Chapter 739 Welcoming
Chapter 739 Welcoming
The light from the teleportation array slowly faded beneath their feet.
As the light faded, Jemin found himself standing in the center of a spacious teleportation plaza.
Above us was a clear blue sky, and beneath our feet lay smooth, polished white flagstones.
The stone slabs are inlaid with pale gold runes; the patterns are not complicated, but each stroke is carved with extreme precision.
Flags were erected high around the square, their fluttering gently in the breeze.
Each flag is embroidered with the coat of arms of the Colmar family, gleaming softly in the sunlight.
Jemin's senses slowly spread out, taking in the atmosphere of the entire square.
The elemental concentration here isn't particularly high, and I didn't sense any particularly powerful biological presence other than that of the wizard.
Because everyone living in this dimension is an ordinary person!
They were not servant races from other planes, but the most numerous mortal beings in the wizarding civilization, living at the base of the pyramids. Their aura was calm and peaceful, like a slowly flowing warm water in Jemin's perception.
If a family's core dimension houses mortals rather than combat units, then that dimension is most likely the family's true foundation. This indicates that this dimension was never intended as a resource dimension for making money, but rather as an ancestral land for settling mortal family members, nurturing the next generation, and continuing the family bloodline.
The fact that the Colmar family chose to hold the wedding here is itself a gesture.
The square was bustling with people as wedding guests emerged from different teleportation arrays.
Some wore the uniforms of the Star Ring Federation, the rank insignia on their shoulder straps reflecting a silvery sheen in the sunlight; others wore the standard robes of the various academies of the Norn Workshop, the patterns on their cuffs representing different academic factions; still others were members of other wizarding families, their family crests meticulously embroidered on their cloaks or collars, their distinguished origins immediately apparent.
The Colmar family arranged for special greeters on both sides of the square.
Each guest was swiftly guided to their designated spot as soon as they stepped out of the teleportation array; the process was smooth and efficient, clearly the result of countless rehearsals. Directly opposite the plaza, the current patriarch of the Colmar family stood at the head of the welcoming party.
He looked to be around forty years old, but physical age is of no value to wizards.
Moreover, the fine wrinkles he deliberately left at the corners of his eyes made him appear more composed and approachable.
Two level-six wizards stood on either side of him.
Including the patriarch himself, there were now three level-six wizards from the Colmar family greeting guests in the square.
According to the information Jemin had previously obtained, the entire Colmar family, including David, currently only has seven level six wizards.
By deploying nearly half of their top combat force in the square as a welcoming party, they have shown enough sincerity.
Chief Colmar had just finished a cheerful conversation with a level six wizard before him, who, accompanied by his entourage, was being led towards the banquet hall by the greeters. He was about to pull out his magic network terminal from his sleeve to check the guest list for the next group when the terminal on his wrist lit up first.
It was an encrypted message from the Colmar family's intelligence system; only information from the highest-ranking guests would trigger this priority push. The patriarch's gaze swept over the message content, his smile remaining, but the lines at the corners of his eyes tightened almost imperceptibly for a moment. The Colmar level six wizard standing to his left and behind him noticed this extremely subtle change.
He didn't make a sound, but simply used his mental power to gently touch the edge of the clan leader's consciousness.
Chief Colmar did not turn around, but instead used his mental power to transmit the message.
The sixth-level wizard's pupils contracted slightly after reading the message.
"A level five wizard, to have achieved such a feat?" His mental energy was filled with undisguised amazement.
"If you can defeat a level six titled wizard 'Illusion,' then that means..." Another level six wizard chimed in, leaving the rest of his sentence unfinished, but the meaning was clear.
A level six titled wizard is someone who can obtain an exclusive title at level six, something that ordinary level six wizards cannot compare to.
Being able to defeat such an opponent, regardless of the level of strength used, is enough to make any level six wizard re-evaluate their position in front of that person.
"That's right." A hint of emotion, barely perceptible, was hidden within the clan leader's spiritual power. "If we really have to count, we are the weaker ones in front of him." A gentle breeze blew across the square, causing the banners to flutter.
The two level-six wizards were silent for a moment, then almost simultaneously sensed something and looked up at the largest teleportation array in the center of the square, where a silvery-white teleportation light was shining.
The clan leader also sensed that aura at the same time.
It was a power fluctuation suppressed at a very deep level, like an undercurrent in the deep sea.
On the surface, everything is calm and peaceful, and it seems harmless.
This display, however, only made the wizards, whose senses were sharp enough, even more uneasy, as if they were staring at an endless abyss from the surface of the sea. "He's here. Compose your expression." The clan leader's spiritual power swept between the three of them.
The three of them simultaneously adjusted their facial muscles, completely concealing the shock and solemnity they had just felt.
When the light from the teleportation array faded, Jemin looked up and saw three Colmar Level 6 wizards walking towards him with warm smiles and powerful strides.
"Hahahaha... Wizard Jemin has come from afar, we are truly flattered!" The clan chief was the first to greet him, his voice loud yet gentle. The two level-six wizards behind him also had friendly smiles on their faces, one of them even extending his hand in a gesture of invitation, his posture so natural as if he had rehearsed it many times.
"Not at all," Jemin said with a polite smile, taking a few steps forward to firmly shake the chief's outstretched hand. "I've long admired the chief's wisdom and greatness, having heard so much from David. I've come specifically to pay my respects on the occasion of David's wedding and to share in the joy."
"Wizard Jemin, you're too kind!" The chieftain shook their clasped hands vigorously, his smile widening even further. "David often talks about you at home, saying that you were already a pillar of the elite combat unit when you were at level one. Meeting you today, I can see you truly live up to your reputation. Your demeanor alone is enough to impress anyone!"
"Patriarch, you flatter me. David's character and abilities are what I have always admired most. To be able to advance to level six at such a young age shows that the Colmar family has a worthy successor, which is truly enviable."
"Oh, not at all. His skills are far inferior to yours. I heard that a few years ago you fought under the command of Wizard Broadleaf, directly confronting the dimensional portal of the reflection. Even Wizard Broadleaf praised you highly. Such a feat is unheard of among fifth-level wizards in a thousand years!" "It was all thanks to the favor of Wizard Broadleaf and Dean Avery. I just happened to be there; I was lucky..."
The two sides exchanged compliments for quite a while in the teleportation plaza.
The patriarch's smile remained radiant, and Jemin's smile remained impeccable.
The two maintained a polite distance during their conversation, neither of them taking the initiative to test the other.
The two level-six wizards behind the chieftain occasionally chimed in with a word or two, adding or agreeing at just the right moment, creating a harmonious atmosphere for the conversation. Finally, the chieftain smiled and gestured for them to proceed.
"Refreshments have been prepared in the banquet hall. Wizard Jemin, you've come from afar, please come inside and rest for a while. Please!"
Jemin nodded to the clan chief and followed the shaman who was leading the way into the clan's interior.
Only after Jemin's figure disappeared behind the banquet hall's entrance did the patriarch's warm smile slowly fade, though his expression remained gentle. The other two level-six wizards also returned to the patriarch's side after seeing off the last few guests.
The three watched in silence as Jemin walked into the banquet hall.
"What do you think?" the clan chief asked using his mental power.
Upon hearing this, both wizards fell silent for a moment.
