Chapter 26 Visitors from the Sea
Chapter 26 Visitors from the Sea
Another two weeks later, the rainy season in the wilderness came to an end, which also meant that the season of abundant food would soon be over.
"The main structure of the 'Kobold's Nest' is basically complete, and it's time to put the 'Hunting Grounds' and 'Fishing and Hunting Hut' on the agenda..."
Allen pondered the progress of the territory's development and couldn't help but feel a little anxious.
If food cannot be stored as much as possible before winter arrives, then even if new people are recruited, expansion will not be possible, and problems will arise due to food shortages.
Allen opened the [Territory] map, and saw that a large area of the map that was originally covered by fog had been illuminated.
This is the result of the explorations he, Solina, Viola, and Flintclaw led over the past two weeks.
Basically, he had explored most of the northern half of Sapphire Bay.
Heading south along the coastline, there is a large flat area where the remains of several ancient buildings can be vaguely seen, likely remnants of the Kingdom of Ono.
This indicates that this terrain was originally the main body of a port city, making it very suitable for large-scale construction, which is what Allen thought as well.
East of the beach, near the mountains on the eastern side of Sapphire Bay, Allen sensed a rather dangerous atmosphere.
I scouted around using the character panel a few times and spotted several ferocious monsters of different races, ranging in level from 10 to 20.
The eastern mountain range is the most extensive. As it is the innermost mountain range of Sapphire Bay, it is least affected by the marine climate. The continuous forests seem to stretch endlessly, and countless ferocious magical beasts inhabit them.
These monsters will likely become an obstacle when the old harbor site is rebuilt in the future.
Of course, with such abundant magical resources, once the harbor is successfully built and connected to the outside world, it can simply be left to the adventurers to manage.
This could actually become an income source for Sapphire Bay.
In addition to these two major areas, there are some special locations that are marked separately on the map.
In the northeast corner of Sapphire Bay, there is an exceptionally high mountain.
Allen found several huge feathers at the foot of the mountain, so he waited for a while and then saw a huge object flying over the top of the mountain.
The character panel reveals the names of those creatures—Silverfeathered Griffins.
This is a magical beast with the head of a harpy and the body of a lion. Although its average level is only 5 to 10, every griffin Allen has ever seen is an elite template.
This demonstrates that this population has extremely high potential.
Moreover, even if their level is not high, their terrifying aerial mobility and ability to fight in groups mean that they have no natural enemies in this territory.
Allen considered it his ideal "Air Force" choice for the future.
That peak was also marked on the map with the same phantom icon as the kobold's lair, indicating that the lair of these monsters could be directly upgraded to a territory building.
Allen temporarily refers to it as Silver Feather Peak.
Then, in the northern mountains, within Allen's original designated "Hunting Grounds" area, the kobolds were attacked by monsters while surrounding the hunting grounds.
It turns out that a small group of tree people lived in that forest. They were usually as still as giant trees, but they instinctively fought back when the kobolds, creatures of the evil faction, entered the forest.
When Allen went to investigate, he was almost surrounded and attacked by the tree-men.
Fortunately, treants are naturally vulnerable to fire, and they move slowly and don't like to stray too far from their habitat, so Allen wasn't in too much trouble.
After observation, Allen discovered that the level of this group of tree people varied greatly, ranging from level 1 saplings to mature tree people around level 10.
Moreover, in the center of that group of tree people, there was a towering tree, whose crown could be seen from a great distance.
Unfortunately, due to the great distance, Allen was unable to check the level of the giant tree, but he guessed it was at least level 20.
He thought it was another problem that needed to be solved, but to his surprise, Viola was able to get along well with the group of tree people.
Solina, perhaps because of the [Red Dragon Blood Guard], is attacked just like Allen whenever she gets close to the treant.
However, Viola's bloodline is still pure. Elves and tree people are natural allies. With Viola as an intermediary, it seems that the tree people might join Allen's side.
Therefore, Viola has been staying in the Treant Forest recently, seemingly undergoing some kind of trial.
Allen is looking forward to her good news.
Although the Treants cannot participate in the work of the [Fishing and Hunting Hut] and [Wild Hunting Grounds], they are natural guardians.
With the addition of this new force, Allen's territory finally gained some defensive and combat capabilities.
Finally, there was the pure monster lair that Flintclaw discovered.
A forest teeming with spiders, where enormous swarms of spiders weave webs that ensure no creature ventures out unscathed.
To be honest, this is the easiest to solve.
Whether it's the spider, the spider web, or the woodland where they live,
All of these can be solved with a single fire.
The reason Allen didn't do it immediately was that the location of the group of spiders did not conflict with the two buildings Allen had planned.
Secondly, the Spider's Nest is also marked on the map as an upgradable territory building.
Allen quickly realized the purpose of the spider—its silk.
Allen's hometown, China on Earth, was once world-famous for its silk weaving. He had also heard that special spider silk could also be used for weaving.
Not to mention the even tougher spider silk of the demon spider.
If spider silk can be produced stably, it may become a rare commodity in Sapphire Bay in the future.
Allen was troubled by how to subdue the group of spider demons.
They are of low rank and have almost no intelligence; they only possess the instincts of wild beasts and will attack any creature that intrudes into their territory.
So Allen put it aside for the time being, and will deal with it when a solution comes up later.
At present, Allen is still most looking forward to good news from Viola.
only……
Allen still hasn't found a good solution for the most important functions of the [Hunting Grounds] and [Fishing and Hunting Lodge].
"If all else fails, Solina and I will have to take the extra step and lead the hunt ourselves..."
"But the fatigue is secondary; the real problem is that neither of us will have time to train and improve, which is detrimental to the overall development of the territory..."
Allen knew that while building up the territory was important, the strength of the lord and his followers was paramount in order to protect it.
Otherwise, they will eventually become easy prey for others.
As Allen was pondering this, the mental call of Flint Claw interrupted him.
Allen thought about it and realized that Flintclaw had been behaving much better lately and wouldn't bother him with telepathic communication under the guise of an emergency anymore, so he connected with his mind.
"Dragon Lord, there's a group of...crab people on the sea. They're huddled below the cliff, but they haven't attacked!"
"Crab Man?"
Many guesses flashed through Allen's mind. Could it be an aquatic monster that originally lived in Sapphire Bay?
Or is it because they migrate back during the season?
Regardless, since the other side did not attack immediately, Allen ordered Flint Claw to remain still for the time being, and then set off to investigate the area below the cliff.
