Chapter 446 Capture Alive
Chapter 446 Capture Alive
Chapter 446 Capture Alive
Under the cover of night, the shimmering lights, like those from a nightclub, successfully caught Connors' attention, and driven by curiosity, he easily found the person he was looking for:
Polaris Lorna.
The abilities that would have enabled Connors to traverse the multiverse, such as teleportation and the Omega effect, have inexplicably failed. With the Mother Box not on his person, Connors is unable to return to the multiverse for the time being.
Therefore, even though he has successfully found Polaris Lorna, he is not in a hurry to go back. Instead, he plans to continue to watch the show and see what kind of relationship exists between mutants, humans, and Inhumans.
As the convoy carrying Polaris Lorna headed toward Garland Prison, Reed Strucker felt that happiness had come too suddenly, leaving him with a dreamlike, unreal feeling.
"A descendant of the mutant Magneto, he is an absolute powerhouse who has inherited the ability to control magnetic fields."
"The leader who led the mutants and Earth's military to drive the Inhumans out of the solar system."
The Sentinels' number one wanted target, an underground organization that has repeatedly evaded capture by a massive manhunt.
Reed Strucker clenched his fist, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
Lorna Dane, the Polaris with so many identities, was now handcuffed with special handcuffs. Low-voltage electric currents, not fatal but enough to render mutants incapable of resistance, coursed through her body every few minutes. She was obediently locked in a transport vehicle behind her by eight Sentinel SWAT officers.
He had already begun to imagine his superiors keeping their promise and promoting him to a higher position, so that he would no longer be a lowly officer running around leading a group of soldiers to fight mutants with all sorts of incredible abilities.
He then switched communications, from Sentinel Team 049 to a high-ranking member of the Sentinel organization: "Sir, Sentinel Team 049 has successfully arrested Lorna Dane, the mutant codenamed Polaris, and is heading at full speed towards Garland Prison. We request helicopter assistance for her escort."
On the other end of the communication system, the usually cold and aloof superior was uncharacteristically stunned for a moment, then overjoyed: "Soldier, you have to take responsibility for what you said! Are you sure you successfully captured Polaris?"
Reed Strucker nodded vigorously: "Yes, sir."
"Good! I will immediately dispatch ten armed helicopters to provide support. Order your soldiers to load their weapons and shoot down anyone who tries to seize Polaris on the spot!" The superior's voice turned into one of ecstatic joy.
"Understood, sir!"
Reed Strucker responded loudly.
"Also, rest assured about my promise to promote you. I, Darkholm, will never go back on my word," his superior, a man named Darkholm, changed the subject and said what Strac was most looking forward to, "The day you successfully escort Polaris to Garland Prison will also be the day you are awarded your rank."
Reed Strucker's heart raced; he had been waiting for those words.
"Also—if Polaris's condition becomes abnormal, remember to give her a sedative and painkiller."
Just as the two were about to end their communication, their superior, Darkholm, suddenly brought it up again.
Strucker was puzzled, but he agreed nonetheless.
"Sir, the vital signs of Polaris are gradually disappearing!"
Just then, a report came through Strucker's earpiece from a soldier who was in the same carriage as Polaris Lorna.
Inside the carriage, Polaris Lorna, who had been clutching her head and groaning in pain, and was powerless to resist the arrest by the "Sentinel" special police, was now in even worse shape. Her pupils were dilated, her breathing was weak, and she was at risk of dying at any moment.
"What?!"
Strucker was startled.
After successfully capturing mutants, the Sentinels rarely choose to kill them on the spot. Most of the time, they choose to send them to Garland Prison, where the Sentinels' scientific advisors will draw blood and conduct experiments, and psychological experts will interrogate them to break down their psychological defenses and obtain more useful intelligence.
Dead mutants are not as valuable as living mutants, let alone the mutant leader, Polaris Lorna.
She was the person her superior, Darkholm, specifically ordered to be brought alive to Garland Prison.
Without further thought, Reed Strucker quickly pressed his earpiece and gave the order: "Inject her with a sedative and painkiller immediately!"
On the other end of the earpiece, the soldier immediately agreed, but then hesitated and continued, "Sir, we don't have any painkillers on hand—would an anesthetic work?"
"Whatever this stuff is, inject it hard!!" Strucker yelled, sticking his head out of the window and shouting at the transport truck behind them.
The sound didn't even need to go through the headset; it was transmitted directly to the carriage behind.
Soon, a series of medications were injected into Polaris Lorna's body, her eyes slowly closed, and her breathing gradually calmed down.
"call----"
The special police officers inside the carriage breathed a sigh of relief, but still aimed their loaded guns at Polaris Lorna.
There were not many unexpected incidents along the way, and the ten armed helicopters sent by the "Sentinel" organization arrived as scheduled to pick them up and escort them.
Five hours later, the 049 "Sentinel" SWAT team successfully arrived at Garan Prison, and the prison guards then took action to detain Polaris in a specially made cell.
Three more hours passed, and Polaris Lorna woke up in a fully transparent special glass cell, wearing an orange prison uniform and high-strength plastic handcuffs.
Shortly after she woke up, Reed Strucker had changed into a new uniform, transforming from the 049th "Sentinel" SWAT team leader into a high-ranking official in Garland Prison.
Since he successfully arrested Polaris Lorna, his superior, Darkholm, decided to let Reed Strucker continue to be in charge of the current prisoner, Polaris Lorna.
"Miss Dane."
Reed pierced through layers of security and arrived outside the cell where Polaris Lorna was imprisoned. Looking through the transparent glass at Polaris, who had regained her spirits and was standing idly in the cell, he said, "I am Reed Strucker."
He introduced himself, and Polaris Lorna, her handcuffed hands slightly raised in greeting. Her short, slightly disheveled turquoise hair fell across her forehead, and her usually aggressive face now appeared nonchalant: "Strucker? Welcome. I'd love to invite you to sit down, but—"
Polaris Lorna looked around. The transparent cell was devoid of any necessary equipment, including seats. "But you see," she said, "there's nothing I can do about it."
Reed Strucker smiled slightly, full of enthusiasm since his recent promotion. Standing there, he addressed Polaris: "You are accused of attempting to destroy the Earth using the Earth-Moon tidal forces—"
Polaris Lorna smiled and interrupted him: "I'm doomed, I know that."
At this moment, she was no longer aggressive, but looked like a slightly naughty little girl from next door.
