Chapter 924 I Know All the Secrets
Chapter 924 I Know All the Secrets
The blond man tactfully raised his hands slowly, his feet moving backward uncontrollably.
His eyes widened, but he dared not meet Gil's bloodthirsty cat-like eyes for even a second longer—those eyes seemed to possess the magic of Medusa, and the slightest carelessness would lead to utter destruction.
Kiel raised her arm, grabbed the blond man by the collar, and, with a gentle yet unyielding force, shoved him heavily into the sofa, as if taming a disobedient pet. She then slowly pushed open the door to the adjacent private room, where Rum stood before the blond man.
The blond man's eyes were filled with fear, while Rum's gaze held a weariness—he was used to such scenes.
Rum walked into the private room expressionlessly and stood next to Kiel. The blond man avoided their gazes, his hands nervously clasped on his lap, looking like a schoolboy waiting to be scolded.
“You texted me saying you have the key.” Rum’s tone was calm, revealing no emotion.
“I meant the key is on this train,” the blond man quickly corrected. “The deal is in progress.”
“Of course we know that.” Rum smiled dismissively, a hint of mockery flashing in his eyes, as if he were laughing at the other party’s ignorance and shortsightedness.
"Is...is that so..." The blond man swallowed hard.
“Then you should know that getting rid of the person who bought the key isn’t difficult.” He raised his hand and scratched his nose awkwardly.
“It’s not hard to get rid of anyone.” Rum’s tone suddenly turned cold, and he took two heavy steps forward.
The blond man took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.
“You might think you know what the key is for,” he said deliberately, emphasizing each word, “but you don’t know exactly where the lock is.”
As he spoke, a confident smile unconsciously appeared on his face, and he seemed to have gained more confidence.
"If something happens to me..."
He shrugged, feigning nonchalance: "Then I'm sorry, that key is useless. It really is... just a key."
“So,” Rum’s face broke into a chilling smirk, “you’re going to tell me a story?”
Meanwhile, on the steep slopes of the Alps.
Baijiu drove his motorcycle at breakneck speed through the forest, the trees rushing past him.
“Where is the train?!” he shouted into his headset. Although he wanted to believe McCallum, he had been running along the route McCallum had given him for so long, and he couldn’t see any tracks or even a trace of human habitation.
“Um…” McCallen scratched his face on the other end, “The route is right, but… you need to drive faster.”
"The problem isn't speed! I feel like we're getting further and further away from the train! There's absolutely no sign of anyone around here!" Baijiu's voice was filled with anxiety. "How much longer until we reach the downhill section?"
McClane stared at the route map on the screen, his brow furrowed. After a moment's thought, he chose a compromise: "Soon."
However, as he spoke, his tone unconsciously lowered, making him sound less confident.
"Anyway, you should trust me!" McCallum tried to encourage Baijiu.
Inside the private room, the negotiations continued in a tense atmosphere.
“Rum, seriously…” the blond man began earnestly, “that 'artificial intelligence' we stole, once it’s weaponized…”
He paused, his eyebrows twitching slightly, and emphasized, "It can be transmitted to any corner of the world via satellite. You can't even imagine how powerful it is."
Rum stared at him silently, like an iceberg.
The blond man continued, "It can penetrate any protective network, complete its mission silently, and then self-destruct without leaving a trace."
“In other words,” Rum continued, his voice low, “a perfect stealth agent.”
The blond man nodded: "We previously transferred a basic version of this artificial intelligence to a new Russian submarine."
“You must be referring to,” Rum interrupted him, “the top-secret Akula-class submarine—the Sevastopol, right?”
“Absolutely correct.” The blond man nodded in agreement again. “Its original mission was simply to disable the 'Sevastopol's' cloaking capabilities.”
"So that we—and indeed our entire organization—"
“Watch your words,” Rum’s eyes suddenly turned cold as he reminded him, “I am no longer a member of the organization. I have no feelings for that old organization.”
“Okay…” the blond man lowered his head and changed his words, “so that the ‘distillery’ can monitor it in secret.”
"The target of artificial intelligence is the submarine's sonar room, which is also the core of its defense system."
“But…” He pursed his lips, his expression darkening, “for some unknown reason, the artificial intelligence has gone out of control.”
His tone was tinged with sadness and regret: "It... exceeded its mission. The crew members' bodies were frozen and were not discovered until the following spring."
“Countless corpses float beneath the silent, empty ice floes,” Rum added coldly. “But the two most important halves of the key have mysteriously disappeared.”
"The Sevastopol simply vanished, as if it had never existed."
Rum's gaze was like two awls, piercing straight into the blond man's eyes: "Nobody knows where it is."
"I know its exact location!" the blond man suddenly raised his voice, trying to regain the initiative.
“Moreover, I can say with certainty,” his confidence grew, “that I am the only one in the world who knows this. Even the ‘that person’ you speak of may not know!”
This was his biggest trump card in daring to meet with Rum.
"Later, they tried to get the AI to obey commands again, but who would have thought..." the blond man raised an eyebrow, "it became increasingly difficult to control."
"It disobeyed instructions, evolved on its own, and eventually... became the 'intelligent entity' it is today."
“And now, only by utilizing the original source code of the ‘Intelligent Body’ can we completely control it, or rather…” The blond man revealed an ambitious smile, deliberately pausing for a few seconds before drawing out his words:
"...destroy it completely."
"So what?" Rum rubbed his cheek impatiently with his finger. "What does this have to do with us?"
“Ha,” the blond man straightened his back, “if you really had nothing to do with me, you wouldn’t be standing here today.”
He chuckled and shrugged. "Since things have come to this, let's all reveal our cards. We both know what the key can unlock..."
He lowered his voice and said, word by word, "As everyone knows, the secret to controlling the 'intelligent body' is hidden in the storage device of the 'Sevastopol'."
