"What do you mean?" Latis looked at the hooded man with a blank expression.
The hooded man was silent for a moment before continuing:
"At this point, there's no point in keeping this secret any longer..."
She looked at A-Ye, whose body was covered with shocking wounds, and stared at the tiny sprouts slowly emerging from A-Ye's body. She sighed as if she had finally confirmed something.
“We Herods have elven blood that contains soul magic. When a Herod dies, a seed will be separated from their body. After the seed is planted back in the soil where the mother tree is, it will grow again in time. Of course, that will be a very long process.”
"So amazing?" Latis watched as the hooded man removed a slender seed from A-Ye's body, and asked hesitantly, "Will she still be herself after she grows back?"
“I don’t know either…” the hooded man shook his head and said, “When I was born, the Mother Goddess and the Mother Tree were no longer on the continent of Atlantis. Most of the records about elves no longer exist. I have always lived in the city like a normal human being. The long life has made the Herodians not so afraid of death, so I only hope that death is not the real end.”
She found four or five seeds scattered among A-Ye's clothes, and only after she could find no more seeds did she whisper:
"Only these few are left; all the others have been lost..."
Latis gripped the railing, shoved his face into the gap, and said:
"Brother, don't be sad. After you leave this wretched place in a couple of days, you still have hope of reviving your people!"
A glimmer of hope appeared on the hooded man's face, then faded again.
“Friend, I do not wish to pry into your secrets, but even if you are connected to the magic network and not bound by the magic-suppressing shackles, it is almost impossible for you to break through this cage. The cage mixed with red star meteorite iron is almost immune to apprentice-level magic, and only the strength of a beginner warrior or above can deform it, which is almost impossible for a mage.”
"But the power of magic is to turn the impossible into the possible!" Latis smiled mysteriously, comfortably lying on the pile of straw, sinking his consciousness into his body, and looking at the key that he had already synchronized with.
[Magic Network Key (Replica): The key to accessing the underlying permissions of the Magic Network. The goddess's chosen ones who possess this key will bear the responsibility of purifying the Magic Network. However, because it is a replica that should not exist, the goddess seems unable to perceive this key... Permissions include: Dragon Horn Territory, Forest Sea Territory, Floating Mountain, and Lundia City.]
At the same time, a huge gray-black grid unfolded before his eyes, and Latis could clearly see a shallow, dissipating indentation leading from in front of him out of the cell. He nodded in understanding:
"This seems to be the path the mage's hand followed? So, this recessed area in the grid is where the spell was cast? I can even discern the specific magnitude... Wow, when did that half-elf guy unleash a magical surge of around the fifth ring? He looked so dazed, you really can't judge a book by its cover..."
Latis raised his field of vision, and the dense grid instantly formed a topographic map. The magic occurring in the area showed different waveforms and magnitudes, looking like a real-time radar.
The grid is vaguely divided into four regions: the eastern part of Dragonhorn Territory is marked by Floating Mountain, the northwestern part by Forest Sea Territory, and further north is the magical city of Lundia.
“This should be the scope of this key’s effectiveness.” Latis understood, then he waved the grid and logged back into the magic network. “I was so busy using magic that I didn’t have time to see what other uses the key might have.”
He returned to the entry for "Hand of the Mage," intending to explore its new features, when his attention was suddenly drawn to the flooded chat section.
[A fan of magical dolls: I came here because of its reputation.]
[4 Rue de la République, Lundia: I came here because I'd heard so much about it.]
[The web-web spider crawls in the shadows: drawn by its reputation.]
[Did the newbie mage meditate today?: Just woke up, what's going on? Is there a class representative?]
[Exploding Egg Boy: Same question, the chat history got pushed to the top and can't be seen anymore.]
[Mr. Silver of the Mage's Hand: For more information about Brother Gouzi's exploits, please visit our Mage's Hand channel after learning about the Three Rings "Beacon Communication Technique".]
[I'm a soldier, I'm a dog: Dude, isn't this supposed to be the apprentice chat area?]
[A Magician's Hobby: Yeah, the apprentices are so sweet-talking, I love playing here. Mr. Silver, I've applied to join the channel, please approve it.]
……
Gouzi Ge?
What a despicable nickname! I wonder who it is; it's truly an insult to the dignity of magicians! I wonder what earth-shattering thing this "Gutter Guy" did to attract so many onlookers…
Latis shook his head:
"It seems that the magicians of the continent of Atlantis desperately need a pioneer like me with pure and loyal intentions to clean up the atmosphere of the magic world!"
Latis subtly averted his gaze, subconsciously exiting the chat area, then shook his head and looked excitedly at the newly appeared function.
Chapter 8, Dimensional Journey, Begins!
The jet-black key detached from Latis's consciousness and then merged into the vast magic net like a drop of ink.
But unlike ink drops into the sea, once the key was integrated into the magic network, the entire magic network underwent a dramatic transformation.
Simply put, the UI has been upgraded.
"Wait, what is this? What is this again?" Latis screamed, clutching his head and shouting, "Don't stuff everything in here! It's too full, too full!"
After a series of tossing and turning like a pupa, he finally snapped out of the throbbing pain in his brain and looked at the newly renovated magic net.
Thousands of traditional and folk spells filled the visible area until Latis found the "Expand/Merge" button in the stack of small print, which allowed him to retract the dense spell entries into a few options.
"A magic network quest? What's this?" Latis immediately noticed the interface at the top, but after clicking it several times, the button remained grayed out. "It seems I can't open it. Let's check the spells in the distance first, everyone."
"The first and second rings are beginner-level magic, the third and fourth rings are intermediate-level magic, the fifth and sixth rings are advanced-level magic, and above the sixth ring is legendary magic..." He glanced curiously at the entry for legendary magic, randomly clicked on a spell, and read the description.
[Eighth Ring Spell - Mental Weakness Spell]
[Lexmore: The way to use this spell is to point your middle finger at someone you dislike, and they'll become mentally challenged. Of course, if they successfully get immune to it, you'd better run.]
"..." Latis silently looked at the spell description, scratched his head, took a deep breath, and looked towards the chat area.
[Lekmore: I secretly turned King Hines into an idiot again today. Let's see how long it takes Hines' court mage to break this spell.]
[Lekmore: I smelled a familiar scent while traveling between dimensions the other day. Sure enough, it was that stinky woman from back then. I followed her for two days and finally found a chance to turn her into an idiot. Awesome!]
[Lekmora: I'm getting old, I'm considering whether to pass on the technique...]
[Lakemore: Spread the crap! I have enemies all over the place. If word gets out, I'll be a fucking idiot for a hundred years!]
[Lekmoro: Another idiot. Sigh, sometimes I think, this world is always filled with this kind of struggle and killing, should I seriously study a spell and work for world peace... Come to think of it, I'm getting a little bored with the idiot spell...]
[Lekmol: How can there be such a fun spell! I just turned a night elf who was about to turn into a spider into an idiot, and then she went berserk and started fighting those stupid goblins, it's hilarious... Ah, there's a berserk goblin, I'm going to turn it into an idiot and throw it into the night elf pile!]
[Lekmor: Damn it! Why? Why are goblins immune to the Mind Control spell? I almost became a fallen man...]
[Lekmol: After fifteen experiments, I finally understand—goblins have no brains! I'm going to research a brainless spell that will work even on brainless races!]
“A brainless race…” Latis took a deep breath and shouted, “Aren’t they just inherently idiotic?”
He slammed the chat window shut, feeling the image of the legendary mage crumbling endlessly in his mind...
"Wait a minute!" Latis suddenly exclaimed, "Lekmoro, it seems to be the legendary mage who died more than a hundred years ago in the original owner's memory fragments. So, the messages in this chat area are more than a hundred years old?"
He reopened the chat area and observed it carefully.
The chat area has a message limit of thirty. Within these thirty messages, nothing noteworthy appeared; they were basically records of Lake Moru using his "idiot spell" on various people. The only notable thing was that, under the influence of the key, a pair of parentheses gradually appeared after Lake Moru's identifier. After a search-like sound, a name appeared inside the parentheses.
【Lakemore Building (Lakemore Building)】
"?"
Latis paused, looking up at the top of his head in confusion.
I sell groin in Atlantis (Latis)
"So you're a hero who uses real-name registration to access the internet." Latis forced himself not to look at the sign above his head, nodded vigorously, sighed, touched his chest, and said with his head down, "May there be no idiocy in heaven."
He simply left the chat area, but what he didn't notice was that a new message appeared in the chat area for the "Idiot Technique".
[I'm selling groin in Atlantis: May there be no idiotic techniques in heaven.]
……
"So besides granting access to all spells, I can also find their real names through their online aliases." Latis shook his head, a wicked thought slowly rising in his mind:
"Speaking of which, within the scope of the key's permissions, I seem to be able to create a radar-like detection network. In that case, if a spell is detected, wouldn't I be able to immediately go to the chat area to see who is casting the spell... Or conversely, if everyone leaving messages in the chat area is casting a spell, wouldn't I be able to find that person through the corresponding spell traces..."
"Wait a minute." Latis suddenly froze. "I've become a cyber police officer?"
He slapped himself hard and quickly repented:
"How could I think like that? How could I face the group members who shared the torrents and snake images with me? I'm so sorry... But it's true, if we can determine their general area, it seems easy to find the right people."
"It should come in handy in the future."
Latis shut down the new magic network, which he had almost fully understood, glanced at the hooded man who was sleeping while holding his sister's hand, shook his head, and lay down on the haystack with his hands around his head.
"Simulator, check the time."
The simulator interface instantly appeared in his field of vision.

【Path of the Sage (Today's attempts: 0/1)】
"Oh, it's only 6:30. Let's take a nap and activate Genshin Impact." Latis yawned and closed his eyes.
five minutes later.
"Wait?!"
He sat up abruptly from his deathbed and looked back at the simulator.
【Dimensional Journey (Entry Requirements: 10-50)】
“The simulator, I want this!” Latis shouted, pointing at the lit dimensional journey. “I have exactly 10 tokens left!”
[You have chosen the Dimensional Journey, consuming 10 Goddess Water.]
The interface for the dimensional journey gradually lit up, and Latis excitedly shouted:
"Dimensional Journey, Begin!"

[Entering soon: Bone Spirit Realm]
An ambiguous welcome message drifted slowly past Latis's eyes. He suddenly felt an itch on his head and was about to scratch it when the scene around him changed instantly. A dim stream of particles enveloped him, and then everything went black.
Latis rubbed his eyes, and when he opened them again, a table suddenly appeared in front of him.
