Ateliers' eyes widened instantly as she stared in disbelief at the slender seed in Latis's hand. Unimpeded soul energy flowed back and forth between her and the seed, and without a doubt, she knew that this was her seed.
After a long while, she straightened up, the shock still lingering in her eyes. She subconsciously stroked the stone carving in her hand and asked blankly:
"Big brother, are you a god?"
Latis pinched her cheek hard and laughed:
"What are you thinking? If I were a god, would I still be a novice at the apprentice level?"
He placed the seed in Ateliers's hand and said:
"Anyway, I don't know what this is for right now. If you need it, I'll give it to you as a belated gift from your older brother!"
“Big brother…” Ateliers looked hesitantly at Latis’s still grinning, grotesque smile, her eyes shimmering, and finally chuckled softly, saying:
"Then I'll accept it; it will be of great use to me!"
Then, after thinking for a moment, she picked up the stone sculpture and said with a slight smile:
"Brother, can I borrow this for one night? I'll return it to you tomorrow!"
“Of course!” Latis laughed, then said against his will, “If Arte wants it, I’ll give it to you, I’ll give it to you…”
"Eh~"
Ateliers glanced suspiciously at Latis's guilty expression, blinked, then suddenly stood up, took Latis's hand, and said:
"Big brother, shall we go to the night market? Miss Kurosawa and Kotori said they would write down any good food or fun things they find and tell us. Shall we go together?"
"Ah, ah, okay." Latis scratched his head, and just as he stood up, Ateliers pulled him out of the room.
"Acceleration!"
Artemis's voice held an undisguised joy.
"Run with big strides!"
Latis chuckled and began activating his own magic book.
Artemis paused, then finally burst into joyful laughter, shouting:
"Acceleration! Acceleration! Acceleration!"
"Big strides...I'll take the lead!"
"What's wrong, brother?"
"I forgot my money. The hundred gold coins you gave me are still on the table. I'll go back and get them!"
"Big brother, don't go back! I'll give you more, hehe, take it, it's all yours!"
"God of Gold, Amen!"
In the darkness, they ran towards the brightly lit road like two happy little dogs leaping and bounding.
Chapter 72: What exactly is this rotating station? (Two-in-one)
Hard Stem City gets its name from the thick, intertwined roots of trees that surround the entire town. Encircled by four or five towering ancient trees, the citizens of Hard Stem City ingeniously combined their houses with the roots, building the first large town in the southeastern part of the Forest Sea Territory in this uniquely advantageous location.
"Wuhu!"
Latis slid across the base of the serpentine root that formed a low arch, then seamlessly spun a Thomas Flair, sprang up his gluteus, and leaped onto the root, raising his hand in a pose reminiscent of Sun Wukong as he gazed into the distance.
Artemis landed beside Latis, her robe slightly lifted, revealing a small section of thick stockings for the first time. Her toes touched the ground, and the magical wings behind her instantly dissipated, the robe falling down once again covering her calves.
"Big brother, when did you secretly make this magic book? It seems to run very smoothly, and your crafting skills are almost on par with mine!"
"Of course, this is the grimoire you made..."
Latis chuckled twice, scratched his head, and said:
"It's all thanks to you, Ate."
"My credit?" Atelier Fuss pinched her clothes in confusion. "But I didn't do anything!"
“Well… Arte, look, is the night market that brightly lit area?” Latis immediately changed the subject, pointing to a large area not far away that was divided by the roots that run across the city.
"Hmm, I guess so?" The half-elf had barely finished speaking when she saw Latis suddenly take off running towards that direction, looking rather eccentric. She paused for a moment, then couldn't help but chuckle, before looking at the lights with a touch of melancholy.
When was the last time I saw such a lively scene?
She lightly leaped onto another stem, spreading her arms wide as she walked steadily forward like a balance beam, while looking up at the bright full moon.
"The weather is so nice today."
She couldn't help but sigh.
"I know the weather's nice, but the supermarket next door has half-price chips!" Latis suddenly darted back to her side, put his hands under the half-elf's armpits, lifted her up like a cat, and ran quickly toward the night market.
"Holy crap, I'm starving!"
Artemis looked at the dim scenery rushing by, smiled helplessly, and then put her hood back on.
……
"I'm saying, are you really not buying anything?"
Yashutia struggled to carry a bag of monster materials, looking at the robin with a puzzled expression.
"I have no money."
The robin clutched a string of golden threads made from sweet tree sap, licking the last bit with a blissful expression. Then, he sighed, took out a few loose silver shill coins from his small cloak, and said:
"Handmade items are too expensive; I can only afford a little bit of food."
Yashutia paused, then asked:
"Didn't you work for the Black Hat organization for several years? Where is your pay?"
The robin looked at Yashutia with a puzzled expression, carefully wrapped the candy skewers it had finished eating in a cloth, and planned to keep them as a souvenir when it got home.
"Hey, what's with that look you gave me?" Yashutia shouted, brandishing her fist, a surge of anger rising within her.
"When I met with your boss before, he said they could offer at least two thousand gold worth of monster materials as payment. You guys must be very wealthy!"
"He is him, and I am me," the robin said calmly. "I was sold by my family. Since they bought me, why should they pay me wages?"
“Oh, oh…” Yashutia stammered. She watched as the robin counted out a silver shill with a conflicted expression, then rushed excitedly toward the barbecue stall in front of the tavern. She sighed and silently followed.
"Just one...one baked potato will do, please add extra sweet sauce, thank you, sir!"
The robin handed the silver shill to the stall owner, waited a while, took the fifty copper acquaintances as change, stuffed them into his small bag, and then nimbly ran to the outdoor seating area, sat down, and began swinging his legs while waiting for food.
Yashutia slammed the fifty-kilogram bag down on the table, gave the robin a cold smile, and then walked up to the stall owner under her questioning gaze.
Do you have roasted dragon meat?
Yashutia asked, tilting her chin up.
"Huh?" The stall owner stopped making the sauce. "No, no."
Yashutia frowned, took out a fifty-cent gold white coin from her pocket, slammed it on the table, and asked:
"Is it enough?"
The stall owner's spatula began to tremble wildly. He opened his mouth wide and said in a trembling voice:
"Really, really not..."
Snapped!
Yashutia raised her hand, glanced at the hundred gold whites on the table, and asked coldly:
"now what?"
The stall owner, an older man, collapsed onto the steps of the tavern with a thud, crying out in sorrow:
"Sir, please stop teasing me! This is really not true!"
"Even street stalls in Yanium have it..."
Yashutia sighed and asked:
"So what do you have?"
"Yes, we have venison, suckling pig with bee stings, and fine-wool lamb..."
"No need to say anything, just give me one of each." Yashutia shook her head, leaving five gold white coins behind, and said as she walked back:
"Give me two pitchers of your most expensive wine."
"Can you finish it?" The robin asked, looking at Yashutia's black tank top that outlined her abs, with a puzzled expression.
"I just glanced at it, and if we order everything, there will be at least ten pounds of meat..."
"A mere ten pounds," Yashutia said, her neck stiff. She glanced at the roasted potatoes the vendor had placed in front of the robin, snorted, and asked:
"Little bird, how about we play a game?"
“I have no money.” The robin picked up the roasted potato and flatly refused her invitation.
"I don't want your money."
Yashutia took the throat bone of the robin from the bag, rolled a die, slapped it on the table, pointed to the roasted potato in the robin's hand, and said:
"If I win, you give me a bite of your potato; if I lose, I'll give you a skewer of grilled meat. It's a fair bet."
"Hmm..." The robin, looking at Yashutia's condescending and arrogant gaze, unconsciously added a touch of warmth to his voice, saying:
"Then if you lose, don't go crying back to your older brother."
"Heh, you think I'm afraid of you? I'll go first!"
……
"Arte, are you really not going to buy anything?"
Latis looked around like a country bumpkin, muttering to himself:
"Holy crap, how does this crystal ball keep glowing without a battery? And why does this open bottle float? And what is this spinning thing?"
The owner of the magic materials shop couldn't help but slam his hand on the table and shout:
"What rotating tree? That's a specialty of our Senhai Territory, the Dawn and Dusk Wood! You can tell the time by its rotation speed, don't you have any common sense? Are you a soldier or something?"
"What did the soldier do to you?"
