Chapter 872 - 898: Turmoil Unfolds (Part 2, Fourth Update)
"Drive safely," Camden River reminded.
Mia Ginger nodded, pulled the car door shut from inside, and Louis Cox stepped on the gas, speeding off at an alarming velocity.
"Slow down," Mia hurriedly fastened her seatbelt and asked in confusion, "Why are you here?"
"Just a stroke of luck coming early," Louis sighed. "Why were you wasting words with those reporters? Last time I saw you, you seemed pretty fierce. With their cameras, just smash them; let them go back and get scolded. They’re annoying just to look at."
"People in every industry are a mixed bag..."
Before Mia could finish, Louis snorted at her.
Mia rolled her eyes at him, decided to remain silent, and turned her head to look at the street scenery outside.
——
Meanwhile, at the school.
The reporters were still in shock.
The speed of the car earlier had scared the daylights out of them, stopping their hearts in their tracks. Before they could gather themselves, they scrambled to check their cameras. Not only had Mia disappeared, but even the guy who followed her had gone far away.
Camden River breathed a sigh of relief and leisurely walked towards the dormitory.
Halfway there, a familiar female voice suddenly called from behind, "Camden River!"
It was Windsor Myres.
After a brief thought, he stopped walking.
Windsor caught up to him, pursed her lips, and asked, "What were you doing just now?"
Camden glanced at her, "You saw?"
"What do you mean?"
"What are you asking about?"
"I mean, what do you mean?!" Windsor suddenly exclaimed, frustrated. "The moment something happens to her, you speak up for her, and does the whole school need to know? Do you think you’re the gallant knight wanting to send her home? Why did you do this?"
"I don’t need to explain to you," Camden looked at her, his expression indifferent.
"To make me jealous? Or to make me envious?" Windsor bit her lip looking at him, "Camden, you succeeded."
"I’m not as narrow-minded as you think," Camden looked steadily at her and said, word by word, "I know exactly what I’m doing. I do what I believe is right, and it has nothing to do with anyone else."
"You’re not that narrow-minded?" Windsor sneered, "Then what about that time you kissed Tong Tong?"
Camden was stunned for a moment, then said stiffly after a pause, "As of now, that’s the one thing I regret most in my life."
Windsor was taken aback too, unable to hide a trace of delight on her face.
However, Camden’s face only grew colder, "Not because of you. I don’t regret it for you, because you mind. But because I owe it to Tong Tong; I misused and hurt a girl’s purest love to shame you."
Camden’s Adam’s apple bobbed once, and he suddenly laughed at himself, "But in the end, I only shamed myself."
"You!" Windsor looked at him, momentarily speechless.
She hadn’t expected this.
She thought Camden, like her, was tormented day and night.
But, unexpectedly—
He could calmly say such things.
What did it mean?
Does he genuinely believe even Tong Tong is better than her now?
Windsor couldn’t make sense of it.
Why wasn’t Camden suffering or in pain, reminiscing or regretting? Why wouldn’t he turn back or lower his head?
Does he really feel nothing for her?
Windsor could not accept it.
She bit her lip tightly and questioned him, "Do you think Tong Tong is better than me? What did Mia say to you?"
