Chapter 166 10th floor II

They arrived at the gates of the city, joining the long line of people trying to enter.

"Hey! What's this city's name?" Leon asked the person standing in front of him.

The man turned around, eyeing Leon curiously. "Are you from another city?" he asked.

Leon nodded. "Yeah, we're adventurers roaming from one place to another," he said casually.

The man gave a knowing nod. "So, you're a coward, huh? Well, this city is called Sin City," he replied.

Leon raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean by 'cowards'?" he asked, ignoring the edgy name of the city.

"You said you're roaming instead of ascending to the 11th floor. People like you are called cowards," the man shrugged before turning back around.

Leon nodded in understanding. "Yep, forgot that there's that title too."

Apparently, if someone chose to play it safe and not ascend further, people would start tagging them with a "Coward" title in this place.

"How new," Milim scoffed. "It's easy for others to throw around titles without even understanding what someone might have gone through to accept the life they're living." Her voice carried a hint of irritation.

Roman nodded in agreement. "People say many things, but if you focus too much on them, you actually lose sight of what matters."

"True," Roselia added. "Let them talk. It's your life, not theirs. Just live how you want."

Naval glanced at Millim and nodded. "That's true, my lady."

"Smells like blood and bad decisions," Roselia muttered, eyeing a group of men dragging a wounded adventurer into a nearby alley. His screams were cut short, followed by a sickening crunch.

Millim scoffed. "This city really lives up to its name. No wonder people call it a pit for the desperate."

Leon remained unfazed, but his sharp gaze scanned the surroundings. "We need to find an inn first. After that, we focus on finding the Alchemy King's trail."

As they moved further into the city, they quickly realized one undeniable truth—they were being watched.

Dozens of eyes trailed their every step. Some were filled with curiosity, others with malice, and a few with hunger, as if they were already calculating how much they could sell their bodies for if they were to be killed right now.

It didn't take long before trouble found them.

A gang of six heavily armed men blocked their path. The leader, a burly man covered in scars with a jagged sword strapped to his back, grinned wickedly. "Well, well, fresh meat in Sin City? You must be new here."

Leon sighed. "Get lost."

The man laughed. "You got some nerve talking like that. See, around here, newcomers pay a 'welcome fee.' And you lot look like you can afford quite a hefty one."

Roman stepped forward, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. "And if we refuse?"

The man's grin widened. "Then we carve the payment out of your flesh."

Leon's patience snapped. "Then come and try."

The street fell silent. People gathered around, eager to see blood spill. The gang of six drew their weapons, eager for an easy kill.

What they didn't realize was that they had just provoked the wrong people.

With a flicker of movement, Roselia was the first to act. One moment she was standing still, the next she was behind the closest thug, her claws slicing through his throat like paper. Blood sprayed into the air as his body collapsed.
