Chapter 260: Echoes of Time and Space
Chapter 260: Echoes of Time and Space
The Terminator's power has subsided temporarily, but the aftershocks of the rift still echo in every corner of the universe. The structure of spacetime has not fully returned to balance, but rather exists in a more bizarre state. The flow of time is sometimes fast and sometimes slow, the boundaries between past, present, and future have become blurred, and even the Guardians' own sense of existence is often disturbed by the distorted spacetime.
Lysa stood before the star map, watching the gradually dimming light, his unease growing stronger. "Although the Terminator has temporarily halted the reboot process, we can't delay much longer. The energy of the rift is still spreading, and this energy is eroding the rules of the entire spacetime."
"We must find the root of the rift as soon as possible, otherwise the power of the Terminator will be activated again." The Arbiter, with his twin blades in hand, calmly analyzed, "The laws of the universe do not collapse for no reason. There must be a deeper reason for the existence of this energy."
Kane stood to the side and said slowly, "The reason for this may not be as simple as the rift. The disordered spacetime we saw before, and the altered history in our memories, all indicate that there may be some greater force hidden behind the rift."
The observer's voice came from the star map, tinged with a deep tone: "You are right. The rift is not simply an energy disorder; it is reversing the trajectory of the universe and even altering the turning points of destiny. If we cannot find the source, the history and future of the universe will be completely rewritten."
The Guardians decided to investigate the region in the universe most severely affected by spacetime distortion, a place known as the "Echo Lands." According to the star charts, the flow of time in this region had completely spiraled out of control, with past events and future scenes appearing alternately, as if the universe itself was trying to convey some kind of message.
"The phenomenon of 'Echo Lands' may be a manifestation of the universe's laws resisting the rift." The observer's voice was calm but tinged with anxiety. "These echoes are not ordinary time remnants, but part of the universe's self-protection mechanism. They may tell us the true origin of the rift."
Lessa nodded, a resolute glint in her eyes. "No matter how dangerous it is there, we must go and see. This may be our only chance to find a balance."
The journey into the "Echoes" is exceptionally difficult. Time flows completely out of control in this region, and with each step the guardians take, different fragments of time appear before their eyes. Past wars, future destruction, and historical scenes that have never happened constantly alternate before them.
"What's going on?" Kane looked at the constantly changing scenes around him, his face full of doubt. "These scenes seem to have been extracted from different timelines, but they are incomplete, as if they have been cut out by someone."
“This is the echo of spacetime.” The observer’s voice carried a hint of unease. “These afterimages do not appear randomly; they are the truth that the laws of the universe are trying to piece together about the cracks. Each image may be related to the formation of the cracks.”
Lysa stared at the ever-changing scene before her, then suddenly stopped, her gaze fixed on a peculiar image. In it, she saw herself, but it wasn't a memory; it was a completely unfamiliar scene. In it, she stood alone before a vast chasm, arguing with a blurry figure.
“What is this?” Lessa asked in a low voice. “I have never experienced anything like this before.”
“This might be you in another timeline.” The observer’s voice carried a heavy tone. “The effects of the rift have begun to alter the trajectory of fate. What you see may be a future that has been erased, or it may be a past that never happened.”
Kane frowned. "If even our memories are being altered, what can we still believe in?"
“We must believe in the present.” The Arbiter’s voice was deep yet firm. “The past and the future have been disrupted by these cracks, but all we can control is our actions in this moment. Move forward and find the source of the echo.”
As the Guardians ventured deeper into the Echoing Lands, they discovered that the echoes of time were not merely fragments of history, but also visions utterly beyond their comprehension. Among these visions appeared a colossal halo, its center seemingly connecting all timelines, radiating an indescribable sense of oppression.
“What is that?” Lessa stopped in her tracks, her eyes filled with shock. “It looks like the core of the universe, but it doesn’t seem like a real thing.”
The observer's voice was low and tinged with fear: "That is the fulcrum of destiny, the intersection of all timelines in the universe. Every timeline emanates from here, but the energy of the rift is eroding it. If the fulcrum collapses, all timelines in the universe will completely disintegrate."
"The pivot of fate has been affected by the crack?" Kane's voice was deep as he gripped his twin blades tightly. "Then our mission becomes even clearer. We must protect it and not allow the crack to continue to erode it."
However, just as they approached the pivot of fate, a familiar voice suddenly rang out.
"Are you interfering with the workings of the universe again?" The Terminator's voice came from the depths of the pivot, and its energy avatar reappeared, carrying an irresistible pressure.
“Terminator!” Lysa gripped his spear tightly. “You want to stop us again? The fulcrum of destiny is being eroded by cracks. If we don’t act, everything will be destroyed!”
"The fulcrum of destiny belongs to the universe itself," the Terminator's voice coldly replied. "It doesn't need your interference. Your actions will only make the fate of the universe more chaotic."
"If we don't act, the universe will collapse!" the Arbiter roared. "Are you going to just stand by and watch the laws of the universe be torn apart?"
The Terminator paused for a moment, then said, "I will protect the pivot of destiny, but not through your methods. The existence of the rift is a result of the universe's self-adjustment. Your intervention will only disrupt this process."
“Self-adjustment?” Kane sneered. “The expansion of the rift is not self-adjustment; it is destroying everything.”
“You cannot comprehend the deep rules of the universe,” the Terminator’s voice was icy. “But I can allow you to approach the fulcrum and see the true source of the crack.”
With the Terminator's permission, the Guardians approached the Pivot of Fate. At the heart of the Pivot, they saw a colossal rift, within which surged boundless spacetime energy. This energy was not only destructive but also contained the deepest secrets of the universe.
“This is the origin of the rift…” Lysa said in a low voice, his eyes filled with shock. “It’s not just a loss of control over energy; it connects to the root of all timelines in the universe.”
The observer's voice carried a hint of complex emotion: "This is the intersection of the cosmic timeline. The formation of the crack may not be accidental, but rather part of the inherent rules of the universe."
“But its existence threatens all timelines.” The Arbiter gripped his twin blades tightly. “We must fix it, no matter what.”
The Terminator's voice rang out again: "Repair? Your power is insufficient to repair the fulcrum of fate. If you insist on interfering, the consequences will be unimaginable."
Lysa's gaze was resolute as she slowly raised her spear. "Perhaps our strength is insufficient, but we will not give up. The future of the universe cannot be ruined because of your indifference."
