Chapter 908 is over. We've encountered the worst thing yet.
As soon as Kava and Vodka stepped onto the second floor, while Vodka was still panting heavily, Kava grabbed his sleeve.
It managed to drag its enormous companion along and run at an astonishing speed for nearly five seconds!
Anger can indeed unleash the hidden potential within a person.
"Over here! You fucking have two legs, can't you move by yourself! Don't make me drag you around like a disobedient dog!" Kava cursed angrily, his voice echoing in the empty corridor.
At this point, Grace had completely disappeared from Baijiu's sight.
Perhaps from the moment he broke free from the two bodyguards' grasp, Baijiu had been instinctively racing through this labyrinthine building. He had once again become a gambler, betting everything on a slim chance of finding a clue.
He ran down the second floor from a corner and stepped into a magnificent, gilded corridor connecting to the first floor. The wall lamps on both sides cast dazzling light, illuminating the path beneath his feet.
Baijiu strides forward with its long, slender legs, charging ahead without hesitation.
Unbeknownst to him, he had already passed through the corridor that exuded "luxury" and stood in the center of a dark and empty area.
He frantically tapped his hands on his headset, "Where do we go now? Hurry!"
"Wait a moment." McCallen's voice came through the earpiece, tinged with tension.
"Hurry up! McCarran! I don't have time!" Baijiu growled, his anxiety almost palpable.
“She’s to your north right now,” McCallum said rapidly, almost racing against time, “crossing that bridge ahead!”
“McCarlan, please say that again.” The voice in the earpiece was muffled, mixed with the sound of running wind. “I…”
“Head north, Baijiu! She’s crossing the bridge!” McCallum repeated urgently, who knew if the “intelligent body” would seize control of him again in the next second?
Upon receiving the order, the liquor once again surged forward without hesitation.
Behind his disappearing figure, vodka and kava followed closely. Meanwhile, on the wall of a nearby building, countless eerie blue particles were quietly gathering and wriggling, like living slime.
On another parallel timeline, Grace was running frantically, eventually disappearing into a narrow alleyway barely wide enough for one person to pass through. She kept glancing back in terror; the man who had been following her like a shadow was truly terrifying!
The liquor was now running on the street where Grace had just entered the alley.
Behind him, his two former "partners" still followed him like ghosts, never leaving his side.
“Baijiu! Turn right immediately from your current street and enter the alley on your right!” McCallum’s voice came through the headset, each word clear and orderly. At this moment, he was Baijiu’s eyes.
"Okay! I saw it!" Baijiu responded immediately, then turned and disappeared into the alley.
“Go to the end of the alley, then turn left!” McClane continued to direct. But things rarely go smoothly.
The scenario that McCullen least wanted to see still happened.
The screen of the backup computer in front of him began to distort again. But unlike the last time when the screen went completely black, this time a glaring red exclamation mark appeared as a warning!
Although the computer itself was not connected to the network, the satellite link used for communication remained a potential entry point. As long as a medium existed, the "intelligent entity" could slip through like an eel!
"Bad news! The video feed is gone again!" McClane bent down and frantically searched for other spare equipment. "I need to find another one!"
Old Hei calmly operated the system. Since the problem was with the satellite, they would replace it with another one! Even with the risk of being attacked by "intelligent entities," they had to face the danger head-on!
He plans to use countless satellites in a relay to pave a channel for transmitting information!
Even if a satellite can only transmit one word, it's worth a try!
"The speed at which the 'Intelligent Body' was breached... is far too fast." A hint of weariness, difficult to conceal, appeared on Old Black's face for the first time.
“I simply don’t have time to hack into any more satellites right now.” His fingers were still flying across the keyboard; his hands hadn’t stopped since the communication began.
At the end of the alley, Grace burst out of the narrow passage and ran along an S-shaped path paved with stone bricks, before turning into another, more secluded alley.
Several small boats were slowly passing by in the waterway ahead of her. Without hesitation, Grey unleashed the fastest speed she had ever used, leaping precisely onto one of the boats that was moving normally!
Using the boat as a springboard, she nimbly leaped across, effortlessly and efficiently reaching the other side.
The liquor relentlessly pursued Grace along her route. He arrived just as the fishing boat was about to leave, but he caught the last one at breakneck speed, narrowly reaching the other side.
In contrast, the two people chasing from behind were not so lucky.
Kava stared at the empty opposite bank and angrily slammed his fist into the wall behind him.
To reach the other side, he would need legs twice as long as Baijiu's to barely leap across.
At this moment, Kava seemed unable to comprehend how Baijiu had reached the other side. He was deeply perplexed, replaying the events in his mind over and over again: at what moment did he lose track of his target? In what fleeting glance did Baijiu vanish without a trace?
“McCarlan, I don’t see Grace. Where is she?” Baijiu asked anxiously as soon as he stepped onto the other side of the river.
"Go to the end, then turn left." The instruction coming through the headset was almost identical in tone and manner to McCallum himself.
"Okay, got it!" Baijiu had no doubts and chose to believe without hesitation, running in the direction of the instructions.
“Then turn right.” The voice, identical to McCallum’s, continued through the earpiece, its tone so natural it was as if it were him speaking. “Sorry, I misspoke. It should be left, then left again.”
Inside the safe house, McClane's brow furrowed, his face instantly turning extremely grim. He and the black man beside him exchanged a quick glance. Incredulous confusion and horror simultaneously surfaced in their eyes.
The "Intelligent Body" had infiltrated their communication system without anyone noticing! It could even perfectly mimic McCullen's voice, down to his speaking habits and subtle intonation!
A strong sense of grievance and frustration washed over McCallan. He had rarely been so focused and reliable, and yet he had been so cruelly mocked by the "Intelligent Body" behind his back!
“Oh no…” McClane snapped out of her initial shock, gasped, and hurriedly shouted into the microphone, trying to correct the fatal misdirection: “No! Stop!”
"Baijiu! Don't listen to that imposter's nonsense!" McCallum practically roared, his voice trembling with urgency. "Our communications have been hacked by the 'Intelligent Entity'!"
"The one speaking to you now is the 'Intelligent Body'!" He wiped the cold sweat that had instantly seeped from his forehead, his voice filled with despair, "It's over... the worst has still happened."
