Chapter 223 The Appearance of Alastor Moody
Chapter 223 The Appearance of Alastor Moody
Lured by the Goblet of Fire, the students displayed great enthusiasm.
A week has passed, and students are casting their ballots with their names on them into the Cup of Fire, hoping to earn a chance to participate in the Triwizard Tournament.
However, not all students meet the age requirements for participating.
Fred and George, twin brothers, are just a few months shy of turning 17, but they yearn for the Triwizard Tournament. Unwilling to be limited by their age, they begin to devise ways to participate.
Fred and George, with their usual wit and creativity, began to devise a series of plans.
They studied the rules and requirements of the competition, trying to find loopholes or workarounds.
They also inquired around, seeking possible help and support.
"So what did you two bring me here for?" I'm actually old enough, but I'm not really interested in this three-way competition.
“I saw Cedric signed up yesterday, and we want to join too~ Ayers, do you have any good ideas to sign us both up?” Fred thought I must have some good ideas to get past the age limit.
"I want to participate too, Ayers, please help me~" George even started to whine.
Oh my god, this is a double whammy! I really can't handle these twins' adorable behavior.
"Give me your registration forms, and I'll register you. But let me make this clear beforehand: I can't guarantee you'll be selected for the Triwizard Tournament." Speechless, Dumbledore only mentioned an age limit, not that he couldn't help with registration.
“Sure, no problem, as long as I can sign up.” Fred happily handed me the slip of paper with his name on it.
“Me too, me too.” George wasn’t going to miss this opportunity to sign up, and he handed me his name tag as well.
There's nothing I can do; these two are my lovers, and if they want to cause trouble, I can only indulge them.
Holding the slips of paper with their names on them, I easily crossed the time limit set by Headmaster Dumbledore.
They threw the notes directly into the flaming goblet, watching the flames burn both notes, and then the twins outside high-fived each other.
I slowly retreated back to their side.
“Great, Ayers, we’ll wait for news.” Fred started clinging to me again.
“Come on, let’s go to the hall for dinner.” George also joined the line of people hanging on me.
"Come on, you two should eat your fill and get a little fatter so you can properly participate in the Three Kingdoms Championship." I was used to their weight, so I left with them hanging on either side of me.
The young wizards were used to seeing the three of us in the hallway; we were always the same way, appearing in every corner. They'd seen us like that for years.
Actually, besides me registering the twins, there were quite a few other young wizards who couldn't register watching, including Draco and Harry's little group, but we didn't say hello to them.
When the three of us arrived at the hall, the people we usually ate with were already there waiting.
Upon seeing us, Cedric smiled and looked at us. We had arranged to have dinner at the Hufflepuff long table today.
"So, did Ayers sign you up?" Cedric knew the twins would definitely ask me for help.
Seeing the three of us appear together, he knew I must have already registered the Geminis.
"Got it, turns out Ayers is old enough." Fred plopped down and picked up a glass of pumpkin juice to drink.
“Wait, if Ayers is old enough, how come he’s in the same year as us?” George realized that my enrollment date didn’t match up; I should be a year ahead of Cedric.
"Now that I've studied for so many years, I realize what's the point of this question. I'll just leave it to fate. Maybe I'm more destined to be in the same class as you two." Actually, I know why. It's all thanks to my older brother. If we're really counting by time, I'm probably only a few years ahead of Headmaster Dumbledore.
To cover it up, he picked up the pumpkin juice Fred had drunk from and drank it. They had already kissed, so why would he mind an indirect kiss?
We all thought it didn't matter. While we were having dinner, the doors to the hall suddenly opened and someone walked in.
The man who arrived was Alastor Moody, who had a moving, magical eye that could see through things. It was this unsettling appearance that gave him the nickname "Mad-Eye."
One of his eyes was small, black, like a bead, which was normal.
The other one is large and round, with a bright blue color, and can pass through walls, clothes, the back of its own head, and even invisibility cloaks.
His true eye moved freely, while his demonic eye moved incessantly, seeing through everything around him.
Moody lost a leg, which was replaced with a wooden prosthetic leg.
Beneath his thick, dark gray hair, his face appeared scarred and weathered, like a piece of old, decaying wood.
A large chunk of flesh from his nose was gone.
These are all marks of his countless battles against dark magic as an Auror.
The people walking behind me gave me a strange feeling.
I looked curiously at Alastor Moody who was walking by, and he happened to be looking around as well, and our eyes met.
I could see a surge of joyful magic beneath his serious expression.
Ha~ This person actually emitted a magical surge of excitement when they saw me, this is getting interesting.
It seems the default settings from the previous life haven't changed; this person isn't the real Alastor Moody.
It seems someone has caught them imitating using compound drugs. This is going to be interesting; it looks like this three-way battle is getting more and more interesting.
Alastor Moody limped to Headmaster Dumbledore, his magical eye darting around, scanning everything in its path.
Principal Dumbledore was having his meal when he saw Alastor Moody walk in. He stood up with a smile and looked at Moody.
“Professor Moody, welcome back,” Dumbledore said.
Moody snorted. "Thanks, Headmaster. But I'm not exactly happy about it."
"Oh, what's wrong?" Dumbledore asked. "Is there some trouble?"
Moody frowned. "Yes, Principal. I just received word that there seems to be some trouble going on in this Triwizard Tournament."
Dumbledore's expression turned serious. "Are you sure?"
Moody nodded. "Yes, I'm sure. My informant told me they're secretly planning something."
Dumbledore was silent for a moment, then said, "It seems we must also prepare ourselves, Professor Moody. Let's have our meal first, and then we can go to the Headmaster's office to discuss this further. We can't let them succeed."
Moody nodded. "Yes, Principal. I've already informed the other professors, and we'll be strengthening the school's defenses."
“Very good,” Dumbledore said. “However, we cannot let our guard down. The Death Eaters are very cunning, and we must remain vigilant at all times.”
Moody nodded. "I know, Principal. I will do everything I can to protect the safety of the school and the students."
Dumbledore patted Moody on the shoulder. "I believe in you, Professor Moody."
"You are one of our finest Aurors, and I believe you will succeed in this mission."
Moody nodded. "Thank you for your trust, Principal. I won't let you down."
Dumbledore smiled. "Alright, Professor Moody, sit down and have something to eat. You look tired."
Moody nodded. "Okay, Headmaster. I'll go take a break. But I'll stay alert."
After saying that, Moody walked to the empty seat next to Severus and sat down.
