Chapter 72 The Great Battle Is Approaching (Goodnight everyone, I'll continue updating during the day~ Please subscribe to my first post~)
Several hours later, at dusk, near the sea of the Kingdom of Macintosh, which is next to the Kingdom of Solvi.
A set of three leisure items—a parasol, a beach chair, and iced beer—is displayed on the beach.
A man with a large beard was lying on a beach chair.
"Hey, Captain~ Let's go play~"
Ten-year-old Shanks propelled Roger forward.
"This kingdom must be so much fun, Bucky, you want to go too, right?"
Bucky, standing to the side, pouted and was intently drawing a nautical chart.
"Aha, it's done! This is Lord Buggy's treasure map!!"
"What did you just say, Shanks?"
"Hey, you—your treasure map is pretty good, Bucky's got real talent!"
Bucky Jr. laughed heartily, hands on his hips: "Of course! Wahahaha~"
"I think you should give up being a pirate and go draw, Buggy. Maybe you can become the King of Drawing."
Faced with Shanks's teasing, Buggy's proud smile instantly froze. "Why would I want to be the King of Drawing, you idiot Shanks! Damn it, who are you calling a red-nosed guy?!"
Shanks looked bewildered: "I didn't say you had a red nose."
Bucky grabbed a nearby stick and swung it at Shanks.
"Don't run, Shanks! I'm not Red Nose!!!"
"Captain Roger, help me! ~~~"
The two little ones ran off, playfully fighting.
The newly drawn treasure map was swatted at Roger's face by a gust of wind.
"You're back, Rayleigh. How did it go?"
Half a minute later, Rayleigh swam out of the sea.
He scanned the beach with his Observation Haki, and after confirming that besides Roger, only Shanks and Buggy were fighting not far away, he plopped down on the beach.
Pick up Roger's ice beer and drink it down.
"Just as we both thought, although the lady did not answer directly, there is a very high probability that Bazel is Lox's son."
Roger removed the treasure map that was covering his face, sat up, and smiled knowingly.
"Does Bazel know about this?"
Rayleigh shook his head.
"Oh, I see. It's to protect her son. Hehe, this is getting interesting."
"Roger, you're not planning to snitch, are you?"
When Rayleigh asked him, Roger shook his head. "I'd rather not do something like that. It's enough that the two of us know about this. Don't tell anyone else."
"Kaido, who was Rocks's apprentice, actually took in Rocks's son."
"It seems that only Bazel himself is unaware of his own origins."
Rayleigh tossed aside the empty bottle and asked curiously, "You mean Kaido figured it out too? That's impossible, isn't it?"
"Don't underestimate a newcomer, Rayleigh."
Roger stroked his beard with his right hand, his eyes slightly narrowed, and deliberately lowered his voice.
"No matter what, Kaido spent so much time with Rocks. If it were you, wouldn't you recognize that aura that bore a striking resemblance?"
"And I heard from Newgate that he once competed with Kaido for a new recruit, but failed."
Given Newgate's personality, why would he inexplicably try to steal someone from an intern?
"There's only one possibility: when that man's aura appeared, both Newgate and Kaido recognized the uniqueness contained within it."
"Rocks' madness was etched into his bones; it was an indelible and unique aura."
"Newgate probably gave up in the end because he couldn't be sure if his bloodline was genuine."
"After all, during the time Rocks disappeared, there were no members of the Rocks Pirates with him."
"Therefore, Newgate didn't dare to easily conclude that Bazel was a descendant of Gibeck!"
"After that, it's estimated that Bazel was taken advantage of by Kaido by some twist of fate."
Rayleigh listened and nodded.
"Now that you mention it, Bazel does resemble his mother more. The woman I met in that place also had white hair."
"Although their facial features are somewhat different, you can still tell that they are mother and child who were cut from the same mold."
"Now it seems that the difference may be due to the bloodline of Lox."
"This is truly a super secret, no less than that one great treasure!"
Roger stood up and excitedly waved his arms and legs.
"This is incredible! This is incredible! Hahaha!!"
"If those monsters from the World Government knew of his existence, they would be terrified!"
"If it weren't for me and Garp teaming up back then, the ocean would have been completely destroyed by Gibeck by now!"
"But it's not too late now—"
Suddenly regaining his composure, Roger crossed his arms and squinted as he gazed at the sea.
"Rayleigh, I'm really looking forward to seeing what this ocean will look like in the future!"
"Although he is a descendant of Lox, Bazel's mad bloodline seems to be bound by chains."
"As long as his mother is alive, it doesn't matter if the era of Lox reappears, because the lock will restrain that man."
"But if the coffee lock is gone...—spray, spray, spray."
Roger shook his head and sighed, his face full of schadenfreude.
"Although we don't want to do that kind of thing, the thought of that future..."
"You'd better not even think about it. That woman is accompanied by a man with a very powerful aura."
Rayleigh kicked Roger away, then lay down on a beach chair for a relaxing rest.
"They must be a special race. With that man around, even if those trash from the Grand Line came, they wouldn't be able to do anything to that kingdom."
"Unless it's the remnants of Lox's faction coming, then maybe."
"Besides, Roger, even if those guys on the high seas notice Bazel's difference, they'll tacitly keep quiet."
"Because they have already tasted the flavor of freedom and power."
"They don't want to see a second Rocks appear again. That kind of domineering aura that can suppress an entire era is not something an ordinary person can achieve."
"So I'm just like you, Rayleigh—"
Roger brushed the sand off his straw hat, raised his head, and his eyes were full of fighting spirit.
"I'm really looking forward to seeing how strong that young man will become as he grows up!"
"I look forward to the day I fight him with all my might!"
"That will definitely be the most wonderful battle ever!"
"And his captain, Kaido, who treated Bazel with the respect due to a brother after recognizing and acquiring him."
"He's destined to be an extraordinary man, far superior to any of Gibeck's other companions!"
"Kaido of the Beasts~ that guy's Haki talent is terrifying."
Rayleigh opened his eyes and stared blankly at the parasol.
"Another genius? What a pity. If they had been born a few years earlier, they might have had the same potential as Shiki, making us go all out."
Roger opened his mouth with a smile, but before he could make a sound, Bucky and Shanks' shouts rang out.
"Captain~~"
"Jabbar and the others are back with the supplies!!"
"Jabbar's back! Shanks, Bucky, back to the ship, we're getting ready to set sail!"
Roger immediately changed his tune and stopped mentioning anything related to Bazel.
"Let's go back to the Grand Line and find that Newgate guy!"
Several more days passed.
That night, near the doldrums of the South China Sea and the Inverted Mountain.
Thunder rumbled in the dark clouds, and every now and then a bolt of lightning would emerge and fly into the clouds on the other side in an instant.
"It's thundering, Rayleigh. I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling about this."
Roger stood at the bow of the ship, his right hand drawing his sword from its sheath, his expression solemn.
"That bastard's aura has become even stronger!"
"Hahaha, Roger, I've come to fight you! This time, I'm going to send you to Impel Down!!"
"Fist Bone - Thunder Fist!!"
Roger's expression changed drastically. He stared at the sky in disbelief and blurted out a curse.
"The Rumble-Rumble Fruit!? Didn't you XXX say you wouldn't eat Devil Fruits, you bastard?!"
"Hahaha~~~"
Boom!
A powerful bolt of lightning struck down, but Roger blocked it with his Overlord's Entangling Slash.
"To completely end the era of pirates, I went against my own principles, Roger!!"
Karp appeared on the deck amidst a flash of lightning, looking excited.
Looking at Garp, whose right arm had become elemental, Ray rubbed his eyes vigorously, as if he had seen a ghost.
"Hey, hey, hey, this joke has gone too far, Roger! What are we going to do now?!"
"He's all alone, don't be afraid!"
Jabba drew his axe, about to shout that he had more men on his side, when a huge warship suddenly emerged from the fog of the Calm Belt.
"Let the Roger Pirates' voyage end today!"
Sengoku, draped in a cloak of justice, stood at the bow of the ship, with his eternal lieutenant, Bogart, beside him.
"Karp is just our vanguard; we've been waiting a long time for this surprise attack!"
"Admiral Sengoku, so it was your plan all along—"
Rayleigh and Jabba arrived at Roger's side, but before they could unleash their Haki, another character quietly appeared.
Barrett, who had only recently joined, cracked his neck and laughed:
"Don't forget about me! I can't let this kind of battle slip by!"
Four different streams of Conqueror's Haki burst forth from his body, pressing down on the enemy.
"Warring States Period, make your move!!!"
