Chapter 316: Hanga Roa

Chapter 316: Hanga Roa

Uriel was having the most incredible dream where the arrival never happened, his parents never abandoned him and he had a normal childhood. After the years he met his friends in highschool and things went smoothly until he went to college and became an archaeologist that traveled the world visiting the most extraordinary places.

Although it was a dream, he felt as though all of his worries were washed away and he was finally able to rest. But then, he started feeling cold, as though someone puleld off his blanket and he opened his eyes to realize that it was night already, the lounge was as cold as the interior of a refrigerator and he was still wearing nothing but his bathing suit.

He looked around and noticed he was alone. Next to him, the two folding chairs where Nika and Medusa were supposed to be were empty.

’What’s going on?’ He thought. The answer to his question came in an unexpected manner, when he looked outside the window and found out that the ship wasn’t moving anymore and it had landed already. Through the picture window he was able to see the starry night that would compliment the beautiful scenery of an exotic island, but instead of a beautiful landscape he saw what seemed to be an airport.@@@@

"Where are you? Why didn’t you wake me up when we landed?" He probed in the dim lighted lounge, but received no reply. Looking for clues, he found something that could explain why the lights were turned off and why the girls were nowhere to be seen.

On top of the folding chairs, he found the two bikini tops that belonged to Medusa and Nika. The first was white with a cute flowery pattern and the second was purple with an oche outline, though what called for his attention the most was the difference in size.

"If this is a joke, I swear..." Uriel said trying to convince himself that they were trying to play a prank on him, but then stopped mid track. If it was only the girls leaving their bikini tops on the folding chair to tease him, it would have made sense. But turning the lights and heat off, then asking all the members of the Dungeon Raiders to hide was way over the top.

A prank like that went far beyond what any of them would do for no reason. But even if it was a prank, he needed to act as though it was an emergency because, if it was an emergency, he could be wasting precious time that could mean the death of his comrades.

Knowing more or less the way outside from the bridge, Uriel was able to exit the ship, though he was unable to bring anything with him. Fortunately for him, for some reason the interior of the zeppelin was way colder than the outside where a moderately fresh breeze stroked his face and in spite of his scarce apparel he was comfortable.

He scanned his surroundings and saw the shimmer of the rooftops under the night sky at a distance, though there were no lights on. With nothing else to go by, he left the airport, directly through a week fence that offered no resistence whatsoever.

"So, this is the town of Hanga Roa," Uriel muttered to himself at the sight of the houses and small businesses all around him. He expected the town to be either destroyed or reinforced, but there were no walls and the buildings were smaller than anything he’d ever seen.

It was nothing like his megacity or even like the remains of the lost city he knew, it was the first regular small town Uriel ever laid eyes upon. "this looks exactly how it must have looked before the arrival. How is this possible? Did the arrival never happen in here?"
