Chapter 29 Where is my blanket?
Chapter 29 Where is my blanket?
In the corner of the kitchen, a large pot sat on the stove, emitting a rich aroma.
Su Lan took a deep breath and felt her mind clear up a bit.
This is the pot!
He pointed to the kitchen cabinet in the corner and made arrangements:
"You're more agile. Go over there and make a scene to distract them, then I'll grab the pot and run. How about that?"
Tia glanced at the knights guarding the door, then at the three cooks dawdling in the kitchen, and a plan formed in her mind.
"It should be fine, leave it to me. You be careful too!"
Without hesitation, she burrowed back into the ground.
"Be careful," Su Lan instructed, then tried to use the newly learned "trait."
The target of this assimilation is the ground.
"Softer, softer..." he commanded.
The ground subtly shifted, and the table legs sank slightly.
"There's hope!" Su Lan's expression brightened with joy.
Although it's a bit beneath them to do something like this using superhuman methods, it's certainly discreet, with no magical fluctuations whatsoever!
As long as it's not discovered, who would know it was him who did it?
Focusing her mind, Su Lan pressed on with renewed effort.
Tia had already reached the corner outside the kitchen, and a light shone from her hand: "Earthquake!"
The magic spread, and the walls began to shake.
"Who's there!" The two guard knights at the door fell for the trap and went forward to check.
"A tail? A rat-like monster has invaded!" A knight's expression changed, and he drew his sword warily. "I'll keep watch here. Go and call for help!"
The chefs, who had been hiding well, rushed out the door as soon as they heard the shouts outside.
Just kidding, rat-like monsters love to sneak into the kitchen, wouldn't staying in there be suicide?
"Well done, you even knew how to lure the enemy."
Su Lan praised him and then mustered all her strength to use her "assimilation" ability.
The ground undulated, and the iron pot on it shook along with it.
"What are you all doing out here? Go back and watch the soup. If a rat gets in, you'll be in trouble!" A stern voice came from outside the door.
With time running out, Su Lan couldn't afford to play mind games anymore and directly pulled off a powerful, miraculous move: "Get down here!"
The soil softened instantly and fell like quicksand. The large pot lost its support, tilted, and sank into the ground, spilling a lot of the calming soup.
"What a waste!" Su Lan felt a pang of regret and called to Tia, who had rushed over, "Quickly, help me seal the entrance!"
"Su Lan, when did you learn earth magic?" Tia asked in surprise, but her hands didn't stop.
boom!
The chefs suddenly pushed open the wooden door, looked around warily, and breathed a sigh of relief when they saw no trace of the rat-like monsters.
"Thankfully, it's still relatively safe..."
"Haven't you noticed something seems to be missing from the room?"
"You mean...?"
The chefs' expressions changed drastically. They exchanged a few glances, then tacitly closed the front door and moved towards the back window.
Run out the window!
The pot is gone, and the kitchen is haunted. Should I stay here and wait to die?
Taking advantage of the commotion, Su Lan and her companion arrived at the master bedroom of the villa.
"Should we go in and assassinate the bad guys, or set a trap?" Tia put the pot on the ground, dusted it off, and asked with great interest.
Su Lan realized that Tia, who seemed obedient and harmless on the surface, was actually always thinking about causing trouble and was even more restless than him!
He shook his head: "Don't you think the blankets at home are stiff and damp?"
"Hmm?" Tia blinked.
"Sean is a long-established viscount, very wealthy!" Su Lan said with an envious expression.
"He's using a silk quilt that was shipped from Verland—it's so soft and comfortable. Don't you want to get a few sets?"
Tia looked up at Su Lan, then curled her tail in front of her and stroked it, not quite understanding.
Oh no, I forgot that this ferret doesn't cover itself with a blanket when it sleeps; it covers itself with its tail!
Pre-war mobilization has failed!
Su Lan quickly cleared her throat to salvage the situation: "Anyway, our goal is bedding, at least one set, the more the better, understand?"
Tia understood now.
She simplified things, and only one sentence remained in her mind:
Su Lan wants a new quilt!
Let's go!
After digging escape routes at the windows, stairwells, and back doors, the two took advantage of the patrolling guards' inattention and quickly made their way up to the second floor.
Sneaking upstairs is much more exciting than hiding in tunnels.
Su Lan and Tia, one in front and one behind, covered for each other, bypassed the rooms that were obviously occupied, and tiptoed to open the first door.
It's a storage room.
Using the faint light of magic, Su Lan quickly glanced around and saw only some wine, food, and leaves. She then decisively led Tia away.
The guards will be back soon, there's no time to farm now!
Next to the storage room was a study, where two figures were talking!
Su Lan hid around the corner and peeked out.
The person sitting in the main seat had a round face and looked somewhat familiar; it seemed like I had seen him at a party when I was a child. He was most likely Sean.
The person standing there was clad in full armor, looking like a commander, exuding an extraordinary aura, but at this moment his brows were furrowed.
"How's the exploration of the alien realm going? As Samir instructed, we need to set up the ceremony within a week," Sean asked.
"Lord Sean, I'm afraid this will be difficult," the commander said gravely.
"This alien realm is very special. It is shrouded in mist, and the monsters are skilled at illusions. The knights cannot talk to each other. If they don't rest soon, their mental state may be in danger."
As he spoke, he suddenly turned around and glanced out of the dream world.
"That is indeed a problem. I'll get some more calming items... What's wrong?" Sean looked outside, and everything seemed normal.
"It's nothing, maybe it's just my imagination." The commander turned around and continued reporting to Sean.
Seeing that things were not going well, Su Lan had already retreated and slipped into the next bedroom.
This is the master bedroom, decorated very luxuriously.
A large bed was placed in the center, several wardrobes were placed in the corner, and a portrait of Sean was hanging on the wall.
"How vain," Tia remarked after glancing at it.
Su Lan had already locked onto her target and rushed towards the large bed, shouting as she ran:
"Tia, I packed up the ones for the bed. Go check if there are any new ones in the closet!"
Su Lan's nimble movements made her seem less like an aristocrat and more like a habitual offender.
Place the pillow in the middle, roll it up with the blanket, and twist the sheet into a rope; a huge package is now complete.
He slung her over his back and turned to look at Tia.
Tia also gained something, carrying a brand new set of bedding in her arms!
Su Lan gave a thumbs up and was about to say something when heavy footsteps suddenly came from outside the door.
Sean is back!
The main door is blocked, so we have to go through the window!
Fortunately, this was part of their plan. Tia reacted quickly, opened the window, and jumped out.
She adjusted her center of gravity, using the blankets as cushioning, without making a sound.
The footsteps grew closer, but Su Lan remained calm.
The moment Sean opened the door, his mental energy surged forth: "Block it!"
Golden ripples shot out, and Sean was locked in a hard state, his hand that was trying to open the door frozen in place.
Su Lan seized the opportunity and jumped down.
"Enemy attack! Alert!" Sensing the anomaly, the commander shielded Sean behind him, his face grave.
"It's a 'prohibition' decree from the court, Lord Sean. What do you think?"
"It's alright." Sean shook his groggy head, looking a little bewildered at his messy bed.
"Where's my blanket? Did the court infiltrate just to take my blanket?"
"My lord, you must not be careless!" the commander said sternly, his face ashen.
"The tribunal has a deeper meaning. This bedding, worn close to your body, is stained with your scent; they intend to use divine magic to track you!"
"That's a brand new one I bought, I've never used it even once!" Sean said, heartbroken.
