Chapter 10 Diary
Chapter 10 Diary
Draining his limp body, Green staggered into the public restroom and buried his face in the sink filled with cold water.
The biting cold water jolted him awake, but it also temporarily cleared his mind.
After a quick shower, he almost instinctively made his way back to his room and buried himself in the covers. He was so exhausted that he fell asleep almost instantly.
It wasn't until noon the next day, when the sunlight shone directly on his face, that Green slowly opened his eyes.
By this time, he had recovered most of his strength. Although he was still in pain and somewhat listless, at least the dizziness and nausea that had brought him to the brink of collapse had subsided.
He sat up, rubbed his temples, and sat there blankly for a moment before he was fully awake.
I got up and opened the window, letting the sunlight and slightly noisy air flood into the room, my gaze sweeping across the street below.
Carriages and pedestrians come and go, vendors shout, children play, neighbors chat... everything seems so ordinary, full of the breath of life.
At least on the surface, the storm has passed.
All he can do now is wait.
He needed to wait for the mysterious white cat to reappear. At the same time, he also needed to confirm whether William's matter was truly over and whether the Crimson Order had targeted him.
Only when all the troubles are resolved can he return to a normal life. As for whether he can become an "Extraordinary One," that is not the most important thing right now.
Suddenly, he remembered the journal he had taken from William's house, turned around and pulled it out from under his pillow.
The first half is filled with warm and everyday records. The content is about the children's growth, the wife's cozy daily life, and their hopes for future family life.
One of the pages also contained a dried flower.
As he flipped through the pages, Green gradually sensed that something was wrong.
Sunny on November 7th.
Spiritual stability.
Today, little Thomas caught a butterfly in the garden and carefully showed it to me. He also managed to make a rose bloom ahead of schedule.
He's shown amazing talent. I need to start saving money now to collect the ingredients for his potions. The Vanderbilt family is about to welcome a new prodigy. Thank God!
The family is about to usher in a new era of glory!
His eyes, so much like his mother's, were truly beautiful.
......
The atmosphere in the department was becoming increasingly suffocating.
Those members of the National Unity Party are becoming increasingly unscrupulous. Their proposed Industrial Centralization Act is clearly intended to firmly grasp the economic lifeline in their own hands, and any amendments put forward by our Republican Progressive Alliance have been rudely rejected.
Secretary Alton slammed his fist on the table again at the meeting today, accusing us of "hindering the nation's progress." It's laughable; is their so-called progress simply crushing all dissenting voices?
"A person with extraordinary talent?" Green frowned. It was a new term, but it didn't seem difficult to understand.
His gaze lingered on the words "National Unity Party" and "Republican Progressive Alliance".
As an investigator, he had also heard about the political landscape of Oberhafen, and indeed the entire Union of Byronvis.
Beneath the surface, undercurrents surged, and power struggles were commonplace. William, caught in the middle, clearly did not have an easy time.
He continued flipping through the pages.

Winters in Oberhafen are always so dreary.
I ran into trouble today. On my way home from get off work, a well-dressed man stopped me.
He claimed to be a representative of "certain people who care about the future of the country," and I could sense that he was also an extraordinary person! But I don't know what path he took.
Most importantly, he accurately stated Thomas's daily route to school, the bakery Mary frequented, and even my father's address in the countryside. He didn't make any explicit threats, but the meaning of every sentence couldn't be clearer.
I know what they want! They want me to "remain silent" about that damn bill during next week's parliamentary questioning, or better yet, to support their proposed amendments.
That amendment would relinquish even the last vestige of regulatory power.
What should I do? For my family's sake... it seems I have no choice.

I betrayed my path and my beliefs.
During the questioning session, I not only remained silent, but I also convinced them of the apparent rationality of the amendment clause.
Several of his colleagues cast surprised glances at him.
Minister Alton gave me an approving look, which made me feel disgusted.
When I got home, Mary asked me if I wasn't feeling well, because I looked so pale.
I hugged little Thomas; he was the family's only hope.
The handwriting in the diary is still very neat up to this point, and it could even be said that it is all about daily life and work. But when you turn to the next page, the handwriting begins to become messy.

No!!!!!!!!!
Thomas!!! My son!!!
They said it was an accident… but when I arrived, the spiritual energy remaining at the scene… was chaotic, guided! That wasn't an accident! It was murder! A despicable act against me!
He is so small, so fragile...
My world has collapsed.
"Was it retaliation?" Green murmured. Without thinking much, he quickly flipped through the pages.
【12月29日
I can't stop thinking about it!
I did exactly what they told me to do!
Who did this?!
I hate it!! I'm going to check the secret records in the department's archives, and I'll make those people pay!

They've arrived. People wearing dark red hoods.
They know my pain, they know my hatred. They say that law and justice cannot reach true darkness. They are right.
They mentioned "Father God," "the other side of the abyss of flesh and blood," and... power. Power enough to tear apart those hypocrites, power enough to make Thomas... return in some form.
How ironic. I betrayed my faith to protect my family, only to lose them in the end. Now, these people tell me that through another kind of "betrayal," God the Father can grant me revenge and...reunion?
What else do I have to lose?
This diary entry reveals that the death of William's son was the catalyst for his downfall; at this time, his handwriting was sometimes chaotic and sometimes exceptionally neat.
The person with the dark red hood might be the "Crimson Order" mentioned by the white cat.
"It seems these people are everywhere; William must have been being watched long ago..."
Thinking about this, a thought suddenly popped into Green's mind: Could it be... that they were the ones who killed Thomas?

The ritual is ready, all that's missing is the core... It can help me transform from an extraordinary being to a gifted being. All I need to do is devour the 'past' to gain even greater power.
I locked the attic. I only need to leave for three days, then come back for a promotion.
Mary was worried, but she didn't understand. She couldn't comprehend that this would be our family's true and eternal "reunion." God the Father was watching over me from beyond the "endless stomach."
Soon, I will bid farewell to the powerless William and be reborn. At that time, all my enemies will be reduced to dust by my wrath, a fusion of the power of my family and the Crimson Gift!
We... will never be separated in His kingdom.
The handwriting ended there. Green closed the journal and leaned against the window.
He roughly understood the ins and outs of the William incident. But upon carefully examining the details in the diary, he sensed a deeper, more secretive conspiracy.
