Chapter 443 The Dungeons Below
Chapter 443 The Dungeons Below
They were asked for their IDs before entering and they were let in without much of a problem. The building was huge.
It was plainly out there that the buildings in this place were well maintained, possibly every year or even six months. The way it was clean, for someone who'd seen the other side of the coin, Sekani wasn't impressed.
He was of the opinion that governments shouldn't live so luxuriously while more than half of the population lived in poverty, it was just wrong in his eyes.
"Mm, to think I've never seen the corners of this building." He didn't mean to utter the words he did so unconsciously.
"Like never? Are you serious Waynworth?" Jesús knew just how badly people from the slums were treated but this was just ridiculous.
Sekani shook his head. Even the building of Blakeson Tech they worked for with his wife was just outside the lower district. He'd only left the lower district once before and that was for school. Never in his youth did he think to waste money going to the upper district.
"For people like me, just going there was a privilege, a privilege we couldn't really afford."
Williams chuckled at the front seat of the car, "that's where you lot belong, all of you."
Sekani flashed him a toothy grin from the rear view mirror. A grin that was both innocent and sinister, Williams was like a deer caught in the headlights. He tried to stop his mind but it had already made him remember of the terrible beating he got a few hours ago.
He cleared his throat and didn't say anything else. The man knew that he needed to redeem himself, many of his comrades saw him getting a beating of his life. Now, he knew that these two would never confess and so he was told to use any means necessary to get a confession out of them.
The car came into an abrupt stop, Williams was glad for it the silence would've been awkward and the driver of the vehicle would've soon realised that he was only quiet because he was a little scared.
"Take the prisoners to the interrogation room." He ordered the man.
Sekani stiffled a laugh at the word 'prisoners' which earned him a hit on the side of his head from the man who was driving.
"Where the hell are they taking us?" Jesús whispered.
Sekani shrugged, "not anywhere nice."
They entered an elevator that travelled for a long time down. The place was bigger than any of them knew, not even Jesús knew about this part of the building. It was clear just how deep this corruption ran in their country.
Sure enough when they arrived, the room looked like a rich person's broom closet. It could only fit four people before everyone inside felt a little claustrophobic.
The guy accompanying them seated them on the two chairs there and took out the handcuffs, he walked out locking the door behind him without a word or instruction.
There was only two chairs, the table and a really dim light stuck to the wall. There were air vents to let fresh air come in the room.
"I've seen interrogation rooms before, the top families here approved them, this wasn't it. This is something else entirely." Jesús commented, feeling every bit of disgust, the room smelled really bad too.
"Are you really surprised? This has Blakeson written all over. This is another part of our country that needs to change."
He agreed but these revelations were just too much for him, they all were coming to him at once. Being a top family that barely knew anything about the society they lived in was embarrassing at best.
They sat there for several hours, without food or water. Without anyone coming in to question them.
"What the hell are they playing at?"
"It's a tactic. They're hoping we panic and just start confessing to a crime we didn't commit, there are probably cameras here, they're watching us but it's too dark for us to pick them up and they're probably very small anyway."
It hasn't even been a minute since he assessed the situation and the door opened.
