Chapter 719 Summoning Chapter
Chapter 719 Summoning Chapter
That makes sense, considering that dragon people have a lifespan of over a thousand years.
The Broadleaf Wizard reclaimed this plane only a few hundred years ago.
Most of the noble dragon people who once enjoyed privileges under the old system are still alive, and the high-ranking members of the resistance army are almost all remnants of these old nobles. To put it bluntly, the whole incident was just a way for them to use the name of resisting the wizards to conveniently eliminate those "inferior lizards" in their own tribe who they had disliked for hundreds of years.
Unfortunately, the ten elders' fear of death far exceeded their expectations.
The elders kept delaying the operation with various excuses, which eventually allowed the Broadleaf Wizard to complete all the preparations.
Thinking of this, Jemin paused slightly.
He looked up at the Broadleaf Wizard, and the data stream in the vertical eye between his brows quietly subsided.
The old wizard remained standing there, hands behind his back, his expression calm, as if what was happening beneath his feet was not a cleansing that could destroy an entire civilization, but merely a pre-arranged experiment.
Broadleaf Wizard seemed to notice his gaze, turned his head to look at him, and smiled faintly, yet meaningfully.
"Now you should understand."
Jemin handed the iron-gray dragonman, who was sealed tightly, to Broadleaf Wizard.
The Broadleaf Wizard reached out and took it, then gently gathered the heavy body inside his sleeve, the movement as casual as if he were putting away an inconspicuous piece of clothing.
"What is the final effect of this magic circle?" Jemin asked.
The Broadleaf Wizard did not answer immediately; he simply raised his hand and pointed to the sky above.
"Everyone, follow me up."
Upon hearing this, the dozen or so wizards did not hesitate at all, immediately activating their laws to solidify their domains or use flight spells, and soared into the sky along with Kuo Ye. Jemin's Void Steps were equally adept in the air, and he followed leisurely in the middle of the group.
The group passed through swirling clouds, traversed the ionosphere, and navigated through increasingly thin air molecules, finally stopping near the edge of the dimensional barrier. The air here was so thin it was almost a vacuum.
Above them was a semi-transparent barrier that covered the entire plane.
Pale golden light patterns flowed slowly across its surface, like a giant net enveloping the planet.
Jemin looked down.
At this altitude, mountains, rivers, plains, and oceans are no longer fragmented terrain, but are clearly pieced together into a complete picture. His three eyes paused slightly after clearly seeing the scene before him.
The entire landscape of this plane, viewed from the highest altitude, resembles a giant dragon with its body curled up.
The winding mountain ridge is the spine.
The forked mountain range is the dragon's wing.
The sunken basin is like a closed claw.
The northernmost plateau, shrouded in clouds and mist, is the profile of a dragon's head, with even the curve of its eye sockets clearly visible.
The dragon was curled up, its wings wrapping around its sides, like an embryo sleeping in its mother's womb.
Jemin took a breath of the almost non-existent thin air and slowly exhaled.
"The legend of the dragon people is true," he said. "All of their bloodlines come from a dragon."
"That's right."
The Broadleaf Wizard stood beside him, his voice carrying the surprise and delight of a scholar facing the unknown.
"However, this dragon has run into some trouble now. But it did create the ecosystem of the entire Dragonman plane. The dragon beasts you see in the Ironspine Mountains, the bloodline concentration in the dragon people, and even the so-called 'ancient memories' passed down from generation to generation by the Ten Elders all originated from it." He looked down at the plane that was trembling beneath his feet.
"It is not an ordinary dragon, but an ancient being that is at least at the peak of level eight, and may even have touched the threshold of level nine. And this red light array is the technology that forcibly 'brought it back'."
"Recall?"
Jemin keenly caught the word.
He was certain he hadn't misheard; the Broadleaf Wizard hadn't said "awaken," but rather "recall."
Awakening means that it is here, just sleeping.
To bring it back means that it wasn't here at all... or at least something more important wasn't in this body, and it had to be pulled back from somewhere else.
Combining the dimensional fluctuations in the reflection that he sensed when the old dragon sacrificed himself, the answer is almost obvious.
The Broadleaf Wizard turned around, and the amber-colored luster of the law flowed slowly from his cuffs.
He glanced at the dozen or so wizards present and said calmly, "Everyone here is skilled at resisting the power of the Reflection Dimension, so I need your help next."
His tone was calm, even gentle: "Rest assured, the skills you gain in battle will be your reward."
As soon as he finished speaking, several wizards who were clearly familiar with him immediately started cursing.
"I knew you were being so generous all of a sudden, not charging a single penny. Turns out you were just using us as free labor!"
"Bah! Broadleaf, you old codger, you've got a really big plan. I could hear you all over the Crimson Royal Court next door!"
"You call this asking for help? You're just trying to get something for nothing!"
Despite the insults, not a single person actually turned and left.
The technology related to the Reflection Dimension is already incredibly valuable, not to mention, judging from what Kuoye just said, this is a real-world battle involving the intersection of the ancient dragon race and the Reflection Dimension.
Even if it costs them money, plenty of wizards would still be willing to come.
Jieming stood in the crowd, not participating in the denunciation of Kuoye.
He was integrating all the information he had gathered during this period of time with all the information he had just collected.
Broadleaf doesn't need ordinary wizards, but wizards who can counter the power of the Reflection Dimension.
And combining this with what Broadleaf just mentioned about the word "recall"...
He had already vaguely pieced together a line in his mind.
The red light beneath our feet is continuing to spread.
From a great altitude, the entire Dragonman plane appears to be completely enveloped by a dark red film.
The crimson light flowed silently along the continent and the ocean without weakening in the slightest. Any dragon-blooded creature that came into contact with it was instantly disintegrated and dissolved, turning into wisps of dark red smoke that merged into the blood-red ocean.
The floating cities that had risen ahead of time now appeared as silver orbs of light suspended above the sea of red light.
They slowly rotated in the night, like a group of isolated islands temporarily salvaged.
At that very moment, a sudden change occurred.
The earth's crust in the Dragonman plane suddenly began to tremble violently.
This was an earthquake that affected almost the entire plane, but what was strange was that it seemed too rhythmic.
thump.
thump.
thump.
The rhythm spread upwards from the depths of the Earth's crust, through the mantle, through the magma layer, through the surface covered in red light, all the way to the edge of the dimensional barrier. Each beat caused the entire spatial structure of the plane to tremble slightly, like a giant heart buried deep within the world finally beginning to beat again in the red light.
