Chapter 45 Halloween Eve Events
Chapter 45 Halloween Eve Events
In the last few days of October, Hogwarts seemed to be doing as usual, but in reality, every young wizard was brewing restlessness in their hearts.
In the History of Magic class, the first-year students began frequently asking Professor Binns questions about the history of ghosts and spirits, which completely disrupted Professor Binns' teaching plan—although nobody really knew if such things existed.
The ghostly professor flew into a rage, roaring at Seamus Finnigan, who had his hands raised high, "Stop asking those stupid ghosts! I won't answer anymore! Put your hands down, Sean Panick! Hufflepuff deducts 5 points!"
Seamus said, feeling wronged, "Professor, my name isn't Sean Panick, nor am I Hedgehog..."
Harry and Ron quickly grabbed him and covered his mouth.
But aside from the History of Magic and Potions classes (where no one dared to ask Snape), the other professors were happy to let the young wizards, who had been studying for two months, relax.
The usually serious Professor McGonagall conjured up a bunch of dancing skeletons from her desk.
Professor Flitwick recounted with great enthusiasm his extraordinary experience of spending Halloween with vampires and werewolves when he was young.
Amidst this excitement and anticipation, October drew to a close, and on the eve of Halloween, Hogwarts was already immersed in a festive atmosphere.
Even though the weather was already quite bad at this point.
One day, the mountains surrounding the school began to be covered in snow and ice, the sky was always gray, and the frost on the ground in the mornings became thicker and thicker.
This forced Hagrid to wear his mole-skin coat, rabbit-skin gloves, and hat, making him look like some kind of furry monster, as he laboriously swept the campus with a broom.
The same applies to October 31st.
Vaughn, carrying his book, passed through the courtyard and greeted Hagrid. When he reached the Great Hall, he found that the braziers and torches that had been placed there had been replaced with pumpkin lanterns.
Many decorative ribbons hung from the ceiling, and each little wizard discussed with great interest the changes in decorations and what kind of program would be held this Halloween.
Fred and George said that last year Dumbledore hired the Ghost Band to perform, and their wailing tunes put half the auditorium to sleep.
Percy said that as a prefect, he hadn't received any notice from the school that there would likely be no program this year—speaking of Percy, he hadn't seen Vaughn for a long time since Vaughn was sorted into Slytherin.
It wasn't until Percy discovered that his younger brother was getting along well in several houses that he approached Vaughn one day: "My dear brother, I've been so busy lately, did anyone bully you in Slytherin?"
Vaughn just chuckled...
Harry whispered to a few friends, "There's definitely no program. Dumbledore has his little secrets to hide; how could he let outsiders into the school?"
Hermione looked at him with newfound respect: "I thought you'd complain that it wasn't lively enough."
"I'm living a lively life every day now."
Harry said listlessly.
The closer the Quidditch season got, the more insane Wood became. If it weren't for everyone threatening to kill themselves, he probably would have organized Quidditch training sessions all over Halloween.
But I can't escape training this afternoon!
"Ron, you can keep me company this afternoon... uh..."
Harry decided to share the good times with his best friend.
But when he turned his head, he found that Ron hadn't said a word, was staring blankly with tears streaming down his face, looking like he was about to leave this world and was taking one last look at the human world.
"Ron, what's wrong?"
Ron held Harry's hand emotionally: "Harry, take good care of yourself from now on. When you grow up, make a lot of money. If you have anything good to eat, drink, or do, remember to bring me some..."
Then, he was rendered mute by a silent spell cast from across the long table.
When Harry looked over, Vaughn, who was reading a book and eating broth, casually put away his wand.
Harry looked around, but everyone continued talking as if they hadn't seen anything.
Isn't it normal for Ron to be bullied by his brother?
Harry silently turned around, pretending not to see Ron's wide-eyed, flailing arms and legs as he struggled.
……
In the evening, Harry, who had practiced Quidditch all afternoon and whose hair had turned into a mohawk, returned to the Great Hall exhausted. The Great Hall had been completely transformed.
The professors used magic to completely transform the pumpkin lanterns, making them emit a dazzling array of colors.
Countless bats fluttered among the magnificent walls and ribbons, bathed in the starlight and moonlight cascading from the ceiling, while a long table below was piled high with delicious food.
Harry walked to his usual spot, but only looked at Hermione.
"Hermione, have you seen Ron?"
Hermione nodded, a little disgusted, and said, "He was here a moment ago, eating roast meat with his mouth all greasy, but Vaughn just called him away."
Harry didn't ask any more questions. Over the past few days, he had been hearing Ron say that he had agreed to the devil's conditions and regretted it.
The two brothers probably went to "connect" again!
Feeling incredibly hungry, Harry quickly forgot about Ron in front of the delicious noodles.
But he had only been eating for a short time, and was gnawing on a potato, when the auditorium doors were suddenly pushed open.
Professor Quirrell burst in, his face contorted with terror. He ran breathlessly across the suddenly silent student tables to the teachers' table and cried out to Dumbledore, who was staring at him:
"Troll! Troll! In the underground classroom..."
After saying that, he collapsed to the floor and lost consciousness.
No one noticed the way Dumbledore was staring at Professor Quirrell. All the students panicked. The older students, who knew the destructive power of trolls, turned pale and started whispering among themselves, while the younger students, who were unaware of the situation, screamed and shouted.
And then there are the troublemakers who take the opportunity to cause mischief.
The entire auditorium was noisy.
It wasn't until Dumbledore came to his senses that he instructed several heads of the house to restrain their respective houses while simultaneously casting a loud spell: "Quiet, ladies and gentlemen. It is regrettable that the Halloween dinner must be temporarily suspended. Prefects, lead the students back to the common room."
"Professors, please come with me to the basement."
Although Dumbledore had left in a hurry, order was finally restored. The heads of the four houses, following his instructions, gave instructions to the prefects and then hurried to the basement.
Like other young wizards, Harry and Hermione followed Percy in bewilderment, listening to their classmates from wizarding families discussing trolls with either fear or excitement.
Only when they reached the top of the stairs did he suddenly remember something, and in fear, he grabbed Hermione's sleeve:
"Ron and Vaughn!"
Hermione's face also turned pale: "They don't know anything about trolls... I'm going to find Percy!"
Harry quickly stopped her: "Percy's so stubborn, he only knows to look for the professors, but they're all in the basement now. I don't think Vaughn and Ron have gone too far. Let's try looking for them upstairs first."
