Chapter 21 Mermaid Girl
Chapter 21 Mermaid Girl
Allen hesitated for a moment, then instead of waking the sleeping Solina and Viola, he quietly put on a waterproof, thick animal skin robe and left the stone castle.
Like him, Solina and Viola's strength lies in their control of fire elements, making them virtually powerless in this torrential rain.
But he wanted to take a look at that being from afar.
With the existence of the character panel, he can confirm its existence with just a glance.
If there is danger, he can directly use his mind to call out to Solina and Viola, so that they can escape or hide.
Taking them along only meant that instead of one person escaping for their lives, three people were escaping together.
Allen stepped into the downpour. Although the strong winds weren't enough to make him lose his footing, walking was still a bit difficult.
Even though he still has the physique of a teenager and possesses the temporary leader panel, his physical attributes after the activation of his dragon blood have far surpassed those of ordinary people.
In this kind of stormy weather by the sea, an ordinary person would have been blown over and away long ago.
Allen looked at the map as he made his way through the rain in the night.
"What kind of being could it be?"
Allen kept recalling his memories of the game from his past life, hoping to find the answer within them.
Unfortunately, this situation did not occur in my previous life's memories of playing the game.
In theory, for individuals, apart from the lord and followers, the territory map should not be displayed separately; only macroscopic changes should be shown.
For example, if enemy troops invade, a general "enemy-occupied area" will be determined for the territory occupied by the enemy troops after the invasion.
If this does not occur, then there will be no notification whether an individual or a wild beast or monster enters or leaves the territory.
But today, the map has marked a "non-friendly unit" for the first time ever.
This left Allen unsure whether to feel happy or worried.
However, his mind is not on the changes in the map right now.
Whether it's a friend or foe, or simply passing by, being able to see and obtain information about the other party is the basis for making a judgment.
Allen moved slowly through the storm, and it took him a long time just to get down the mountain.
Fortunately, the distance that the marker moved on the map did not change much.
Based on the movement speed of the marker, Allen judged that this being was either doing it intentionally or had limited abilities, and its movement speed was only slightly faster than his.
Its speed is roughly equivalent to the normal speed of an ordinary person walking in a downpour.
And it seems to be circling aimlessly, or perhaps... exploring?
In short, Allen gradually closed the distance between himself and his opponent.
With a mix of trepidation and excitement, Allen walked down to the bottom of the cliff.
The original beach has been completely submerged due to rising coastline, and even the entrance to the kobold tribe's cave has been flooded.
However, they have already excavated part of it according to Allen's architectural drawings these days. The outermost part of the cave has a waterproof structure, so the inside will not be flooded.
Allen left the cliff area and continued towards the marker of existence.
Soon, he saw on the map that his marker was very close to that entity.
Allen crouched low, crouching as low as possible as he could, carefully using the trees to conceal his figure.
After walking a few dozen more steps, Allen's gaze pierced through the darkness, illuminating a peculiar figure.
A girl who is almost half-naked.
Allen didn't have time to examine the girl's appearance closely before immediately opening the character panel.

There are three question marks in each of the levels and statuses!
This is the first time Allen has encountered a situation where the target level cannot be seen from the character template!
Is the target's level too high?
Allen felt a little flustered, but he quickly calmed down.
Because he could see what the girl was doing, what she was looking for, what she was exploring...
Her movements weren't much smoother than Allen's.
Although the waves seemed to be lifting her up, she was still being battered by the wind and rain.
Her search was clumsy and inefficient; she couldn't even see through the rocks on the beach and had to walk around them, carefully searching for something.
Allen mustered his courage and followed the girl's steps.
Because of the existence of the [Lord] map, Allen didn't have to worry about losing the girl, so he didn't get close, but followed her from a great distance.
After following her for a while, Allen finally confirmed that the girl's strength was probably not very high, at least not much stronger than Allen's.
She couldn't see Allen following behind her, nor did she have a more efficient way to move forward.
Every so often she would stop and kneel on the ground, chanting something in a peculiar gesture.
Are you praying?
Allen followed behind the girl, lost in thought.
Allen couldn't understand those syllables; they seemed to be in another language.
The character panel shows that the girl's race is mermaid. Could it be that she speaks the language of mermaids?
The name "mermaid" should immediately suggest that they possess fish-like characteristics.
The girl showed no abnormalities whatsoever; she looked just like a normal human girl.
Allen then looked at the girl's other information.
The hero template indicates that the girl has great potential and greater room for growth.
Her profession is a sea god priestess, which fits her mermaid race. Could it be that she really came from the sea and used some kind of magic to turn into human form?
Allen continued reading and found that the Lawful Good faction aligned with the half-elf twins.
Trials of Divine Favor...
Judging from the name alone, it seems to be related to the gods.
This was the first time Allen had come into contact with anything related to gods since he came to this world.
Although Solina and Viola had told him that there were many gods in this world who were worshipped by mortals.
Even Flintclaw had said that the kobolds all had their own gods, but Allen had forgotten the name of that god.
Even dragons have dragon gods.
But Allen, who came from Earth, instinctively categorized words related to faith and religion as vague and abstract without giving them much thought.
Now I have actually seen a girl who is related to the sea god, and she seems to be participating in the "Trial of Divine Favor".
Allen then realized that the gods of this world seemed to be able to interfere in the mortal realm.
Perhaps beyond the wilderness, the power of the gods is omnipresent, profoundly and subtly influencing the workings of this world.
Sooner or later, he might also come into contact with the power of the gods...
As Allen was lost in thought, he didn't notice that he had followed the girl into an area submerged by seawater, his ankles already underwater.
He was startled when he suddenly noticed an undercurrent in the seawater that seemed to be sucking his feet in, preventing him from taking another step forward. He quickly looked up to see what was happening.
In the distance, the figure of the girl he had been chasing suddenly vanished like a bubble.
It's an illusion!
A hostile voice came from behind, speaking in Common.
"Who... are you?"
