as well as a set of standard wizard robes.
And most importantly, the magic stones, a total of five, each about half the size of an egg, resembling black crystals yet containing pure magic power.
In addition to these five, they will receive one more each month, and they will also gain access to certain areas of the academy.
The latter is the most precious thing.
This is also the most fundamental difference between academy apprentices and prospective apprentices.
Victor led a few people away from the castle.
Standing before the castle gates, he addressed the group:
"Registration is complete. In a month, you will begin a six-month training program, followed by an assessment and assignment to various departments."
I can only remind you that there are significant differences between departments, especially between core and peripheral departments. The resource gap can be several times larger, so you'd better not let your guard down.
Victor was quite responsible, and the others quickly nodded in agreement.
Ian felt the same way. In fact, after hearing Victor's previous introduction, the department he most wanted to join was the logistics department.
It is safe and has abundant resources.
This also means that the competition will be fierce, so we absolutely cannot let our guard down.
......
After leaving the castle, Victor led the three back to the teaching area.
Merlin and Rune left, but Ian was called back.
"Come with me."
Victor didn't say anything, he just told Ian to follow.
Soon, the two arrived outside a room. Victor went in and came out with a book in his hand.
"Sir, what is this?"
Ian was puzzled.
"The Complete Book of Magic Tricks, which I bought before. Don't you need it? I can sell it to you."
Ian's eyes lit up.
Suddenly, Victor asked another seemingly unrelated question:
"Ian, what level of proficiency have you achieved in meditation? How long can you meditate at a time?"
"Four hourglasses, perhaps."
Ian said.
This was just his previous progress; now that he's broken through, he estimates he should be able to meditate on five or six hourglasses.
"really."
Victor gave Ian a complicated look.
He guessed it.
Otherwise, Ian would never have been able to succeed along with Rune and the others.
That's some magical talent!
It's just a pity that he lacks a bit of talent for meditation.
"Here's what we'll do. I've been using this magic book for a while now, so just give me four magic stones." Victor handed over the book.
Is it really that good?
Ian quickly took out four magic stones.
After receiving the notes, I flipped through them casually and found that there were still some notes inside.
"Thank you, instructor."
Ian knew he had made a great deal and quickly expressed his gratitude.
"You should thank yourself. Also, the academy isn't as safe as you think. Be careful."
Victor waved his hand and left.
If he had better talent, he wouldn't mind investing more, but unfortunately his talent is just average.
"Be careful?"
Ian seemed to be deep in thought.
......
Soon, Ian returned to the house.
Inside the house, Ian began to peruse the complete book of magic tricks.
There are a total of one hundred magic tricks.
Even excluding those he already knew, there were still 95 that he had never seen before.
For the average wizard, learning so much is meaningless.
But for him, it was indeed nearly a hundred talent points.
"If I complete all the training, my talent level might reach 200 points."
Ian pursed his lips.
The extra few points made him realize the difference.
With 100 points, he could probably condense his first mental power rune in less than a month.
It won't even take that long.
"I won't lack tricks for a while; now it's time to focus on my studies and continue meditating."
Ian took a deep breath, a glint in his eyes.
The training of a first-class wizard is achieved by condensing spiritual power runes.
Although they haven't been provided with any further mental runes yet, the mental energy gained through meditation won't disappear.
It will play a role in the subsequent condensation of runes.
......
night.
A mutual aid society's exchange meeting.
Ian was not absent.
Resources are one aspect, but Ian also gradually discovered that exchanging experiences is beneficial for his own experience growth.
It seems that his skill proficiency increases faster through communication.
Anyway, it's only once a week, so it doesn't take up too much time.
This time, he also clearly felt the change in his identity.
As I walked into the room, the gazes on both sides were a mixture of envy and a touch of awe.
"Boss Ian, you're amazing." Colo, the underling, looked at Ian.
Logan looked at him, his expression complex.
At this moment, everyone's eyes were focused on Ian.
There is no doubt that although he founded the mutual aid society, its core has now completely changed.
He was powerless to change it.
Everything is natural.
