Chapter 331 Slaughter Part 1

Chapter 331 Slaughter Part 1

"So what?" The chief of the cannibal's deep voice resounded in the 'dining room'.

"If there's enough food to go around, you won't have the need to kill others anymore." Uriel explained, thinking that maybe he didn't understand.

"That's not how it works. Maybe at first I would have taken you up on the offer, eating our kin was disgusting and painful, we all experienced it," He took a look around at his men and then continued. "we ate because we had to, because we needed to make sure as many of us would survive until someone came to rescue us, but time passed and no one came."

"I came." Uriel replied shortly but the man ignored him.

"The first bite was as revolting as it was to be expected, the worst part was the metallic taste of blood, but thanks to that we were able to survive another day. Not just that, we were also able to make tools and torches with the remains and thought that, maybe, there was a chance to exit this cursed place.

We knew the stories, we were raised hearing them from our elders..." The look on the chief's eyes changed and became much more similar to that of his followers, something that didn't bode well for the Dungeon Raiders.

"Stop, please, don't do this." Uriel tried to reason with him in an attempt to calm him down while keeping both hands under the table, as though trying to keep his legs from shaking. But the chief continued his monologue.

"But there was this voice in our heads. It didn't say much and only some of us could hear it. 'More' it said, repeating it over and over. Suddenly, eating just enough to not die wasn't enough and we started causing arguments between each other to create victims, until we were too strong for them. We overpowered them and now it's our right to eat them, such is the way of nature.

Let there be no more words."

"I got him!" Uriel exclaimed.

"No, you fucking didn't!" Nika grunted grabbin her forearm. "the bastard took a bite out of me."

"You taste just as you look." The cannibal licked his lips.

Meanwhile, the rest of the cannibals had broken out from their stupor and threw themselves on top of the hunters from all sides. They were outnumbered and completely unarmed, though what made things more difficult was the fact that their enemies weren't cryptids, but human beings.

Even if they commited sinful acts that went against humanity, they still looked just like regular people. If anything, their skinny frames and sickly complexion only made them more worth of pity in their eyes.

Luna's case was different though, because she made sure the moment when a cannibal came at her with the intention to harm her was also his last. With a clear grasp on human biology, she was able to deliver mortal wounds with minimal effort and the man fell limp on the ground seemingly unharmed, but his internal organs were completely destroyed.

Realizing that six different cannibals were piling up on Sam, Luna took the chance to take off her hoodie revealing her pale skin only to those who looked at her with more hunger than lust. It was a necessary step to begin the painful process of shapeshifting into a werewolf. Her long howl stating that no longer were the cannibals the apex predator in that cavern.

Medusa did her best to hold her ground, but even her powerful moves weren't enough to deal with so many enemies at the same time. Of all those present she was probably the strongest in close combat, but that only applied if the fight was one on one. Now, instead of her usual elegant moves she fought like a cornered beast.

The ovewhelming number of enemies amounted to their strategic disadvantage meant the first mistake could be their last and even when they gave it their all, the best they could do was hold their ground. Everyone needed assistance, while at the same time being unable to provide any to their companions, until someone finally upped their game and took the reins of the situation.
