Chapter 318 Deciphering the "Secret Guest"
"Mystery" Iliana has always been unruly, crossing her legs during meetings, chewing gum all the time, and always charging to the front in battle.
But when she witnessed how Connors had transformed her into someone with almost godlike power with just a few gestures, she was overwhelmed with shock and could only kneel on the ground, bowing her head in reverence.
"No wonder he uses 'locksmith' as his title; he can even unlock the limits of my abilities, infinitely raising my strength."
"The Secret Guest" Iliana lay prostrate on the ground, completely devoid of any will to resist.
"If someone can infinitely elevate another person's strength, it can only mean that they themselves are incredibly powerful, far beyond my imagination—if I had to describe them in one word, it would be 'God.'"
In the minds of "Mickeys," Connors is almost equivalent to the legendary "God," or even more so.
"Why don't you try cutting me? Goodness, you've raised your strength to such a high level." Connors said, looking at the devoutly kneeling "Miracle" with a puzzled expression, and reached out to help him up.
"Magician" initially wanted to remain kneeling, but even though her strength had reached a level she dared not imagine, she was utterly powerless to resist Connors's act of helping her up. At this point, even the last shred of hope in her heart vanished.
"No, there's no need for me to resist anymore. With your strength, even if all the mutants on the entire island of Krakoa united, they probably couldn't defeat you."
"If you, with your power, harbor any designs on 'Phoenix,' everything we do will be in vain."
How come "Magic" has become like a believer? — Connors sighed.
"Keep this a secret. Also, I'm really not interested in 'Phoenix'—but I'm quite interested in 'Phoenix Girl'."
The "Secret Guest" stood obediently rooted to the spot, not daring to move, which made Connors feel awkward.
"If you keep doing this, I'll erase your memories."
These words startled the "Secret Guest," who shuddered involuntarily. She quickly asked:
"Then how do you want me to treat you, Kang—Master?"
"I still prefer your previous rebellious self," Connors said. "When you get back to reality, don't reveal my true strength."
"Mystery" Iliana didn't even ask "why," and simply nodded obediently.
Seeing the "Gryphon" who was once so arrogant and dared to cut him with a greatsword now in this state, Connors instinctively wanted to use the "Dream Relic" to erase his memories of himself.
Otherwise, the contrast between "Magical" Iliana's past and present behavior would be too great, and if other mutants discovered her, there would be endless speculation about her.
Connors didn't like this, so he decisively reached out and pressed his hand on "Mickey's" forehead to erase his memory.
But seeing the "Ghost" with her little face upturned, looking completely at him, a thought struck him. He decided to try a different approach that would allow the "Ghost," Iliana, to regain her personality and stop being afraid of him.
So the hand placed on "Mike's" forehead did not use its power, but instead gently rubbed the other person's head.
Just as "Megami" Iliana was wondering what was going on, Connors had already placed his hand on the back of her head and pressed on it, slowly closing the distance between the two of them.
"!"
"Mystery" Iliana's eyes widened, her whole body tensed, and all the blood in her body seemed to rush to her brain at this moment, making her mind go blank.
But she quickly realized what was happening, her face flushed, but her body slowly relaxed.
It was at this moment that "Magical" discovered that although the thorns covering her white armor were clearly stuck in Connors' body, strangely, Connors was neither injured nor did the thorns break.
It was as if, upon contact with Connors, the spikes on the armor had become phantoms.
This discovery added another layer of mystery to Connors's image in the eyes of "Mystery Maker" Iliana, and she became more and more engrossed and relaxed in her actions.
On the clock tower of Krakoa, a blue-purple crack slowly appeared in the air, and then two people, one tall and one short, emerged from the crack. They were Connors and "Magical" Iliana, who had been busy at the border of hell for half a day.
"From now on, remember to relax and don't think of me as too scary—" Connors quickly reminded him, seeing that "Magical" seemed to still be savoring the results of the battle.
"The Secret Guest" came to his senses, licked his lips with an "I understand" expression, and then took out a piece of chewing gum from his pocket and put it in his mouth.
As the sweetness of the chewing gum slowly dissipated the savory taste in her mouth, "Megher" Iliana struggled to control her emotions, finally transforming from her submissive demeanor towards Connors back into her defiant and unruly self.
This contrast between her arrogant, timid demeanor in public and her docile, kitten-like nature in private almost gave Connors the urge to take her back to the Mysterious House for another battle.
But he couldn't do that, because at that moment, not only were he and "Ghost" Iliana on the top of the clock tower, but also "Storm" floating in the sky not far away.
Upon noticing Connors's arrival, Storm hurriedly flew over:
Where did you two go just now?
"I went to the frontier of hell," Connors said truthfully.
Storm patted her chest and breathed a sigh of relief:
"You scared me! Was I watching TV wrong just now?"
Storm Girl Ouroro's breath hitched again:
"You were just with 'Magical' on the verge of hell, so who was that person who appeared in New York this morning?"
"Magical" looked bewildered. She had chatted with "Kusama-jin" all morning, and then entered Hell's Frontier with Connors, without ever seeing Connors leave.
"New York? Orolo, be clear."
Emma, the "White Queen," climbed the stairs step by step to the top of the clock tower, looked at Connors, and said:
"This morning, New York City television news reported that a mysterious figure suddenly appeared above Avengers Tower and prevented a plane crash, then returned to Avengers Tower with the Avengers."
Storm Ororo continued:
"And that mysterious man, we can see clearly, is 'The Locksmith' Connors."
Iliana, who had initially dismissed Connors's suspicions about Hope, the "Omega-level" mutant, after learning just how powerful Connors truly was, was now bewildered. She turned to look at Connors, hoping for an answer.
"Which unlucky reporter took a picture of me?" Connors thought to himself, a headache forming in his mind. But little did he know that "Storm" seemed to have already come up with a reason for him:
"Is flying and knowing where disasters are about to occur also among the abilities of a 'locksmith'?"
The White Queen also asked curiously:
"I can understand flight; you've 'locked' yourself in the influence of gravity—but how do you achieve this kind of precognitive ability?"
Connors chuckled and started making up stories based on their words:
"The human body is like a 'lock,' and I sensed that over three hundred 'locks' were about to open—that is, shatter—so I went to prevent the disaster from happening."
This reason seemed plausible, but suddenly all four people present looked up at the sky at the same time.
The sky was cloudless, but all four of them sensed the approach of a colossal creature.
