Chapter 19: Heroes! Rhodes and Natasha's Invitation!
Chapter 19: Heroes! Rhodes and Natasha's Invitation!
three days later.
Bagram Air Base.
After bidding a solemn farewell to Ethan, Tony boarded a military transport plane.
Unlike three days ago, he is now wearing a clean suit, his hair is neatly combed, and he has regained his usual handsome appearance.
"Horn, I must admit I underestimated you before, and I must apologize for that."
Rod's voice came from inside the cabin.
Tony walked in and saw him pick up two glasses of red wine and walk up to Horn.
But just as he was about to hand one of the glasses of red wine to the other person, a slender, fair hand blocked his way. "Why should a child drink wine? I'll drink it for him."
"Child?"
Horn paused for a moment, then a slight smile appeared on his lips. "Ms. Natasha, have you forgotten the lesson from three days ago?"
Seeing this, Tony smiled slightly, silently walked to a seat not far away, picked up a glass of red wine, and said, "Rhodes, you're still as boring as ever. This cabin is so big, and there are only a few of us?"
buzz-
The engine roared loudly.
The transport plane swept across the runway and quickly took off.
Only after entering the predetermined orbit in the stratosphere did Rhodes laugh and say, "What's wrong? Did you get bored after being cooped up for over two months?"
"Hey, kids are here, don't talk nonsense."
Tony glanced in Horn's direction, his face slightly flushed, and interrupted him.
Although he was already famous, he still wanted to maintain the image of a good older brother in front of Horn.
Unexpectedly, the next second, under everyone's gaze, Natasha smiled and stood up, walked to Horn, and then, just like three days ago, sat on his lap as if no one else was there. "Since you want to drink so much, would you like to try my imported wine?"
"Imported wine?"
Horn looked puzzled, seemingly confused, and was about to ask what it meant when, "Hmm!"
His mouth was blocked again, and then he found that a very smooth red wine was flowing into his mouth.
Only then did he realize, "So that's what imported wine means."
He then retaliated fiercely, refusing to back down.
One minute later.
"How is it? Is the imported wine good?"
Natasha got up, tidied her hair, and returned to her seat.
Her face flushed and her body felt slightly hot; she dared not continue.
"Oh? You're already running away? I haven't had enough to drink yet."
Horn tilted his head and looked at her with a mocking expression.
"Tony, the kid you were talking about...were you referring to Horn?"
Rhodes turned to look at Tony beside him.
"Okay, he's really grown up."
Tony shrugged, not seeing anything wrong with it.
After all, he was incredibly skilled at it; compared to him, Horn was practically a blank sheet of paper.
"Back to the main topic, Horn, are you interested in joining our military?"
Rhodes' gaze returned to Horn, and he extended an olive branch to him with a serious expression.
He had always thought Horn was a good boy who grew up under Tony's wing, until the moment he appeared in front of him three days ago, he realized he was wrong, terribly wrong.
Horn shocked him in less than a minute, shattering his preconceived notions of him and forcing him to re-evaluate him.
What he didn't expect was that he actually kept his word and not only successfully rescued Tony safely, but also ensured that the Cheetah Six team, which cooperated with him, returned completely unharmed!
This was nothing short of a miracle for him.
It's important to understand that those in the valley are all vicious, ruthless terrorists who show no mercy to the attackers. Coupled with the weapons they possess, a moment's inattention could lead to their complete annihilation, which resulted in Tony Stark's death. The difficulty of the rescue is unimaginable.
In addition, he learned from Cheetah Six Captain Black Henry's report that during the evacuation, they were blocked by three armed squads. The situation was very critical, and Horn could have abandoned them and taken Tony away alone.
The results of it?
Instead of leaving, he risked everything to go back, found them, and killed all the terrorists who were blocking their way, bringing them back safely!
Over the next three days, the news spread throughout their military and even back home. As it spread, Horn's standing in their eyes continued to rise, until today, he was practically on par with Captain America!
Unbeknownst to him, he had become a hero of the entire army.
If such a legendary figure could be successfully recruited into their military, even if he did nothing, it would greatly boost their morale and reduce the difficulty of recruiting soldiers!
"Join your military?"
Horn paused, looking at Rhodes as if he were a lunatic. "You mean, you want me to abandon my wonderful campus life, give up my status as the second son of Stark Industries, and join your military as a slave?"
"How can you say it's like being treated like an ox or a horse?"
Rod's already dark face darkened even more, but he understood. Horn's status was what it was; he lived a carefree life. Why would he want to join the military and suffer?
"Thank you for your kindness, but I yearn for freedom and dislike being constrained. Military life is not suitable for me."
Rhodes was Tony's friend after all, so Horn couldn't go too far and had to give him some face. Besides, Rhodes had helped a lot this time. So he stood up and gave a proper reason in a very formal way.
"Poaching my people right in front of me? They're completely disregarding me!"
Natasha raised an eyebrow, then immediately stood up defiantly, taking two steps towards Horn, bringing them less than ten centimeters apart. Her breath, carrying the scent of red wine, brushed against Horn's face. She slowly raised her right hand, then extended her index finger, and in a very flirtatious manner, hooked Horn's chin, her eyes filled with a predatory glint.
"Little brother Horn, would you be interested in joining our Strategic Homeland Defense, Attack, and Logistics Agency?"
"What's the Land and Resources Bureau?"
Horn inhaled the pleasant scent lingering at the tip of his nose, his gaze meeting hers without flinching, though a look of confusion crossed his face.
He knew, of course, that she was referring to S.H.I.E.L.D., its original name, but he pretended not to.
"Homeland Strategic Defense, Attack and Logistics Agency".
Natasha didn't understand what he meant and thought he really didn't understand. After all, the name had been criticized within the organization for a long time, so she patiently slowed down her tone and repeated it.
"Not interested."
Horn replied with three words casually, then naturally looked away and sat back down.
"Don't worry, as long as you agree to join our Strategic Homeland Defense, Attack and Logistics Bureau, we can discuss any conditions, and you can have the freedom you want."
Natasha offered the conditions she had prepared long ago.
