Chapter 12: The Bear-Catching Bottle
Chapter 12: The Bear-Catching Bottle
The cabin was old, and the ground was covered with a layer of dust.
The kitchen stove is next to the dining table, the bathroom is next door, and the bedroom is to the left, with the door open, and you can see that it is also empty.
Zhang Ze placed Xiao Zhou on the sofa.
He noticed that there were some paintings hanging in the room that were different from those in the cartoon.
These paintings were all painted with very thick red ink, so red that it was almost black, making it impossible to see what was depicted in the paintings.
There are about four or five such paintings, all hanging neatly on the walls of the living room and bedroom.
"Brother, do you think my drawing is pretty?"
Xiao Zhou pointed to one of the paintings and said.
"Did you draw this?"
"My older sister taught me how to draw it."
"That older sister in the red dress, Uncle Bald Qiang, and Little Bear are all your friends. Are you sure they won't hurt you?" Zhang Ze was still not quite sure what Xiao Zhou was saying.
After all, the scene just now was too dangerous.
A single misstep could lead to being caught in the fighting.
Zhang Ze is now just an ordinary person, without any means to resist vengeful ghosts. If he really encounters one, he will die.
"Yes, really!" Little Zhou nodded seriously.
Looking out the window, the sky was blood red. Zhang Ze closed the window, checked the room to make sure there was no danger, and then sat down and said to Xiao Zhou:
How much do you know about this world?
"You weren't scared at all just now."
Xiao Zhou looked up at an oil painting in the bedroom that was smeared with red ink. "This world is my sister's home."
"The world my sister created. She loved to draw, but she no longer has hands, so she can no longer draw."
"Just like an uncle."
"My uncle was very smart when he was a child, but his father wouldn't let him invent anything, so he had to listen to his father and become a lumberjack. Luckily, he met a little bear and they became friends."
Xiao Zhou then looked at another painting.
It was as if the content of these smeared paintings was the person he was talking about.
"Xiao Zhou, friends don't fight. Friends may have disagreements or arguments, but they will never resort to violence or kill each other," Zhang Ze earnestly told Xiao Zhou.
Judging from what just happened...
There was absolutely no sign of "friendship" between them.
"Wolves and sheep can be friends, so why can't bears and uncles?" Little Zhou said innocently. "Besides, that's how their daily life is."
"Today Little Bear wins, tomorrow Uncle will win."
"No matter how badly you're injured, stung by a wasp, fall off a cliff, or get shot, you'll be back to normal in the second episode!"
Zhang Ze was speechless.
What Xiao Zhou said is absolutely right.
Animated films certainly don't adhere to a realistic style; no matter how severe the injury, the character will recover in the second episode—this is a characteristic of episodic series.
But the world behind the door can't be the same as an episodic drama.
For example, Lao Zhou.
They are dead, truly dead.
Death can happen in real life.
Zhang Ze glanced at the television set, an old-fashioned "big CRT" television that had been obsolete for many years in reality, but was still usable here.
Will the TV have a signal?
A thought popped into Zhang Ze's head.
Try plugging in the power and turning on the TV.
"Sizzle..."
After a period of static, the television screen displayed an image.
Episode 52.
"Bear-catching bottle".
It actually plays normally.
However, after watching the content for a while, Zhang Ze found that it was completely different from the animated storyline in reality.
In reality, the plot of this episode is that the villain, Brother Qiang, bought something called a bear-catching bottle online in order to catch Xiong Da and Xiong Er. He put nuts in the bottle, and when the bears put their hands in, they would grab the nuts and get stuck and unable to pull them out.
An animated series aimed at children.
The episode naturally ends with Qiang Ge's defeat. The two bears easily reached out and beat him up, and even got to eat some delicious nuts.
The version played on this TV was different.
The forest was quiet; apart from the bear cub and the deformed human figure, there were no other small animals. Even the boss, who was supposed to be collecting lumber, hadn't called. It was as if the whole world consisted only of the deformed human figure and the bear cub.
One day, the deformed figure returned to the cabin.
They moved several round porcelain vases out of the warehouse, which were a little wider than ordinary vases, and poured honey into them to make "bear-catching bottles".
The deformed figure placed bear-catching bottles in various corners of the forest.
The little bear discovered the bear-catching bottle and tried to reach for the honey, but unsurprisingly, its hand couldn't get out.
So far, everything is going quite normally.
Aside from the slightly odd art style, the character models don't look like they're computer-generated in normal animation; instead, they seem to be hand-drawn, created bit by bit.
The plot is at least somewhat normal.
However, what happened next made Zhang Ze's eyelids twitch.
He saw that after trying various methods to remove the bottle to no avail, the little bear actually found an axe and chopped off its hand.
The honey jars containing the severed hand were taken back to the tree hollow.
And the little bear got to eat the honey just as he wished.
End of episode!
"Are you kidding me? You call this an animated film?"
Zhang Ze couldn't believe it. Could this animated film actually correspond to the experience of the woman in red, since both films have a scene involving a severed hand? It's hard not to think in the same direction.
"Brother, look, in the next episode, their hands will get better again."
Xiao Zhou said.
In the next episode, the bear's hand indeed returned to normal, and there was no trace of it being cut off.
However, several honey jars appeared in the tree hollow.
Is this the rule of the world behind the door?
No matter how severe the injury, it will recover completely.
Just as Zhang Ze was surprised.
Suddenly, a creaking sound came from the bathroom of the wooden cabin.
"You stay here."
Zhang Ze immediately turned off the TV, told Xiao Zhou to be quiet, and then grabbed a feather duster and peered through the crack in the door into the living room, which was directly opposite the bathroom.
Inside the restroom.
Li Yang, holding his head, staggered out.
"hiss……"
"It hurts so much."
"Did I die again?"
"Damn it... I can't remember anything, but I think Old Zhou's kid and that guy named Zhang Ze came in?"
"We need to find them quickly, otherwise it will be troublesome if they die."
Li Yang has been resurrected.
Zhang Ze remembered that Li Yang had just been killed by the woman in red.
Why was I reborn in a log cabin?
After glancing at the television, an unbelievable thought gradually emerged and took hold of Zhang Ze's mind; he had a vague guess.
Those who enter the world beyond the door will be transformed into beings resembling bears and deformed human figures.
If they die once, they will also die in reality.
However, the soul will be trapped in the world behind the door, and no matter how badly injured or how many times it dies, it will be resurrected in a fixed place.
This number is always kept to 4 people.
The crows will only eliminate the old players and inject fresh blood into the game when new players enter the world behind the gate.
