Chapter 264 Rita's Interview
"Beautiful lady, may I ask your name?"
"My name is Fleur Delacour, and I'm an exchange student from Beauxbatons."
In an empty classroom, a group of exchange students from Beauxbatons sat waiting for an interview.
As expected, the Daily Prophet dispatched their best reporter, Rita Skeeter, along with a new generation of reporters she had mentored.
For example, Aslot, who once interviewed Ryan.
At this moment, Rita was asking a question, while Aslot, who was standing next to her, took over the role of Rita's sketching quill and was processing everything he heard with his mind.
A year later, I returned to Hogwarts and interviewed the students again.
Aslot felt as if he had been transported to another world, especially after discovering Ryan's increasingly inhumane record.
Because he now truly understands why Ryan made him glad that the interview took place at Hogwarts, rather than somewhere else.
Every night when he was sound asleep, the image of the sun falling to the ground in his mind would wake him up again and again, each time bringing him extreme pressure and violent panting after waking up.
He had been to St. Mungo's many times because of this, but the doctors there told him that it was a psychological problem and that if he didn't want a specialist to work on his memory, he would have to heal himself.
Aslot naturally didn't want anyone to touch his brain, so he politely declined the therapist's suggestion and asked himself for ways to heal himself and get out of his mental block.
The therapist's advice: The best way to overcome fear is to confront it directly.
So this time he volunteered to come to Hogwarts for an interview. This was his initial desensitization training. From contact with Hogwarts to contact with Ryan, he gradually changed his psychological problem of waking up in the middle of the night.
His mind was racing, but as an excellent Rita-style journalist, his pen never stopped.
"Oh, our beautiful Miss Delacour, after these two months of study, what are your thoughts on Hogwarts?"
Rita wore a professional, fake smile. Her sense of smell was exceptionally keen, but her vision was too narrow.
She only noticed that the wizarding world seemed to be venerating Hogwarts again. It seemed that a Hogwarts education was a plus for every wizard.
Unfortunately, her limited perspective couldn't explain why Hogwarts' learning experience was a plus. She could only attribute it to Hogwarts' contribution to stabilizing the situation during the mass parades before the major reshuffle at the Ministry of Magic, such as Dumbledore and Harry Potter.
"The professors are all very knowledgeable and skilled in teaching and nurturing students. The only thing I find a little difficult to adjust to is that the Hogwarts castle has a rather old-fashioned style of decoration."
Hibiscus answered cautiously. Although these were her true thoughts, she might have been more radical if Penelope hadn't told her beforehand.
However, she noticed the quill pen in the hand of the wizard across from her, who claimed to be a Slytherin graduate, frantically scribbling inappropriate remarks.
For example, Beauxbatons' best students thought Hogwarts was too old-fashioned.
For example, Lady Fleur Delacour thought Hogwarts was lifeless and should be buried in a grave.
Hibiscus: !!!
She suppressed the urge to lash out, because this was Hogwarts, and it wouldn't look good for anyone if she went up and slapped him twice: "This is Hogwarts, and I hope this gentleman isn't making things up."
Surprisingly, the words seemed to have a miraculous effect; Aslot, as if having an epileptic seizure, convulsed twice.
The quill pens have all stopped.
"Oh, my dear Aslot. Why don't you write? Aren't you writing very well?" Rita glanced at it and felt that Aslot's writing perfectly matched her thoughts.
"I—I—have—" Aslot stammered.
Rita had no idea that Aslot harbored such a deep-seated resentment towards Hogwarts, and even if she did, she probably wouldn't have cared.
Because you never know pain until it happens to you.
"Oh, my dear Aslot, you can't do it this way. Let me teach you how to write it."
Rita picked up a paper and pen and began to express her pent-up emotions—if she truly had passion and it wasn't just a melodramatic plot.
"This is Hogwarts, Ms. Rita."
"Of course I know this is Hogwarts, but she's just a student, an exchange student from Beauxbatons."
The two whispered to each other.
Aslott seemed worried, but Rita didn't seem to care.
The former worried that Ryan might use this as an excuse to directly cause trouble for him, while the latter was unconcerned. Just because she couldn't afford to offend Dumbledore didn't mean she couldn't afford to offend a student. She had access to countless bombshells about high-ranking, old-school officials in the Ministry of Magic! Any one of them was far more valuable than anything a student could possess!
Then, the two whispering fell silent, because Fleur on the other end pulled out her communicator: "Ryan, I need your help. There's a reporter named Rita who's distorting the truth and confusing right and wrong when she's interviewing us Beauxbatons students."
A clear voice came from the other end of the communication channel: "I offer two services. One is to break the legs of that Rita and throw her out. The other is to solve the problem at its root by integrating the Daily Prophet and letting the editors-in-chief and editors know what they can and cannot say."
Fleur chuckled. This was her biggest source of confidence at Hogwarts—she wasn't worried about being bullied because someone was backing her up: "Isn't this a bit too extreme?"
"How could that be? I'm your friend, your professor, and the main reason you came to Hogwarts. So if they dare to tamper with the interview, they're slapping me in the face. Which classroom are you in now? I'm coming over."
After giving Ryan the exact address, Fleur hung up the communicator. She watched as the wizard on the other end swayed precariously before collapsing to the ground with a thud.
The witch named Rita opposite her also looked grim. She gripped her quill tightly and drew unconsciously on the parchment, seemingly trying to figure out what to do.
As she herself said, she couldn't afford to offend Dumbledore, so even though she wrote countless tales about Dumbledore, as long as Dumbledore was still alive, these books could not be turned into Galleons.
In their eyes, Ryan now is not much different from Dumbledore; both are people they can easily deal with.
Moreover, unlike Dumbledore, who gives the impression of being tolerant and gentle, Lane gives the impression of being a spirited and sharp-tongued young man who won't discuss the big picture with you.
Because this kind of teenager believes he's in charge. Just like when he claimed in his communicator that he would completely correct the Daily Prophet, he not only said it, but he also did it.
Rita felt an unprecedented crisis; the fickle nature of energy and the distortion of facts made it seem as if she had encountered a natural enemy.
Perhaps this little girl—after thinking through all the Ministry of Magic secrets she knew, realized that none of them were useful. She could only look at Fleur, because Ryan had just given her two choices to pick.
