Chapter 3 Chat Incident
Chapter 3 Chat Incident
In the end, he didn't call for help; Li Wei couldn't bear the embarrassment.
Thinking he'd only get a few hits at most, Li Wei locked the door with a tragic expression and went out.
Once outside, Lu Feng's face was grim, and he punched Li Wei hard in the stomach.
He released his grip, lit a cigarette, and stared coldly at Li Wei.
Li Wei rubbed his stomach, took out a cigarette, lit it, and said through the pain, "Don't glare at me with those dead fish eyes of yours. I'm not a criminal."
After finishing his cigarette, Lu Feng threw away the butt and asked, "Let me reason with you. Why did you hit someone? What did my sister do wrong?"
Li Wei shook his head: "It's not bad, it's my fault."
"If I punch you, will you submit?"
"What can you do if you're not convinced? You can't beat me anyway."
Lu Feng clenched his fist, his knuckles cracking, and said with a cold laugh, "What? You want to try beating me if you think you can?"
Li Wei threw the cigarette butt far away, shook his head, and said, "Fine, it's not what you said, but I'll accept it. Otherwise, do you think I wouldn't have fought back?"
Lu Feng glanced sideways: "Even if you fight back, you can't beat me."
"Alright, so what if you were a special forces soldier for a few years? You're a SWAT officer now, your job is to catch bad guys. What kind of skill is it to bully your own brother-in-law, an ordinary citizen? Believe me or not, I'll report you to your superiors!"
"You still know he's my brother-in-law? What's wrong with me, as his younger brother, standing up for my older sister?"
Li Wei unceremoniously pulled out a good cigarette from Lu Feng, lit it, and casually put the rest in his pocket, slowly exhaling a puff of smoke: "Are you at work or off work now?"
Lu Feng blinked, confused: "What do you mean by 'going to work and leaving get off work'? We don't have a fixed time. Hey? Give me back my cigarette."
Li Wei pulled out his cheap cigarettes and threw them at him: "Take it or leave it. If you're at work, hitting me is a big deal. After get off work, forget I said anything."
Lu Feng took the cigarette blankly and scratched his head: "Then I'm off work."
Li Wei grinned mischievously and gestured with his lip: "Off work? See that bread truck without license plates? The people inside are waiting for us to chat. Go back and tell your sister to come back quickly, we don't want to delay their business."
Lu Feng exclaimed, all his fatigue vanishing. His eyes widened, and he pulled Li Wei up, whispering, "Let's go find a place to hide."
Li Wei tried to shake off the hand, but couldn't: "Didn't you say you were off work? Let go of me. I'm just an ordinary person, I don't want to get involved with you. This job is neither profitable nor safe."
As Lu Feng walked, his deep, hoarse voice rang in Li Wei's ear: "Stop talking nonsense. You've done too many things that don't make money. This is about doing a good deed, don't you understand? You've trained before, taking down a few ordinary people is child's play for you, isn't it?"
Li Wei followed, saying impatiently, "My skills are just rudimentary; I can't even beat someone like you. What kind of heroic act is this? I didn't see anything. You should call for backup."
"Stop talking nonsense, are you in or not? I'll help you convince my sister when we get home."
Li Wei grabbed Lu Feng and stared at his square face, asking, "You're not lying to me?"
Lu Feng, with a serious expression, looked at his brother-in-law's square face, which was slightly fuller due to weight gain, and ignored his brother-in-law's smug look: "Brother-in-law, have you forgotten that after you and my sister got married, I have always been your follower and I admire you very much."
Li Wei sighed: "You changed your mind after you joined the army. When you came back to visit your family, you started sparring with me. If it weren't for your sister's sake, I would have crippled you long ago."
Lu Feng's face was full of smug smiles: "Thank you for showing mercy, brother-in-law. Actually, even if you really went all out, I couldn't beat you. Let's hide quickly. There are so many people in their car. We can't let any of them get away."
"I'm too old, I can't keep up anymore, I'm not as good as you young people."
Lu Feng found a shady spot, pulled Li Wei to hide, took out his phone, and quietly explained the situation to the team. Then, looking outside, he said kindly, "Brother-in-law is only in his thirties, in the prime of his life. How could he be old? Jingjing said just a few days ago that if it weren't for his lack of education, she would have dated someone like you."
"Oh! Jingjing? How's her work going?"
Lu Feng glanced back at Li Wei warily: "Don't pry into your sister-in-law's affairs. That girl is too proud of herself."
Li Wei laughed angrily: "What kind of pathetic cop are you? Your head is full of filthy thoughts."
Lu Feng stared outside: "Stop with that nonsense. That brat used to idolize you to death, saying things like this is what a real man is."
"Nonsense, how old was she back then? Now that she has experience and education, can she still be the same as before? Are you out of your mind?"
"That's right! You're nothing but a lousy look, and you only earn that little money a month. I think Jingjing definitely wouldn't even look at you now."
Li Wei slapped Lu Feng on the head: "As if you have a high salary, you still get scolded by your wife, don't you?"
Lu Feng scratched his head, focused on the situation outside, and said smugly, "I'm getting a raise next month. I solved a big case last time and got praised by the boss. I got promoted and a raise. Aren't you envious?"
"What cases do you solve in the SWAT team? Aren't you guys responsible for fighting?"
"Sigh! Brother-in-law, you're so out of touch. I was transferred to the criminal investigation team a long time ago."
Li Wei was furious: "You're a criminal investigator, why are you meddling in this trivial matter? Catching thieves is the job of the police station, you're robbing them of their business."
"Keep your voice down, this is called killing two birds with one stone, just doing it on the side. Wait, something's not right, they got off the bus, there are seven of them, carrying machetes and clubs, looks like they're going to that shop across the street."
Li Wei glanced at the distance and calmly said, "That shop is inhabited by a couple, they're incredibly stingy. They don't trust banks, they keep all their money at home. Their wealth has attracted bad guys. Did you bring a gun?"
"Bring my ass! Why would I come to you asking you to bring a gun?"
Li Wei pulled out his brass belt, pulled a stick out of the shadows, and handed it to Lu Feng: "Don't come looking for me again, or I'll be asleep by now. You jinx."
Lu Feng took the stick, glanced at his brother-in-law who was neatly dressed, and belatedly said, "You're so well-prepared? You're actually planning to fight back tonight?"
"Nonsense, I only let you hit me a few times to vent your anger. If you dare to play really hard, you won't even let me fight back?"
Lu Feng curled his lips, lifted his leg and strode out, muttering to himself, "People often say, 'Practice makes perfect,' but you haven't practiced kung fu for years, you've lost all your strength and are just a bunch of fat, and you still want to fight me."
Li Wei quickly added, "Practicing kung fu is useless now. We just want to improve our health; we don't rely on it for a living."
The two took a few quick steps, and Lu Feng shouted in a loud voice, "Don't move, police!"
Li Wei covered his face, thinking, "This is so damn cringey! I never thought people would still be shouting like this in the 21st century."
As the group dispersed and headed toward the general store, a sudden sound from behind startled them.
He hurriedly turned around and saw only two men in plainclothes walking out of the residential area. He was furious and one of the men shouted, "Mind your own business! Kill them both!"
