Chapter 142 Against the Goblins
Chapter 142 Against the Goblins
After some time, they were able to find the next Goblin camp, The Hobgoblins horde also discovered them as they rushed at them.
The group swiftly arranged themselves into a formation, leveraging their strengths to counter the Hobgoblin horde. Roman took the lead as the vanguard, his towering frame and massive sword serving as both a shield and a weapon of destruction. Millim and her maids flanked him, each contributing their unique combat styles to keep the advancing enemies at bay.
Leon stayed at the rear, his eyes glowing faintly as he activated his Elemental Overlay ability, infusing his weapon with a crackling layer of lightning. The energy pulsed through the air, a reminder of the power he wielded. Roselia moved to his side, her twin swords spinning in a defensive arc as she summoned a protective barrier around the group.
The Hobgoblins roared as they charged, their guttural cries echoing across the clearing. The Captain remained at the back, barking orders in a crude language that sent the lesser Hobgoblins into a frenzy. The sheer numbers of the horde were intimidating, but Leon's group had faced worse odds before.
Roman made the first move, slamming his sword into the ground with a thunderous force. The shockwave rippled through the earth, knocking several Hobgoblins off their feet. Millim wasted no time, leaping into the air with an agility that belied her strength. She came down with a devastating punch, her gauntlets glowing with energy. The impact sent a cluster of Hobgoblins sprawling, their weapons clattering uselessly to the ground.
"Roselia, suppress the ranged ones!" Leon commanded, spotting a group of Hobgoblins armed with crude bows and arrows.
Roselia nodded, her voice calm as she chanted a spell. Arrows of light materialized around her, shooting forward with unerring precision. The archers fell one by one, their weapons breaking apart as they crumpled under her assault.
Meanwhile, Naval and Liliana moved like a well-rehearsed duo. Naval's rapier struck with lightning speed, finding gaps in the Hobgoblins' crude armor, while Liliana's gauntlets delivered devastating blows, the black flames scorching their enemies. They weaved around each other effortlessly, their coordination flawless.
Leon, observing the battlefield, noticed the Hobgoblin Captain finally making its move. It barreled toward Roman, its spiked battle-axe raised high. The ground trembled under its weight, and its roar sent chills through the air.
The group collected the loot left behind by the Hobgoblins, including weapons, materials, and a few rare items that would fetch a good price or serve as upgrades. Among the drops was a glowing crystal shard, which Leon recognized as a Source Essence Fragment-A high tier leveling up material.
"Perfect. This will help with the level grind," Leon said, pocketing the fragment.
After another absorption and leveling up, Leon had now reached Level 92—only eight levels away from advancing to the next tier.
"Great! Let's continue at this pace. I think in three or four days, we might already be at Tier II, ready to advance safely," Leon said confidently. The others nodded in agreement.
Roselia yawned and stretched. "Though, I think we're due for a rest," she said, prompting Leon to pause and observe their surroundings. He nodded and the created the Rift, or rather summon the portal to his personal rift he acquired, some time ago.
"you own a Rift?" Millim asked, tilting her head. Leon nodded. Find adventures at My Virtual Library Empire
"Yeah, it's here," he confirmed.
Roselia chimed in, "After the Rift, we should head back to rest." Leon agreed. He opened the Rift, leading them into a base formed by him, Roselia, and Roman. The rift is an Mountain with lot of tunnel system inside though there are clear distinction of levels in it too, allowing them to clear the first few lower levels and transform the into their own places. Though there were still a few wandering monsters, they were mostly taken care of by two mischievous, mythical cubs—Vulcan, the Volcanic Dragon, and Aqua Raiden, the Blue Imperial Naga.
These two creatures, no longer living in Arune Key Space, had grown out of their "cub" phase. Now resembling ten- or twelve-year-old children in human terms, they were capable hunters. Leon and the others had allowed them to live in the Rift, though they had sealed off the floors where higher-tier monsters resided.
