Chapter 236: Chapter 217: The Battle of the Walls
Su Han’s news undoubtedly surprised everyone, but soon, the patrolling aerial cavalry brought even more accurate information.
A large troop of unidentified forces was heading towards the Tree Domain, charging straight for the Second Ring Area wall, numbering no less than a thousand.
As the news came in, all soldiers of the Tree Domain immediately armed themselves and took up positions on the city walls.
Su Han, Zhu Xiong, and others also arrived atop this northern wall, observing the situation outside.
Outside the walls, the vines were naturally even denser. Though they were beyond the Second Ring, various buildings on either side were more or less covered in vines.
The vines were spread out, and the Lamp Tree Crystals atop them radiated light, dispelling the fog and making hundreds of meters visible as if it were broad daylight.
The Parasitic Corpse Willows on the streets hung still, looking just like ordinary willow trees, while the Vine Puppets had also buried themselves underground.
“Buzz buzz”
With Su Han deliberately remaining motionless, the roaring sound of cars soon filled the streets, bright headlights illuminating the entire street and falling upon the walls.
With the glare of the headlights, the towering wall became unmistakably visible—a massive structure rising from the urban jungle, ten meters high and incredibly thick.
Jiang Long and Guanling Mountain were dumbfounded. Was this what they called a ‘wall’?
They had both heard of the Tree Domain from others, and despite various descriptions, many details weren’t particularly clear.
A few repeatedly confirmed details were that the wall was only five or six meters high and not very thick.
But now, there was clearly a problem, and a big one at that because they realized even the location was wrong—they hadn’t walked long before suddenly arriving at their destination.
Wasn’t it supposed to be near Summer Garden Avenue?
“Dammit, I’m going to skin those guys alive when I get back.”
Guanling Mountain finally burst into curses, his gaze sweeping over the Parasitic Corpse Willows a few dozen meters away and the city wall more than three hundred meters away, his face filled with gravity and caution.
“Jiang Long, I think we’re in trouble this time. These things, and the vines, are probably not going to be easy to deal with.”
At the eleventh hour, Guanling Mountain suddenly began to back out.
But the spark in Jiang Long’s eyes flickered, shining with a dangerous light, “They’ve already spotted us. If you don’t take action, will you ever be able to live it down?”
It was clear that the camp before them was not on their side. Just by the way they kept Blood citizens, not many camps could play along with them.
“Take action?”
Though it didn’t wound the creature itself, the power of the shot was enough to deeply alarm him. What kind of rifle had such firepower?
“Attack!”
Seeing this, Guanling Mountain’s heart tightened. The stronger the enemy’s weapons, the more they had to take them by surprise today; otherwise, if they gave the Tree Domain any chance to breathe...
With that weapon, even a Second-order Contractor could possibly be killed with a sneak attack.
The Book of Blood Spirit immediately lit up, and the Angel Envoys’ figures appeared in front of him in an instant—three of them, at once.
Guanling Mountain’s Angel Envoys all had humanoid forms; one had four arms, two of which were pincers and two like scythes, a humanoid body with bulging muscles, standing seven meters tall, looking very much like a tyrant monster.
The second one was an insect-like creature with a single horn and a split mouth, twenty meters long and about four meters tall, with a sprawling form, blood-red carapace, and six legs that left deep imprints on the ground.
The last one was a wet, blood-drenched half-insect, half-human creature, with a human upper body as robust as an ox, sporting blood-colored horns, from which dazzling red lights burst forth, immediately launching a terrifying attack toward Su Han.
Whoosh
The ground rumbled wildly, as if a dragon were turning over in the earth; a huge Vine Snake thrust out its head, light converging in its mouth to meet and collide with the red light.
With a thunderous noise, a powerful shockwave erupted, instantly shattering the surrounding buildings, and the ground cracked densely.
“Thud thud thud”
The three Angel Envoys, urged on by Guanling Mountain, charged with massive strides toward the fence and the Vine Snake, unstoppable in their momentum to destroy everything in their path.
Jiang Long was slow by a step, but his three Angel Envoys charged forth as well, heading straight for the fence.
With Guanling Mountain creating a distraction, taking down the fence was just a matter of reaching out and grabbing it for him.
‘Once I kill the Contractor, the entire Tree Domain will die.’
He sneered repeatedly in his mind, but his eyes became more vigilant, knowing that a normal Contractor would certainly have more than one Angel Envoy.
Even if the leader of the Tree Domain had not fully contracted a Third Order Apostle, there would definitely be at least two Third Order Envoys.
“Everyone attack the fence, flank it from both sides”
Jiang Long’s eyes were cold as ice; he had no pity for his own people. If they all attacked the city together, spreading their attacks, their chances would be greater.
“The first to reach the top of the wall gets three Enhanced Blood Insects.”
Heavy rewards were promised, and instantly all the Blood citizen warriors were agitated and rushed forth.
Three Enhanced Blood Insects were enough to make them far more powerful, not to mention that now with three Third Order leaders besieging, they were sure to win.
