Chapter 52 Surveillance Operation, New Minister, SSS-level Regret Preview!
"Just as we analyzed, Lucius Malfoy did indeed keep a Horcrux for Voldemort. He provided Voldemort with a large amount of funds, so Voldemort had a certain degree of trust in him."
Lucius's will was not firm. When he saw that I had taken the initiative to go to Malfoy Manor to find him, he panicked slightly. With a little persuasion from me, he gave in and obediently handed over this rather special Horcrux.
Unlike the other Horcruxes containing Voldemort's soul fragments, the soul fragment in this diary Horcrux contains Voldemort's complete memories and understanding from his younger days.
It can even emit mental fluctuations, attracting wizards to communicate with it by writing in their diaries.
He even constructs a mental illusion for communication, using his youthful and handsome appearance, excellent knowledge of dark magic, and linguistic charm as means to break down the defenses of those he communicates with, ultimately achieving a terrifying effect similar to the Imperius Curse controlling those he communicates with.
After obtaining this diary, the 'young Voldemort' inside refused to communicate with me. I used some methods to force a conversation with him and uncovered the secret of this Horcrux.
This should be the first Horcrux Voldemort created, completed before he even graduated from Hogwarts. This was my oversight.
Dumbledore slowly recounted how he obtained the Horcrux in his diary and the contents of his investigation.
"And this magic chain?" Dudley asked.
"I put it on! These chains have sealed off all of the 'young Voldemort' inside the Horcrux from all external perception, preventing him from causing any trouble."
Possessing this Horcrux is risky. Lucius has kept it locked in a large chest for so many years. Now that we have it, we must take precautions.
"Dumbledore replied."
"What if I want to meet the young Voldemort inside?"
Dudley asked again, "It's not easy to find someone to vent your anger on. Locking them up will kill your motivation."
He has many important experiments to conduct and needs the help of the young and handsome Mr. Tom!
"Dudley, can you be sure you won't be affected by Voldemort's remnant soul?" Dumbledore asked with some concern. "Although your magic is powerful, you are still inexperienced."
“Teach me how to break the magical chains first, Dumbledore!” Dudley said. “I will open the chains only when I am fully confident.”
“Alright!” Dumbledore agreed.
"Tell me about Barty and Little Barty! Is Little Barty still alive? Did he escape?"
After discussing the diary Horcrux, Dudley asked another question.
“He lived, and he escaped!” Dumbledore replied curtly.
Dali frowned: "Have you found out anything about him...?"
"But they didn't escape!" Dumbledore interrupted Dudley, abruptly changing the subject.
This left Dali speechless, rolling his eyes: "What's going on?"
"Haha! Just kidding, this is also a good way to regulate emotions."
Dumbledore was in a much better mood than before and explained, "When I Apparated to Crouch's house, I saw Barty Jr. running out of the house and attacking his father, Barty."
Seeing that Bati was about to be overwhelmed by his son's attack, I secretly cast a few silent spells to help Bati, allowing him to defeat his son, tie up his son Little Bati, and take him home.
Barty must have realized someone was helping him, but he couldn't find me, so he had to give up.
After that, I stayed near Crouch's house and wrote letters to the famous Auror Mad-Eye Moody and Remus Lupin, Harry's father's best friend, asking them to come to the scene and take over monitoring Barty's whereabouts from me.
Both of them are extremely powerful wizards, especially Moody. He captured more than half of the dark wizards in Azkaban. With them both around, we can rest assured that Barty will not escape our control.
Dudley thought for a moment. In the original story, Barty the Younger and Little Star barely managed to capture Moody. Now Barty the Younger was alone, while Moody had Lupin the werewolf as a teammate. The advantage was in Dudley's hands, so there shouldn't be any major problems.
However, out of caution, he still reminded Dumbledore:
“We can arrange some more trustworthy ordinary wizards to provide backup. This is a long-term monitoring task. Moody and Mr. Lupin may not be at full capacity 24 hours a day. Sometimes they may have to take turns.”
"Dali, you're so thoughtful!"
Dumbledore thought Dudley's words made sense, so he thought of the names of several other loyal companions and prepared to write letters to them in a little while.
As darkness fell, Dumbledore did not have dinner at the Dursleys' house.
After Dudley attached a talisman to him and taught Dudley the basic spell to break the magical chains, he teleported back to Hogwarts.
Dumbledore told Dudley that he would have to interview several candidates in the next couple of days to select the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor to replace Quirrell for the year.
Professor McGonagall has been helping him select some outstanding wizards during this time.
Among them is a young witch who recently returned to settle in the British wizarding world from the American wizarding world. She is the most outstanding in terms of strength and has extensive knowledge of dark magical creatures, making her very suitable for the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.
In addition, the election for the new Minister of Magic will be held tomorrow, and Dumbledore will be in charge of it.
Work is very busy, and there are many things to do.
The centenarian still needs to work hard.
August 14th.
At the ministerial election conference held by the Ministry of Magic.
Kingsley Shackles, who was not too old, disregarded the restrictions of seniority and won the election as the new Minister for Magic with an overwhelming advantage based solely on his loyalty to Dumbledore.
Ninety-eight percent of the wizards who participated in the election cast their votes for Kingsley.
This rendered another ministerial candidate, senior Auror Rufus Stringer, a mere bystander in this election, as he watched Kingsley, a mid-ranking Auror who was previously inferior to him, suddenly become the high-ranking Minister of Magic.
That evening, after presiding over the election and visiting Gaunt's old house, Dumbledore came to the Dursleys' house again.
Despite Dudley's earnest reminder, he did not suffer any mishaps during this operation, unlike in the original story.
They successfully brought Dudley the Horcrux that had been magically sealed away—the Marvolo Gaunt ring—along with the Resurrection Stone embedded in it.
Like Dumbledore's Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone is rated SSS by the system.
Dudley took this worthless stone, whose grade and function were completely mismatched, off his Gaunt ring and started playing with it, only to receive this system notification:
[The system has detected that the host has touched the Resurrection Stone, one of the Three Holy Relics of the Dead, triggering a system notification.]
Collecting all three Deathly Hallows unlocks the SSS-rank special regret event - The Death Curse of the Deathly Hallows.
[This unfortunate event is extremely difficult to complete, requiring multiple confrontations with real death crises. The host is advised to handle it with extreme caution.]
